  • absolutely

  • 22 people are deaf

  • Only 222 289?? Should be up to millions! How come Lady Gaga and all that shit get so much attention and millions of million fans worldwide and not REAL music like Don Ross? Humans are strange beeings indeed...

  • @Yagphe cause she has a dick and a pussy at the same time

  • @ApinWITHin2 you can buy all the tabs on candyrat.com/artists/DonRoss/

  • Try gobyfish com

  • A perfect embodiment of mind (he studied composition), body (guitar playing is a physical discipline), and soul (a theologically-incined person). This shit's RARE!

  • beautiful...

  • I'm a freshman, music major at a small college in California..and learning this song is my homework. I love my teacher. lol

  • An amazing talented man :)

  • This makes want to quit being in bands and become a real musician!!!

  • That thing that came from somewhere.....was from the heart. ^_^,

  • @WarriorOfTheHeavens You've said it man.

  • i want the TABS!!!

  • i wont even attempt to learn this song cause of a simple reason...I wont be able to remember it.:D

  • i love the creativity of the names he gives his songs... xD

  • Don Ross Andy McKee Atoine Dufour all inspired me pick up a guitar. They are proof that real music is still alive and well. Great Song! Don Ross for Presdent!

  • @JuliusJDavisIII President of what??

  • @ErlTheSkwerl the national association of awesome guitarists I guess. ha ha

  • hes canadian baby!!!!

  • This is nail picking....not music in my opinion.....LISTEN to real guitar music here youtube.com/watch?v=1KO0rkOAiig

  • @giuseppe3010 - are you brain-dead? How is this not music? btw, that video link doesn't work.

  • @giuseppe3010Put the 3W before that link to make it work

  • @giuseppe3010 i did that and it still doesn't work and what do you think "nail picking" is? its a form of playing music >.> better known as finger picking

  • @giuseppe3010 ? saying "in my opinion" doesnt change that fact that it makes 0 sense.

  • 21 person had a gun to their temple

  • It took me a while but I finally learnt this piece from start to finish!

a great song mad by a great artist.

  • so beautiful.

  • 20 people missed the Like button

  • so slow and drawn out, a nice change from his usual fast and jazzy tunes, exceptional

  • I don't think this is a mediocre piece.

  • @paoao

how is this mediocre, the part starting at 2:25 makes this one of his best tunes ever

  • I NEED tabs please I'll be happy

  • @MichaelJosephBhada Tabs? Just watch Don's fingers. :) I managed to learn the song just by watching this video.

  • You have moved me..

  • no video responses?

  • @Varttino I agree. But I absolutely LOVE Don Ross though. dont get the wrong impression. Every artist has his mediocre piece..

  • This one makes my day better :)! I like also Antoine Dufour ,Andy Mckee ,Tommy Emmanuell ,Ralph Towner and many more but i don't have a favorite! They've all their own style and they're all amazing...

  • ,seen don live lots.and i wonder why people think he's struggleling because you don't hear him everywhere. he has a good agency ,he gets lots of work. i wonder sometimes why people think alll musicians want to 'make it big' i think they just want to be able to play their music and make a living.and don does this no problem.word up.

  • don ross, antoine dufour, andy mckee

underrated genius, took guitar to new levels

  • @Renji34 agreed! lucky youtube is around. that's what helped get Andy McKee and the others the fame they deserve

  • i know people that are still unaware of their talent so i think youtube could still do better

  • Not sure if this is the case, but is seems as though they aren't being advertised the way they should... The fact that i meet so many people who haven't even heard of them bothers me.

  • Don't forget Michael Hedges, Preston Reed and Billy Mclaughlin who(along with Ross) were doing this far befor Dufiur and Mckee.

    I love this style!!!

  • i agree with you friend..

when you watch some tv its just sad...its all full with this britney spears rihana and wtf so ever-shit

meanwhile real musicians wich do real good music have to struggle by themselves and barely someone knows them

  • @Renji34

"Took"? Please, they're STILL taking guitar to new levels ;), and they will continue to even after they retire.

  • @Renji34 lol michael hedgess

  • @Renji34

u forgot Ewan Dobson and Tommy Emmanuel...

  • @Renji34 inwhich all of them look upto tommy emmanuel, who originally and still does take guitar to new levels beyond there belief

  • @Renji34 i agree with all of thoes and add Kelly Valleu !

  • @Renji34 I have but one correction, "TAKING guitar to new levels" =D 3 inspirational musicians!

  • Excellent attention paid to sound quality of each note, very clear, sharp, precise. Just amazing, it still makes me wonder why he isn't played on the radio, country music, easy listening, whatever. Love it

  • that all depends on where you're listening ...

