  • Yes !! Having a right To Own property is the Foundation of Freedom.. You can always donate whatever you have to any entity on Earth, However I will be giving mine to my son in my estate !! Don't be deceived by Totalitarians. In a Commune do you really think life will be any better totally subservient to your leaders?? Wake-Up !!

  • Bravo! Bravo! We remove ALL taxes and collect 100% of the rental value of Land and return 100% of the rental value of Land back to every man, woman and child equally. This ensures that EVERYONE receives a Land Dividend that exactly equals the Land rent on the average piece of Land . This effectively places the monetary system within the boundaries of Life which ensures equal Freedom to ALL. Bravo! Bravo!

  • THanks for the video

just out of curiosity, what is the attitude towards Goergism of the super rich and their shills, minions and reactionary dupes?

  • there is nothing wrong with profiting from the sale of land which you have purchased. Be very careful you don't interfere with the right to own land. I see alittle " Communal Living " here where property rights begin to be are restricted.

It is the Goal of Totalitarian govts. to control all land similar to days before in Kingdoms where all of it was a king's Realm . I see this approach to Land Reform as a gradual conversion to some form of Communism.

  • @jimeckland When you sell your land at a profit, where does that extra value come from? You can't say it's from your own labor. It comes from the community. Rental profits are drained from the value added by one's community. It is a silent theft that the unreflective never stop to consider.

But given that you're the type of person to sling around words like "tolalitarian" and "communism," I wouldn't expect you to understand.

  • @silversoul7

Most of the value in real estate comes from Inflation and location. The Federal Reserve causes the Inflation...An investor finds and decides on Location . Private property is an essential in a free society.

I am concerned about Totalitarianism and Communism because because of their affect on our individual Freedoms and Survival... 7 Million Ukranians died when Uncle Joe Stalin nationalized their Grain Harvests. 60+ million died at the hand of Mao Zedong !

  • @jimeckland Were do you get those numbers from? All the proper peer reviewed research on 1930s famine i n the USSR cite 3 to 5 million, not 7.

Second, grain harvest were not nationalized (I'm not even sure what that means). What happened was the feudal system was abolished in favor of collectivization (as opposed to the methods favored by the Stolypin reforms).

  • @silversoul7

In a nice community which keeps real Estate values high, all profit who own in that Community.

These ideas on "Land Reform" are dangerous to our Freedoms and The Free Market that made America Great.

  • @jimeckland How can human beings own anything of the earth? Does the idea of your ownership of it change its nature in any real way?

  • Who remains the Owner of the land?

  • @jimeckland Depends what you mean by ownership. If you mean the right to possess the land, exclude others from using it, and use it for one's own purposes, then there is no change in ownership whatsoever. If, on the other hand, one is referring to the right to profit from this right of exclusion, then that right is abolished. But all other aspects of ownership remain intact.

  • to the people. Permanent improvements would require long leases maybe 10x the going rate of short term leases. Some permanent leases might be charged 100x the fee of 1 year lease land. I think the government should auction the land and the improvements off every 6 months. Permanent structures ruin the rights of the public.

  • I read a lot of the criticism, the Austrians and the guy below (Paul Birch) have criticism. But I think George was still on the right track. I know there are farms in California where the landowner owns the farm, then rents the land to someone to farm the land. I still think George made a big mistake, improvements, permanent improvements should be taxed more since they infringe on other peoples rights to use the land. The rent should not go to the government, but collected and divided

  • Have you read Paul Birch's analysis of Georgism?:

  • Excellent job tackling what seems to be a difficult thing to explain in a monologue. I went and checked amazon to see how favorable the reviews are of Progress and Poverty, and so they are. I would encourage you to, more than explicate a rough summary of his central ideas, formulate a rigorous engagement with his ideas sections at a time. What do you think of Zizek's latest speech? It seems to touch on the idea of rent? /watch?v=74Cv8FHm5FU