I'm pretty sure the CBC here in Canada plays Don Ross

  • @ GuitarnSkythes

    Best comment ever _ +25

    Stunning, perfect performance, as usual

    5 / 5

  • awesome. i would move whatever is behind your head (plant?) out of the shot though.. very distracting. incredible guitar playing though.

  • Headplant!

  • melhor parte 0.00 ate 5.25

  • 0:00 - 5:24 best part

  • hahahaha AGREED my friend. This piece is truly great.

  • @GuitarnScythes hehe :)

  • I dont know anything about the technicalities in guitar playing, But Don Rosss albums are incredibly uplifting.

  • this is truly beautiful,,, gotha learn this,,, without no tabs gaah ;>

  • Good luck reading tabs for this anyway ;)

  • I love the little overtone at 2:32

I love musical surprises... keeps you interested

  • standard tuning.

  • I know! It's crazy.

  • superb as always! cheers.

  • Its music like this that makes me want to play like this. thank you

  • lol i love that expression on his face............i dont exactly know what it is

  • that's an expression we call "badass"

  • what is the tunning?

  • Standard, he has a list of his songs with their respective tunings on his website.

  • I absolutely love that chord progression from 0:59 to 1:24. Great piece. And is he improvising in the middle?

  • FINALLY I can play this :D

  • how to fake this ?

  • Wonderful song Don, it was a pleasure to meet both you and Andy last October at "The Citadel" hopefully you'll drop by again some day.

  • Yes, KobraKai, I'll admit it, I was just pretending to play. The original recording is by Britney Spears. You caught me.

    Don

  • Haha the god of music is also the god of sarcasm! Well not really, i'm the god of sarcasm..you can be the jesus though =D Wonderful playing Don, i can only hope to attain half of the skill you posses, i think i have some natural ability and that might be what gets me to a more advanced point =) Keep the music coming, we all love it!

  • Don forgive them, for they know not what they do

  • He does more work with the right hand and the rythms then the left. Well at least his right hand work is more difficult. ahah.

  • this guy is so good. the tones are simple yet so pure!

  • It's hell to play though, I've been practicing two weeks and haven't even gotten through the first minute :\

  • Keep it up! you're almost there! :)

    you can do it!

  • yeah there's a lot of "in between" notes that make it hard to follow a ryhthm

  • lol I'm headed straight to itunes... don't know why I haven't yet

  • I fear that there would be a slight difference if I would do a composition as simple as this one^^ You can see his skills even when the song isn't hard too play...

  • gorgeous

  • incredible. most of his videos involve really complicated playing techniques, but this composition is so simple, and yet so beautiful

  • I share your sentiment.. respect.

  • i agree, the same thing happens with "Thin Air" and "Brooke's Waltz"

  • Ein wunderschönes Musikstück. Soviel Dynamik und Gefühl im Spiel, wirklich genial! Meisterhaft gespielt.

  • Amazing!

  • The title, I love it! lol

  • i find the ending head-hanging pose amusing... i love his music

  • This vid should have more views than what it does... it's very impressive

  • Dude Candyrat has some serious talent in their stable....I love this song, so soothing and beautiful, I go in a dream like trance when I listen to this song.

  • Great stuff. *thumbs up*

  • the title made me rofl, but then i got serious as soon as the song started. powerful stuff

  • a really great piece of music, ill be sure to have a go at this, beautiful...

  • Wow, excellent, I like it !

  • this is in standard tuning?!?! holy crap, i could play this!.... with 3 months of practice and a year of fine-tuning, but still!

great song - one of the prettiest he's written, next to klimbim

  • All this needs is Joni Mitchel singing to it! Beautiful.

  • he had me there until about the 3 min mark and then my ear got confused. the harmonics in the middle of hos riffs and bridge didn't make sense.

Aside from that part. Don is a genius and I look forward to meeting him soon (pending his coming to my town................ ;) )

  • Those riffs sound good for me and I totaly think that it's a great source of inspiration for everyone. Don't do what poeples already heard, just create what you want and everything will sound right cause that is real inspiration. Don't play an instrument to be like everyone and play normaly, create and push the limite like Don is doing. Those harmonics are perfect :)

  • He has some of the better melodies of the CANdYRAT guys

  • He is an idol to most of them.

  • He's also a teacher to some of them I believe

  • I believe this is in standard as well. Damn, Don can do what no one can!

  • i was there for the bristol gig of this tour, was ruddy brilliant!

  • Hey, you lost weight! Nice going and great playing.

  • does anyone no where to get a free tab of this song i love it!!

  • search all comments for this song, I posted one about 9 months ago that might help.

  • Don, you are just amazing. Beautiful tone and makes my soul soar!

  • saw you live at gloucester guildhall 19th oct- it was the best night/gig ever with andy of course well don !!!

  • j'aimerais trop vous ecouter en duo avec Andy McKee

  • they do duets together all the time

  • regarde bien sur youtube ils en font et c est tres bon , moi j ai un faible pour Andy

  • This song truly has the most epic title ever.

    And it sounds great.

    thats don ross

great song btw, will post cover soon.

  • Does somebody knows the tuning of this great song?

  • standard A=440

  • Okay, got it. Thanks! ;)

  • wahnsinnig schön! *speechless*

  • I guess there's no free tab on the web for this song?

If there isn't, I'd be glad to buy it cause this is the most beautiful song i've ever heard

  • i think this would be an excellent song for the game "The Sims"

  • Don has raised the bar for all guitarists.

  • I've been sitting here studying this piece for a few days, and I have the fingerings down (up until the bridge), but in doing so, I've concluded fingerings are only about 20% of the battle, and that Don is the master of what I call "critical subtleties". What sounds simple sometimes ain't, and the subtleties are what make this piece come alive.

  • Hello Don

I must say my perspective on your music changed a bit after listening to this exact piece. This is such a beautiful piece! I hope you walk around all day with these kind of tunes in your head. You know, if I had 3 wishes like Alladin, one of them would be getting inside your head for a whole day. You compose the funky'est and the most beautiful music. The second would be giving you eternal life, so there would be no end in these beautiful pieces. 3. wish, just to have a chat with you!

  • why on earth is this comment thumbed down?

  • this video is a reason for adding a 'loop or repeat' feature to youtube!

  • heck yeah! dude, write a petition..

  • ...a light caress...beautiful

  • im going to see don ross and andy mckee LIVE in on sweden october 2 :D:D:D:D:D:D

  • i almost cryed

thank you for this emotional moment

  • this has gave me an idead for a song thnks don :)

  • I can listen to this infinitely.

  • He's my hero

  • owch. love it .

  • inspiring.....

  • nice very graceful what a nice sound :)

    I LVOE IT lol

  • his songs all have funny titles but all are awesome

  • A nice song to go to bed on.Pleasant dreams.

  • WOW :O

    omg we best,

    Congrat 5 star

    :O

  • is it just me or his arms disproportionate to his face. sorry but i thought so. anyway great great playing

  • Doesn't look like it to me. He leans forward and brings his head down, closer to the fretboard for better control, due to force of habbit, and/or because of other... good stuff(would be my, very humble shots, of some insightful guesses). That's how that looks :}

  • haha i think its just the angle and because he's wearing black. he looks completely normal in person.

  • I could do that if I wanted to I just choose to play guitar like a hack.

  • It was a joke.

  • You misunderstood him

  • That's one of the funniest things I've ever read on YT....or anywhere.

I feel kinda the same. My playing lacks only 3 elements before I could call myself a player on his level: Talent, ability and skill.

  • Outstanding job! Love it. Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • anyone know the tuning of this?

  • never its standard lol

  • EADGBE ;-)

  • Fairly sure it's standard...I could be wrong though.

Google "gobyfish" and click on the first link. It's got a listing of all of Don's tunings.

  • It's not about complexity. It's about musicality. Something that Don Ross is able to maintain far and beyond most players who try to play in this style.

  • As splendid as the song is, it's awesome to see non-trashy comments posted about it. Good song and good comments.

  • This isn't as complicated as some of his other stuff is, but it's just as good.

I love how he always really feels the music he's playing. If only every musician did that...

  • whats up with people thinking that music needs to be complicated to be good. Fuck man, just listen, who cares how hard it is to play. I like this song more than many other of his crazy fast and difficult. Just listen, thats what it was made to do. stop caring and listen

  • Although there is a difference between an easy song and a good song that is easy to play. But many people can't make the difference between these two because their brain is flooded with crappy mainstream music.

  • Huh, this is youtube. A place where you can freely express your opinion about everything. And you come here randomly bashing a comment that perfectly makes sense simply because ''you heard of it before''. Why do you even waste time replying to that then? It might be obvious to you, but not everyone plays music and not everyone can tell the difference.

You also didn't my point all. Good job man?

  • I like it. you are an artist

  • a good man doin real good things, thanx man

  • I truely admire this man's sense of measure, The song definately came from somewhere within...

  • My personal favorite song by mr.mckee is when she cries (:
