Dave I don't know how you did it. I had to leave my husband and step kids because I wasn't sure about the church at the time. So I left with my kids. I studied the Holy Bible and my children and I have received Jesus. We want to be baptized soon in a Christian Church. My husband wants to divorce me because we have been separated he wants divorce, but I feel I want to help my husband and step kids receive Jesus. What do you think is the best advice that I could give them? goin thru a lot.
I totally unnderstand you. I am going through the same thing and I'm glad you have posted this video. I am now leaving Mormonism. Now I know why its called Mormonism. It isn't a nick name. It truly is Mormonism. Not Christianity. I am looking for a church where I can have a deep relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ. .
Wow! I am so grateful to God that you have found His truth and are saved by the one and only Savior, Jesus Christ! I am very sorry to hear that you had to lose your wife and children as a result, but I am so glad that you were able to stand strong for the truth and not back down just because they left.
So many people believe the lies of Mormonism, Catholicism...and any other religion that is not based on our Savior. It really makes me sad.
Can a person be Saved W/O Full understanding & confession of Repentance? W/O ecstatic mention of Jesus? W/O Bold profession of "I was Lost in Sin, hater of God, wicked enemy of God?"--W/O profession/understanding of "I was under Judgment of God, the Wrath of God" "I doesn't matter if I was Raging Atheist or Religious w/ similar just Copied from the Bible of Jesus/Heaven/Trinity God/etc/etc" "My righteousness attempted in Religion/self is filthy Rags to God"----Really, can U be Saved w/o this?
Incredible video..It is only Jesus..not religion. This is what is dangerous about the LDS church. Thousands of LDS members worship the church..worship Joseph Smith..Have mercy on these lost souls.
Latter day saints don't struggle with their religion. We have 14 million brothers and sisters to help us daily with our struggles. Not to mention the holy ghost, Christ, God himself, bishops, prieshood holders, stake presidents, home teachers, visiting teachers, relief society, 70'ds,12 apostles of Christ and a prophet to help with just about any struggle life can come up with. Its hard to find a situation that cannot be overcome with support like that around you. Just like Christ wanted it.
Is this because there pride just wont let them revisit the situation? What is it that they cannot talk about that hurts so badly? When someone will only tell you 1/2 the story or leaves out anything of substance and puts in some truths combined with alot of personal believes or BULL____ you have to question the intent of the person. What is so hard about the truth? About real events that really took place. Heck use your emotions. Just tell us about what really happened? Are you up to it????
He says nothing about the events that came up in his life while within the church. Why is this so hard for apostates to talk about. The actual events that lead up to them leaving. Is there too much pain there for them to revisit. No one will even talk about the situation that transpired between them and the church. I know apostates that have hours and hours of video on leaving the church. But they will not mention anything about what happened. What discrepency took place.
According to orthodox Christian faith, Jesus Christ has two natures, 100% man and 100% God. We believe that Jesus' human nature came to undo the damage done by the first Adam, hence, the second Adam reference to Jesus. Also, as God's perfect sacrifice Jesus' in his humanity had to fulfill the law; that meant worshiping God and obeying all His commandments. So now let me ask you a question. With that knowledge is it hard to understand why Jesus worshiped God as you would? Think about it.
Orthodox Christians? Aren't they humans too? If they are, then why you based your faith on what they say? Their god & yours had been silenced for centuries & like all Christians, "they teach for doctrine the commandments of men"
The reason I asked 'cause all Protestants believe in the Trinity & not the Godhead. Mormons believe that God the Father& His Son JesusChrist both have glorified bodies of flesh & bones, the HolyGhost does not, but a personage of spirit.. So who do you worship & pray to?
Everyone who ever penned religious scripture was a man. But the way you know if they speak for God is also found in the Bible. Deut. 18:22, Jer. 28:9, Ezek. 33:33, Isaiah 48:3, 5, 2nd Peter. 1:21, Isaiah 46:9, 10. Read those biblical passages carefully. Moreover, if a man who claims to be a prophet of God lacks the moral character and even pridefully elevates himself above Jesus Christ Himself, that man cannot be a prophet. If a man is a murderer, a liar, a swindler and a sex maniac, well.
All that Joseph Smith wanted was God to tell him which Church he should attend. He never knew God had already chosen him to be "the one" to restore the fullness of His Gospel back to earth for the last time, before Jesus Christ returns. What came after was/is to be trials of our faith as was to Abraham. If we "obey" God will bless us as He did to Abraham & we will endure to the end
Well, how do you know that Joseph Smith was truly chosen by God. I mean no disrespect but if you step out of your circle and attempt to see our perspective based on Jesus' words and warning about false prophets I think you would understand why we must put to the test every one who claims the office of prophet. Again, I mean no disrespect but if you investigate the character of Joseph Smith and his history independently and honestly you would at least see that we are not being unreasonable.
Three years ago I was looking from outside into the that circle.Ive heard & done all of that, and I guess you've gotta put your faith more into a test as I did, dont you agree?
"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found onto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ"(1.PETER.1:7-11)
None of these religions answered questions of where I came from
Do you put your faith more into a test than in the word of God? You justified yourself by quoting the word of God, and so you should. So faith placed on the bed rock of the word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ justifies. The question I hope you ask yourself is, what Jesus do you believe in? What God is the object of your faith. I hope you know my question is genuine. Is God just the God of this world? One of an infinite number of Gods. Did your God create everything including matter?
with God there is no reasoning. I know without a shadow of a doubt that God and his son Jesus both spoke to Joesph Smith in that grove. I know this fully and truthfully not only because the spirit confirms it, but the power of the priesthood of God is real. I have seen the miracles it works. The scars on my hand and not on my daughters face prove it to be true. Unreasonable is to let your own feelings get in the way of Gods will. Humble prayer with him helps greatly
It's simple really. Anyone can claim to be a prophet but God gave us warnings about people who claim to be prophets. God gave us tests that we should subject them to. When someone claims such office especially following Jesus, he should be above reproach and at least should have something to prove to future generations that he spoke on God's behalf. Adequate fulfilled prophecy, accurate historical records from his scripture, etc. Then personal experience becomes just icing on the cake.
Exactly, I agree completely. I am glad we have living prophets today that fit into that criteria perfectly. D and C is full of words from prophets. You know it takes almost 50 years to indoctrunate to it. But we can get the words directly in the Ensign, Or during conference live and in person. Have you ever watched one or read from the D and C. If you have then you could see for yourself. And by the way most latter days are accurate historians. We are called by God to do so. its part of our life
I worship one God, one being of one essence who was revealed in the holy bible as three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I follow Jesus' teaching when I pray by directing my prayer to the Father in Jesus' name. God the Holy Spirit directs me and all true believers in this worship and prayer. Christ being in the office of priesthood as He is now offering Himself a sacrifice on our behalf to The Father is the reason we pray to the Father in Jesus' name.
RN "..three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit" Do they agree? My gosh, tell that to the Catholic, the Protestant, the Evangelical & Born-again Christians who don't share the same belief as you have. Did you learn that from the Prophet Joseph Smith?
RN "He (Jesus Christ) is now offering Himself a sacrifice on our behalf to The Father.." Gee weez...why the present tense. Christ offered that sacrifice over 2000 years ago & now we are waiting for His return.
leSavaii, that is Christian belief. I'm a born again Christian and a protestant. Catholics, Protestants (all denominations), Eastern Orthodox all believe the doctrine of Trinity. The term born again is adopted by most Christians, not sure of Catholics. The Trinity is defined as One God existing in three persons and one substance. Even Oneness Pentecostals acknowledge the three revealed persons but think they are not distinct but rather like the 3 states of water. Check for yourself.
YOU "I'm a born again Christian and a protestant..The Trinity is defined as One God existing in three persons and one substance"
I knew that already & Trinity is not biblical but drafted by a punch of professionals of the scriptures. I believe in One God that does not jump from one body into another, if I understand your statement correctly, not one in substance but in one harmony in thoughts & purpose. That is shown over & over again thru out the whole New Testaments
There is no way to list all the biblical evidence in 500 characters, so more on that later But first let me say with all due respect that the Mormon church has always taught that there are many Gods and that Righteous men become gods. Therefore there is no upper limit to the number of gods. Moreover, these gods have no power over matter since it predates them all, it is eternal. But you say you believe in one god. Also I said "1 God with 1 substance and 3 persons." Not 1 in harmony/thought
I forgot to mention the point behind these posts. The bible shows Father as God and Christ as God the Son and the Holy Spirit as God. My bible references aimed to show that in response to your statement that Trinity is a man made doctrine.
Many have done a much better job articulating the Biblical basis for the trinity. You are free to search the web and read what Christian theologians site as biblical evidence for this doctrine. Then judge for yourself.
im totally lost man. You pray to God in the name of Christ cause he is offering himself as a sacrific to God but they are the same people? Can someone help me out here. I know I am not the smartest saint in chruch but I am confused.
I said I pray to God the father in Jesus' name because Jesus told us in the gospel to pray in that manner. God is one but it is clear from the New Testament that the three co-existent and co-eternal persons within the Godhead hold different offices. The father chooses his people and gives them to The Son. The Son holds the priestly office offering Himself as a sacrifice to save the elect. And will come in His office as judge. The Holy Spirit brings us to Christ and teaches us all things.
you should try reading the book of mormon. It kind of brings everything into perspective about Christ and his teachings. Makes everything alot more clear and less confusing. The bible is great and the most important work and word of God. but it has been translated over a dozen times by man. Which is why I believe alot of saints get lost with it sometimes. Without the book of mormon(which has been translated only once) we tend to get a little mixed up.
On my part I am reading or rather listening to the book of mormon audio which I downloaded from the LDS website. I'm in 1 Nephi 3 right now and it doesn't seem like I'm anywhere near the meat of the book of mormon yet. Although I have to say all the "Yays" and "It came to pass" seem excessive at times. Translations are well, translations. Recent translations omit verses that appear in the KJV because scholars have evidence to suspect that scribal marginal comments or errors had crept in.
thats great, refreshing to see someone actually open minded enough to do the work for themselfs. I have never listened to it on audio however. Something about reading and studying the scriptures for yourself that does it for me. I have come to have the spirit with me daily in doing so. Reading the bible, book of mormon etc. seems to help greatly with daily experiences. You should try reading with your family if they are interested.
I agree that reading is better since you focus better reading than hearing. I have no family to read with. Besides I just want to know what the Book of Mormon is about. I don't just want to read what others say about it. But to be honest, it's hard to give it enough of my time when I have yet to finish the Bible which is my goal. I'm close though.
Thats a great goal to finish the bible. I share that one with you. Hopefully I will be done by years end. But to answer your question the book of mormon is a record of the westren hemisphere. The bible makes accounts of the eastren and middle east. Well thats only halve the world. What about us. What was happening over here. It was kept for the purpose of reuniteing the 2 tribes Lamanites and Neiphties so that we can again all be brothers. So that we may know and act as one once again.
I see your point. But the same question can and has been asked about peoples from all over the world. Africa, the pacific islands, Japan, Australia's Aborigines. And of course all the world pre-israel. The issue is this. Since Jesus came, died and rose up and commissioned His followers to spread the gospel, the whole world gets a chance to hear the gospel. Those who have not will be judged according to the law God put in their hearts as Paul said in Romans.
But with all the thousands of early manuscripts as basis for the translations, even when you compare the KJV (translated from the Textus Receptus) to all other manuscripts containing the most divergent differences you'll realize that the differences amount to maybe 0.1% and most of the differences are very very minor. In deed this is a testament that the Bible has withstood the test of time. It is no game of Chinese whisper. The book of mormon too has been revised many times. More to come...
revised book of mormon..... How so..... again my friend. I would mindful of the things to which you hear about and the things to which you know to be true. This 0.1% of the holy bible which you speak of. There is no way possible for you to know such things. You almost talk as if you were around 2000 years ago. Or even 200 years ago. Be careful of speaking and thinking in absoluts. It can lead you astray from the spirit into your own self rightous.
3 - God showed us a shadow of what he demands. A sacrifice without blemish (see OT)
4 - God declared that "the wages of sin is death"
5 - Man, being dead, cannot save himself.
6 - God is merciful and sent His Son to be the God man, the second Adam, the priest and mediator to pay the wages of sin and save us. So I offer his sacrifice to God through Christ my Priest.
I have no sacrifice to offer God other than to do his will and follow his commandments. Christ made the sacrifice for me. I made covants with him in baptism to follow his will and teachings and accept Christ as my savior, so that I am saved. The sacrifices we can make is only to reject sin and follow his commandments. Gods will is revealed to us by scriptures, revelations inside the temple, prophets and most importantly the holy ghost. Does that make any sinse?
In Romans 12:1, Paul describes the sacrifice we are to offer God. But I was using a simile with Jesus' sacrifice and the system of sacrifices in the Old Testament where as Jews offered their sacrifices to God through their anointed priest we offer our prayer and practical appreciation to God as well as Jesus' acceptable sacrifice to God on our behalf since we accept His work of salvation on our behalf. In that sense Jesus is our priest and mediator so we pray to the Father in Jesus' name.
there have been many many priests, threwout history and now more than ever there are more worthy priesthood holders on earth than ever before. Yes holding that same priesthood that Jesus gave his disciples. Every man should get the opportuntiy to hold it at least once in their live. Are you up to the challenge? Are you ready for your entire exisitance to change forever?
I said nothing about priesthood of men. Jesus did not send priests into the world. Priests are mediators between God and man for the purpose of making an offering to God. Jesus is that priest. He is the only one who owns the Melchizedek priesthood. He is our mediator and our sacrifice. We offer Him to God the father every moment of our life simply by believing in His finished work on the cross and accepting it for our salvation. You twisted my words there. Perhaps unintentionally.
Excellent testimony Dave!! Thanks for sharing and trying to help those that are blinded by the cultish ways of Mormonism, and the hype they feed people! It IS about Jesus! It's not about what church...it's all about Jesus!!
this testimony is a true blessing, i also had the scales fall from my eyes, the first thing GOD showed me was what amazing grace was all about, i used to think that song was just a sad old song sang at funerels but now I know, that I know, that I know. i give him all the praise. i could do nothing on my own. thank you for your testimony. dave.donna
Joseph Smith Jr. confessed in the Pearl of Great Price that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Yet he also taught that God is an exalted man, so did Brigham Young; that Adam is that God. Also, your church teaches that "as man is, God once was, as God is, man may become". How do you reconcile that belief with the first statement I referenced by Joseph Smith? If God was once a man then he is ever evolving and therefore Joseph's first statement is meaningless. There are many ???
I know the Bible is God's Word. He's written promises to earth. It is a lamp onto the feet of those who believe in it's worth. Your Word is perfect truth. Your Word is what I cling to. Unbreakable, unshakable Word of God! I love the Word of God. Page after page it teaches me. Day after day it speaks to me and leads me in the ways of righteousness! Your Word is perfect truth! You Word is what I cling to. Unbreakable, unshakable Word of God! I love the Word of God! Hallulujah! Thank you Jesus!
That's right! It's not about religion or a burning in the bosom or even Joseph Smith. It's about a relationship with Jesus. Glory be to God for His unspeakable gift! Thank you for sharing.
You are absolutely correct! That's the real question. Which Jesus? Jesus of Mormonism is the brother of Satan. The Jesus of Christianity is God. John 1:1,14. That's where Mormons go wrong. They use all the words of Christianty but the words have different meanings.
hey! I see that you are a fan of the late Dr. Walter Martin! I love him! listen to him all the time online. Martin inspires me to tell others about Jesus. Keep up the great work! God bless you.
..the 1800]s are not that long ago..SEE on this site: "DNA vs.THE BOOK OF MORMON" how scientists including a present day mormon one as well as a former mormon bishop/ microbilogist prove scientifically that the book of mormon CANNOT be a TRUE religious OR historical document in spite of the academic dishonesty of the FARMS institute at BYU...SEE also" "THE LOST BOOK OF ABRAHAM" (full video) how GOD is using science to expose another joseph smith forgery...
10,000 + converts to the LDS church daily. Thanks to videos like this one. Keep up the good work in bringing people to know that the lds church is the true church of God. See bearing false witness is breaking a commandment in any religion. So therefore we know that these videos are the will of Satan. any time someone asks me about the church I direct them to posts such as this one. After they see it for themselves they begin there conversion to LDS
Thou shall not take the Lords name in vain. Hate will consume you as satans will always does. Repent and be baptised and you will know of the truth of the lord and his sons true church. Cults I know nothing of. Just the restoration of the church and the fullness of the gospel. Something that no other church will ever have. Thats why its so important that we support our young men on missions so they can teach the restored gospel to those who seek it
So the restoration of the church means that God was once a man? That "as man is, God once was. As God is man may become?" Does restoration mean that Isaiah 43:10-11 is false? Does this restoration aim to restore Satan's deception to Adam and Eve when he told Eve "The day you eat of it you will become like gods?" Because that is what your Joseph Smith restored. Think about it. For the sake of your eternal destiny!
A persons religion is based on faith, even a lack of religion is based on faith. People choose to believe in something, that there is a God or that He is nonexistent. There has to be an element of faith. Nothing I have ever encountered, has ever diminished my faith in the Book of Mormon. I have also come to the realization that even if I'm wrong, I'll be a better person in the way that I choose to live by abstaining from unhealthy living.
Please please please research Mormonism from an outside perspective. It will be very difficult for anyone in any religion to step back and take a look. Why do they call it a cult, why is it so new, why can't they find any cities, any artifacts, steel, archeology, agriculture, why the racism, why masonic roots, why polygamy, why blood omens, why secrets, why the occult, why does it contradict the Bible, why so many excuses. A flag should raise.
@clint25n There are books called:".... for Dummies". Such as "Investing for Dummies", " French for Dummies" etc. etc. Some of you people here need to read, read, read. Don't just make dumb statements. It makes you look uneducated. Read Religion for Dummies, Christianity for Dummies, Catholicism for Dummies. They're all in the bookstores, explained in very plain language that anyone can otherstand. MORMONS are NOT CHRISTIANS. They don't believe in the Trinity, a basic Christian belief.
@clint25n Well said! Unfortunately the strength of the demonic deception is so strong they cannot get free of it unless the Holy Spirit opens their eyes. Praise God for His goodness!
God says in His commandment; "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife!"
So how come God made sex with Mary when Mary was already married to Joseph? Oh I see... He's a "GOD" so He can do anything right? Prima Noctes and whatnot...?
There is a reason it is called immaculate conception. from a theological standpoint Mary was "Pure" so if you believe it, then that's what you believe, I believe it, but if you want to believe that the virgin mary concieved in another way you have that right of choice. As a christian, there is a certain amount of faith, that through god's plan he had the authority and power, without violating eternal laws, to allow mary to concieve a child without having to take away her purity.
It will cause a great spiritual warfare in our country if Romney is elected. The God of the Bible is very far from the Mormon god. Latter Day Saints use the name of Jesus Christ... but their beliefs are VERY far from Huckabee's Baptist (Christian) beliefs. Both candidates are bigots toward gays and others and not totally truthful with their nation, under God (who is the only indivisible One).
America is in store for spiritual warfare no matter who is elected, really. That's just the way that it's going, but it's all good. God has it under control (Revelation 1) and all this must take place before his appearing.
Dave: if you look into the history of any organized religion, you will find issues of concern. The Bible contains many discrepancies throughout and many points of history noted in the Bible have been shown to be challenged by scholars: no different from the Book of Mormon. I have have found Jesus Christ through the word of the Book of Mormon and the Bible.
Isn't it interesting that with the Mormons it's all about the church, but with Christians it's all about Jesus. You will never hear a Mormon emphasize a personal relationship with Jesus because their salvation is based on the church. For a Mormon, Jesus is a great guy whose purpose is to provide a centerpiece for the Church. Thank the Lord for people who have the courage to question their own beliefs and search for the Truth!
Isn't it interesting that that my 3 yr old has a better understanding of what mormons believe in than you do? It is apparent from your comment that either you lack any knowledge on this subject or your are willing slandering a the LDS church......or both.
''we have some of the meanest men that ever disgraced Gods footstool, right here in the midst of the Latter-day Saints. If you want anything done, no matter how mean, they can find men here that can do it.'' Journal of Discourses,
oh knock it off and open your eyes, Mormonism is clearly a cult, The Book of Mormon is not another testimony to the New and Old testimont, its all a Lie. Even if Joseph Smith waas truly given a vision from God, it wouldn't be his duty to go around and preach whatever God told him, God says that he will reveal the truth to YOU, if you ask him. Joseph Smith should of known that if he was truly given a vision
Unfortunately, Jesus is just another lie. Some say don't throw the baby out with the bath water but I think it's more like throwing the tird out with the toilet water.
You stupid ass Christians are so judgmental about heaven and hell. You'll be sitting right next to me in hell for your condescending attitude. I'm going to thump you upside the head with a Bible 1,969 times....in hell. :)
Your couldn't be more wrong about Christians being Judgmental, thats just another stereotype. You seem more judgemental then Christians do, so keep your mouth shut. The only reason you critisize is cause you hate anyone who understand something that you dont. Of course, you'll deny it, but that doesnt suprise me, cuase Atheist always believe that they are their own God, its Vanity.
I'm atheist? I'm my own God? I'm vain? A stereotype only? You're wrong on all three... you jugdemental blowjob. OK, I'll be Christian now. Let us pray.... Lord, God, Jesus, Lord...we are happy Lord, thank you for your suffering Jesus. Amen. Pay your tithing and shut the fuck up.
You have no idea what your even talking about, just another average Joe trying to talk shit but in reality doesn't have a damn clue, oh yeah like you have all the answers cause you went on the internet and researched Atheism from just another idiot who has no idea what he talking about too.
Since I like to criticize things I don't understand, let's criticize your grammar. 1. The first "Judgmental" shouldn't be capitalized. 2. The second "judgemental" is spelled wrong. 3. It's "criticize" not "critisize." 4. It's "cause" not "cuase." 5. "Vanity" should not be capitalized. You are about as educated as uh,....a Christian. I bet you have no idea how the Bible was composed. But...it's the word of God, right?
oh fuck off you cock sucking piece of shit,so I type fast on the computer and make some simple careless mistake. Also, I only capitalized some words to make them stand out to you, it had nothing to do with grammer. Now stop trying to change the subject because you can't discredit the bible or prove a damn thing, I bet your too stupid to even be an Atheist, I doubt very much that you actually understand the Big Bang theory in every detail just like Stephen Hawking.
1. That first sentence doesn't flow like it should. Maybe you should add a comma somewhere. 2. You made "mistakes" not a "mistake". 3. It's "grammar" not "grammer." 4. The word "Bible" should be capitalized. There you go again with being a judgmental Christian....I'm not an atheist. Thanks for being a good example for the Christian faith with the lovely language....douche. Have you seen Delbert's testimony out of Mormonism?
I'm an Ex-Mormon. I left the church 4 years ago with my wife and five kids. I gave Christianity a try for about a year. I applied the same reasoning to Christianity as I did Mormonism. It falls apart pretty quick. Sorry, u have more in common with Mormons than you think. U have been duped as well. What are you here for? Saving everybody with your fuck off cock sucking piece of shit dialogue? :) Watch the youtube video: Zeitgeist - The Movie - Part 2 of 13 only.
ah I see, okay well I think we got off on the wrong foot here, but let's just back it up for a second and be reasonable. Why do you feel that Christianity falls apart?? Also, why do you feel the need to use language like the way you do?? Are you angry or what????
Go back and read your initial post to me. You tell me to keep my mouth shut, I hate people when they understand things I don't, I'm an atheist, I'm my own God, and I'm vain. It's the law of attraction...sarcasm attracts sarcasm. Watch Zeitgeist - the movie part 2 of 13 or or also called part 1 of 3 on religion. If you watch it, I'd be willing to have a conversation about what concerns me about Christianity.
@eyesopenunderwater the same thing is true of the catholic church too. The are more devoted to it than they are to Jesus. Its as if the church has become a surrogate Christ-replacing Jesus as the way to God. Its just as much a cult as any other.
its taught that if your a good moron, i mean mormon, you will become a god, isn't that what the devil said to Eve, " you shall become like gods", Hello.... is anyone home???
Funny, Mormons CLAIM to be "Christan"...Why is it then when a Mormon becomes a Christian his Mormon wife leaves him...? Isn't this proof that Mormons are NOT Christians and that this is why mainstream Christianity does not accept them as Christians...?WOE unto those who preach ANOTHER GOSPEL different from the one we preached {even if it be an angel}GAL 1:6-9
Thank you for your testimony. Jesus says in the Bible that His people will hear His voice, and He will call them out. There is an extremely interesting vid entitled "The Bible v The Book of Mormon" at the "Living Hope Ministries" website. You can watch the whole thing free online. I recommend it. Thank you again Dave, and God bless you.
Dave that was a Great Testimony of the Power of God to Save a lost hell bound sinner, As Dave now understands Salvation is a Free Gift Not of Works -
Ephesians 2 : 8 - 9, Titus 3 : 5 - 6, Romans 4 ; 5, and also Romans 6 : 23. 1st John 5 : 11 - 13, John 1 ; 13 - 14 etc etc. Dave is now a child of the King and a son of the Father -- Blessings
Good for him leaving the LDS Church. I left the mormon church myself, I realized Joseph Smith was a false prophet and that the book of mormon is a fairytale. Jes Jesus gives us all a free gift, eternal life. You don't need the LDS Church to have a relationship with God.
If Joseph Smith doesn't matter and only a relationship with Jesus matter, why didn't you just stay with the Mormon Church? Can't you have a relationship with Jesus as a Mormon?
Brigham Young taught his people that the consent of Joseph Smith was necessary: "...no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.... every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are -- I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 289)
Yes, but I don't believe everything Brigham Young said. He has many statements that are not based in scripture (many of which are in the journal of discourses) and cannot accept them as scripture. I must assume (baring any spiritual confirmation) that they are his own opinion and I am not bound by that. With that said I don't think he was a bad person. I do still accept him as a prophet.
banderson1- BY said "God is progressing eternally" in power and knowledge. JOD vol 11, p 286. On this same issue JFS says "I think this kind of doctrine is dangerous," DOS vol 1, pg 7-8. Even your own prophets disagree with each other.
Your examples of "contradictions" are extremely vague and nonfactual (as are the examples given in the rest of these videos). I think your personal problems have led you to this point.
I really enjoyed your video. It was nice to hear someone who's looking for God's voice beyond all the human voices. Jesus said, "..whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." You have a great testimony! Praise the Lord.
It's funny when Christians knock the absurdities of Moronism using logic and reason, they can't go too far, or they'd wipe out their own justifications. It's a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Irrationalists denouncing slightly more irrational cultists. (a long established cult knocking a new cult)
Well, Dave was fooled by Mormonism for so many years, it's no wonder he doesn't have the brainpower to see through the slightly better Christian mythology. If he would care to analyze that, he'll come up with a whole host of absurd propositions, to which they can only answer "have faith" (i.e., shut up and believe what we say) so out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Just out of curiosity, what is it about Christianity that you find so "absurd"? Especialy in the area of logic and reason in which you have stated bellow.
No reasonable person would accept any of the tenets of the christian church, miracles are absurd on their face. Belief in miracles requires suspension of reason and logic and adherence to simple faith. That you don't know that your opponents consider all your propositions naive and absurd shows your lack of critical thinking on the matter. tsk tsk.
Well to start your Appeal to Ridicule on the subject has done little to answer my question. There is nothing unreasonable about the belief in a higher being. Your personal attack was a little un called for at the end there as well. I don't know how anyone could have these argument fallacies and be so fast to accuse anyone of the lack critical thinking. tsk tsk
p.s. Read a thesaurus and find a new word for absurd.
Spare us your childish beliefs in the sky father, a white man with a beard and a robe. Or is it an alien? Have you ever met "him"? How the hell do you know anything about "his" existence if not? Intuition? Religion is for women and poor 3rd world peasants. Gain reality.
Again, what's with your Appeal to Ridicule, at least you didn't say absurd. You describe God as a finite creature. I don't see how it is so illogical to believe in superior alien beings, not that I believe such about God as others would (mormons). God is not a man or an alien nor does he sit in the sky, that which is God is infinite.
What would convince you of this infinite being? I'm not going to say I know or don't know there is a God. For everybody, there is little they can truly say that they know. For me I believe in this being because of the universe we live in, and the beings that live in it. There is so much we don't know, and what we do know to me, points to an infinite creator. What makes you so sure such a being doesn't exist? (and please spare the appeal to ridicule tactic in your explanation)
But you believe in the absurd! You should be called an absurdist, and your religion? Absurdism. You could lead the Absurdites to Asburdia and be their God.
The overwhelming proof of experience against any contact with any supernatural forces is proof plenty.
If i was whacked out on mushrooms and LSD, or mentally ill, I might consider believing in a god.
Hey man ! God gave us a complete senses as human , why dont you strictly used it and search for the real truth . Read the verses , quit telling stories of your life to encourage believers of a false prophet.
When I come unto Christ I enter into a covenant with Him to take upon myself his name and serve Him all of my days. John says if I sin and walk in darkness I do not know Christ and Im a liar if I say that I do.
Im a Latter Day Saint and Yes, Jesus Christ is my Saviour, Ive publicly declared that many times. What do I mean by that? Well, I mean that I have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and Christ, my Saviour, has atoned/suffered for my sins.
This is beautiful, and true. Jesus is sufficient. This applies to any church, any denomination. They don't matter. What's important is Jesus' sacriice, God's love and His Holy Word.
yeh its gd ppl didnt argue, but there is 1 truth and that is jesus christ and its so inspiring to see another person get saved, " the truth will set u free", God bless.
I would like to thank peopel here for sharing and present their beliefs and viewpoint and not arguing and contending with one to another which does exist at times on the You Tube community.
Second, you stated that your Mormon wife left you and that you then married a Christian woman. I hope that you were differentiating between the LDS sect and mainstream Christianity, and did not intend to imply that Mormons aren't Christians, a very hurtful accusation. I would appreciate it if you would clarify these issues.
In closing, I believe that that a person who studies the Holy Bible with a pure heart will be led to God, as it is His word. At least we can agree on this point.
Hmm...are you serious? you really think that? Ive reviewed some of those claims and just find them to be a bit baseless. Have you read those? If so, explain their connection. I was introduced to that theory when I was 18... it took me about 2 years to realize it was false. I now know that the Book of Mormon has no link to View of the Hebrews or A History of the American Indians. The links between the BoM and those writings isnt strong enough to claim plagiarism.
Hey thedp50 thank for your response. The part with the two books is more of an Idea of that time, not quoting of words but ideas. So yes its not necessarily fair to claim plagiarism.
There is on the other hand serious plagiarism when it come to the KJV. Many times the BOM even quotes the NT which would not be something the BOM characters would have access to.
In your studies have you realized that the large portions of Identical text in the BOM and Bible were changed by Joseph in the JST?
I have realized that and it is an interesting observation. But I still am not convinced that it explains the orgins of the BoM. A 450-page book has just a small portion, probably just 10 chapters MAX have similar and sometimes identical parts of the Bible. Does that discount it completely?
More like around 25 ch. but that's not the point, it would only take one. Think about it Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These gospels are the same story but none are exactly the same, not a contradiction just different perspectives. Yet in the BOM it just happens to be word for word the same as Matthew? Then Joseph changes matthew because of errors yet his changes are not in the BOM.
So where did the BoM come from? That is my question. We can point out small facts that may raise doubts. But tell me something that explains the orgin. I've decided that small facts that raise doubts do not convince me enough to discount it. That means I believe in the Book of Mormon.
It came from Joseph Smiths Imagination that's its origin. Theirs nothing special about it. It has gone through several editions many changes and plagiarism. You can call them little facts but they are big problems!
So now a question for you. What's so special about the book of mormon?
Shawn, if the Bible was sufficient and all that God is going to give us, then why is it so hard to understand? There are hundreds of Churches that use the same Bible, yet they differ in their interpretations of what the Bible says. That's why the BoM is so special, since it signifies that God has called a prophet in our day to authoritatively teach doctrine and interpret scripture.
That's why the Koran is so special since it shows that Gods prophet was Mohammed there is no more confusion now that Mohammed came.
The BOM hasn't done much to solve the problem for the FLDS, TLC RBLDS AUB, and RLDS, Churches to name just a few that believe in the BOM. Some even have prophets from god, and they all have just as strong a testimony.
My mormon friend says that god has 12 wives, another disagrees, but neither would say the other is a bad member. The same is true with my fellow christians. There're things we may differ on but they are things that don't conflict with the centrality of the message.
Christ church is his kingdom, and it "cometh without observation" Luke 17:20-21 So theirs no hierarchy. Separate "fellowships" (better word than churches) are just the gathering of local christians
So who qualifies as being one of your fellowships? How close do their doctrines need to be? Nice example of Mormons differing in doctrine, not even close. Individual members may have different ideas.
When it comes to understanding the bible I have very little to no disagreement with any person that believes that the Bible is Gods preserved word in its entirety. disagreements occur when people pick and chose what is true from it, or let someone else tell them what it means. I do not find the Bible to be hard to understand at all, and I stick with the KJV.
-If you had a specific example of it being hard to understand let me hear it.
It's very evident that the Bible is difficult to understand, hence all the different churches formed. Why isn't there one Christian church teaching clear doctrine if the Bible was so easy to understand? Yet different Christian denominations teach different things. I don't need to give one example, rather you tell me why Catholics teach different doctrines than Born Agains, when they get their info from the same source.
Christ church is not an organization it is a relationship with God. Different churches are people wanting to conduct the facilitation of followers in there own manner.
By your logic having a prophet is just as difficult to understand, there is so many people out there claiming to be Gods mouth peace your church has solved nothing.
The Roman Catholic Church is the same problem, a business/organization calming no salvation out side of itself and they dont get there teaching from scripture.
There are many false Christs and false prophets out there, duh, just as prophesied. Christ's church is an organization as it was during NT times built upon apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the cornerstone. How can two churches both be part of Christ's church when they differ in their beliefs regarding the necessity of baptism for salvation?
Try looking into all the prophecies of your prophets and at least test them by the standard of a prophet (Deu 18:21-22) the only thing you would have to lose is a lie.
I don't believe Christ church is represented by a organization or fellowship requiring the ordinance of baptism prier to salvation that is why I have no fellowship with mormons or Catholics (1 Cor. 5:11)
God's prophets today have declared things that have come to pass so your test is easily passed, though I'm sure you'll have some fabulous comeback to that.
So again we disagree about the teachings contained in the Bible, suprise, suprise. But why do Catholics have such a hard time understanding core doctrines such as baptism but your church doesn't, when both use the Bible and believe in the Trinity?
My fabulous comeback would only be followed by some fabulous excuse. and the test isn't if something came to pass as much as it is if just one thing did not.
Because the little doctrine the catholic church gets from the bible has to be interpreted by their church first, much like every other man made church (Hierarchy). I'm not saying that people cant help in the understanding of the word but error creeps in when we give them the authority to tell us not to look at it for ourselves
God's prophets have never said things that haven't come to pass (or will in the future).
So instead of having one source telling us what the scriptures mean, you're saying it's better for everyone to determine their own meanings? Moses, Peter, and Paul could authoratatively interpret the Bible couldn't they? True prophets can interpret scripture. In my opinion, it's when interpretation is left up to individuals that error creeps in.
Yes I've read God's prophets' prophesies. I've heard many many people try to say their prophesies haven't come to pass, but they're always wrong, things have come to pass according to prophesy.
I do read the scripture for myself and the Church strongly encourages for it's members to do so. I guess all those Christian churches out there listen to different spirits, other that the Holy Spirit, since they disagree on their teachings.
Instead of the numerous false prophecies by your prophets that have some excuse as to why they are true, I will just tell you one that did come true, that's fair, right?
"For although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many mighty works, yet if he boasts in his own strength, and sets at naught the counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a just God upon him." D&C 3:4. Fulfillment below.
Excellent testimony, thanks for sharing.

Are you up to it????
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
He says nothing about the events that came up in his life while within the church. Why is this so hard for apostates to talk about. The actual events that lead up to them leaving. Is there too much pain there for them to revisit. No one will even talk about the situation that transpired between them and the church. I know apostates that have hours and hours of video on leaving the church. But they will not mention anything about what happened. What discrepency took place.

With one word I can sum it up: BLINDNESS. Now let me ask you this: Who do you now worship? Jesus Christ or the God Jesus prays & worships?
leSavaii 3 years ago
According to orthodox Christian faith, Jesus Christ has two natures, 100% man and 100% God. We believe that Jesus' human nature came to undo the damage done by the first Adam, hence, the second Adam reference to Jesus. Also, as God's perfect sacrifice Jesus' in his humanity had to fulfill the law; that meant worshiping God and obeying all His commandments. So now let me ask you a question. With that knowledge is it hard to understand why Jesus worshiped God as you would? Think about it.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
Orthodox Christians? Aren't they humans too? If they are, then why you based your faith on what they say? Their god & yours had been silenced for centuries & like all Christians, "they teach for doctrine the commandments of men"
The reason I asked 'cause all Protestants believe in the Trinity & not the Godhead. Mormons believe that God the Father& His Son JesusChrist both have glorified bodies of flesh & bones, the HolyGhost does not, but a personage of spirit.. So who do you worship & pray to?
leSavaii 2 years ago
RealNazarene 2 years ago
All that Joseph Smith wanted was God to tell him which Church he should attend. He never knew God had already chosen him to be "the one" to restore the fullness of His Gospel back to earth for the last time, before Jesus Christ returns. What came after was/is to be trials of our faith as was to Abraham. If we "obey" God will bless us as He did to Abraham & we will endure to the end
leSavaii 2 years ago
Well, how do you know that Joseph Smith was truly chosen by God. I mean no disrespect but if you step out of your circle and attempt to see our perspective based on Jesus' words and warning about false prophets I think you would understand why we must put to the test every one who claims the office of prophet. Again, I mean no disrespect but if you investigate the character of Joseph Smith and his history independently and honestly you would at least see that we are not being unreasonable.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
YOU "but if you step out of your circle "?
Three years ago I was looking from outside into the that circle.Ive heard & done all of that, and I guess you've gotta put your faith more into a test as I did, dont you agree?
"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found onto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ"(1.PETER.1:7-11)
None of these religions answered questions of where I came from
leSavaii 2 years ago
Do you put your faith more into a test than in the word of God? You justified yourself by quoting the word of God, and so you should. So faith placed on the bed rock of the word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ justifies. The question I hope you ask yourself is, what Jesus do you believe in? What God is the object of your faith. I hope you know my question is genuine. Is God just the God of this world? One of an infinite number of Gods. Did your God create everything including matter?
RealNazarene 2 years ago
with God there is no reasoning. Humble prayer with him helps greatly
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
It's simple really. Anyone can claim to be a prophet but God gave us warnings about people who claim to be prophets. God gave us tests that we should subject them to. When someone claims such office especially following Jesus, he should be above reproach and at least should have something to prove to future generations that he spoke on God's behalf. Adequate fulfilled prophecy, accurate historical records from his scripture, etc. Then personal experience becomes just icing on the cake.
RealNazarene 2 years ago 4
Exactly, I agree completely. I am glad we have living prophets today that fit into that criteria perfectly. D and C is full of words from prophets. You know it takes almost 50 years to indoctrunate to it. But we can get the words directly in the Ensign, Or during conference live and in person. Have you ever watched one or read from the D and C. If you have then you could see for yourself. And by the way most latter days are accurate historians. We are called by God to do so. its part of our life
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
I worship one God, one being of one essence who was revealed in the holy bible as three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I follow Jesus' teaching when I pray by directing my prayer to the Father in Jesus' name. God the Holy Spirit directs me and all true believers in this worship and prayer. Christ being in the office of priesthood as He is now offering Himself a sacrifice on our behalf to The Father is the reason we pray to the Father in Jesus' name.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
RN "..three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit" Do they agree? My gosh, tell that to the Catholic, the Protestant, the Evangelical & Born-again Christians who don't share the same belief as you have. Did you learn that from the Prophet Joseph Smith?
RN "He (Jesus Christ) is now offering Himself a sacrifice on our behalf to The Father.." Gee weez...why the present tense. Christ offered that sacrifice over 2000 years ago & now we are waiting for His return.
leSavaii 2 years ago
leSavaii, that is Christian belief.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
YOU "I'm a born again Christian and a protestant..The Trinity is defined as One God existing in three persons and one substance"
I knew that already & Trinity is not biblical but drafted by a punch of professionals of the scriptures. I believe in One God that does not jump from one body into another, if I understand your statement correctly, not one in substance but in one harmony in thoughts & purpose. That is shown over & over again thru out the whole New Testaments
leSavaii 2 years ago
There is no way to list all the biblical evidence in 500 characters, so more on that later But first let me say with all due respect that the Mormon church has always taught that there are many Gods and that Righteous men become gods. Therefore there is no upper limit to the number of gods. Moreover, these gods have no power over matter since it predates them all, it is eternal. But you say you believe in one god. Also I said "1 God with 1 substance and 3 persons." Not 1 in harmony/thought

Trinity, final thought.

I know I am not the smartest saint in chruch but I am confused.
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
I said I pray to God the father in Jesus' name because Jesus told us in the gospel to pray in that manner. God is one but it is clear from the New Testament that the three co-existent and co-eternal persons within the Godhead hold different offices. The father chooses his people and gives them to The Son. The Son holds the priestly office offering Himself as a sacrifice to save the elect. And will come in His office as judge. The Holy Spirit brings us to Christ and teaches us all things.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
you should try reading the book of mormon. It kind of brings everything into perspective about Christ and his teachings. Makes everything alot more clear and less confusing. The bible is great and the most important work and word of God. but it has been translated over a dozen times by man. Which is why I believe alot of saints get lost with it sometimes. Without the book of mormon(which has been translated only once) we tend to get a little mixed up.
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
On my part I am reading or rather listening to the book of mormon audio which I downloaded from the LDS website. I'm in 1 Nephi 3 right now and it doesn't seem like I'm anywhere near the meat of the book of mormon yet. Although I have to say all the "Yays" and "It came to pass" seem excessive at times. Translations are well, translations. Recent translations omit verses that appear in the KJV because scholars have evidence to suspect that scribal marginal comments or errors had crept in.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
thats great, refreshing to see someone actually open minded enough to do the work for themselfs. I have never listened to it on audio however. Something about reading and studying the scriptures for yourself that does it for me. I have come to have the spirit with me daily in doing so. Reading the bible, book of mormon etc. seems to help greatly with daily experiences. You should try reading with your family if they are interested.
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
I agree that reading is better since you focus better reading than hearing. I have no family to read with. Besides I just want to know what the Book of Mormon is about. I don't just want to read what others say about it. But to be honest, it's hard to give it enough of my time when I have yet to finish the Bible which is my goal. I'm close though.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
Thats a great goal to finish the bible. I share that one with you. Hopefully I will be done by years end. But to answer your question the book of mormon is a record of the westren hemisphere. The bible makes accounts of the eastren and middle east. Well thats only halve the world. What about us. What was happening over here. It was kept for the purpose of reuniteing the 2 tribes Lamanites and Neiphties so that we can again all be brothers. So that we may know and act as one once again.
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
I see your point. But the same question can and has been asked about peoples from all over the world. Africa, the pacific islands, Japan, Australia's Aborigines. And of course all the world pre-israel. The issue is this. Since Jesus came, died and rose up and commissioned His followers to spread the gospel, the whole world gets a chance to hear the gospel. Those who have not will be judged according to the law God put in their hearts as Paul said in Romans.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
But with all the thousands of early manuscripts as basis for the translations, even when you compare the KJV (translated from the Textus Receptus) to all other manuscripts containing the most divergent differences you'll realize that the differences amount to maybe 0.1% and most of the differences are very very minor. In deed this is a testament that the Bible has withstood the test of time. It is no game of Chinese whisper. The book of mormon too has been revised many times. More to come...
RealNazarene 2 years ago
revised book of mormon..... How so..... again my friend. It can lead you astray from the spirit into your own self rightous.
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
What is so confusing about it?
Here's what we know:
1 - God is Holy, does not tolerate sin.
2 - God demands payment for sin.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
I have no sacrifice to offer God other than to do his will and follow his commandments. Christ made the sacrifice for me. I made covants with him in baptism to follow his will and teachings and accept Christ as my savior, so that I am saved. The sacrifices we can make is only to reject sin and follow his commandments. Gods will is revealed to us by scriptures, revelations inside the temple, prophets and most importantly the holy ghost. Does that make any sinse?
marcopolo8765 2 years ago
In Romans 12:1, Paul describes the sacrifice we are to offer God. But I was using a simile with Jesus' sacrifice and the system of sacrifices in the Old Testament where as Jews offered their sacrifices to God through their anointed priest we offer our prayer and practical appreciation to God as well as Jesus' acceptable sacrifice to God on our behalf since we accept His work of salvation on our behalf. In that sense Jesus is our priest and mediator so we pray to the Father in Jesus' name.
RealNazarene 2 years ago
there have been many many priests, threwout history and now more than ever there are more worthy priesthood holders on earth than ever before.

10,000 + converts to the LDS church daily. Thanks to videos like this one. Keep up the good work in bringing people to know that the lds church is the true church of God. See bearing false witness is breaking a commandment in any religion. So therefore we know that these videos are the will of Satan. any time someone asks me about the church I direct them to posts such as this one. After they see it for themselves they begin there conversion to LDS
marcopolo8765 3 years ago
omg I mean have u even RESEARCHED or do u like to just make posts? LDS church is a satanic cult....
jumpyjedi 3 years ago
Thou shall not take the Lords name in vain. Hate will consume you as satans will always does. Repent and be baptised and you will know of the truth of the lord and his sons true church. Cults I know nothing of. Just the restoration of the church and the fullness of the gospel. Something that no other church will ever have. Thats why its so important that we support our young men on missions so they can teach the restored gospel to those who seek it
DeathxWishx101 3 years ago

I have also come to the realization that even if I'm wrong, I'll be a better person in the way that I choose to live by abstaining from unhealthy living.
timmywuvs 4 years ago
Please please please research Mormonism from an outside perspective. It will be very difficult for anyone in any religion to step back and take a look. Why do they call it a cult, why is it so new, why can't they find any cities, any artifacts, steel, archeology, agriculture, why the racism, why masonic roots, why polygamy, why blood omens, why secrets, why the occult, why does it contradict the Bible, why so many excuses. A flag should raise.
clint25n 4 years ago 6

@clint25n There are books called:".... for Dummies". Such as "Investing for Dummies", " French for Dummies" etc. etc. Some of you people here need to read, read, read. God says in His commandment; "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife!"
So how come God made sex with Mary when Mary was already married to Joseph? Oh I see... He's a "GOD" so He can do anything right? Prima Noctes and whatnot...?
geemantheman 4 years ago

Both candidates are bigots toward gays and others and not totally truthful with their nation, under God (who is the only indivisible One).
loosershate 4 years ago
America is in store for spiritual warfare no matter who is elected, really. That's just the way that it's going, but it's all good. God has it under control (Revelation 1) and all this must take place before his appearing.

Dave: if you look into the history of any organized religion, you will find issues of concern. The Bible contains many discrepancies throughout and many points of history noted in the Bible have been shown to be challenged by scholars: no different from the Book of Mormon. I have have found Jesus Christ through the word of the Book of Mormon and the Bible.
djwright44 4 years ago
Isn't it interesting that with the Mormons it's all about the church, but with Christians it's all about Jesus. You will never hear a Mormon emphasize a personal relationship with Jesus because their salvation is based on the church. For a Mormon, Jesus is a great guy whose purpose is to provide a centerpiece for the Church. Thank the Lord for people who have the courage to question their own beliefs and search for the Truth!

andy77718 4 years ago
Since I like to criticize things I don't understand, let's criticize your grammar. 1. The first "Judgmental" shouldn't be capitalized. 2. The second "judgemental" is spelled wrong. 3. It's "criticize" not "critisize." 4. It's "cause" not "cuase." 5. "Vanity" should not be capitalized. You are about as educated as uh,....a Christian. I bet you have no idea how the Bible was composed. But...it's the word of God, right?
utahexmo 4 years ago
oh fuck off you cock sucking piece of shit,so I type fast on the computer and make some simple careless mistake. Also, I only capitalized some words to make them stand out to you, it had nothing to do with grammer. andy77718 4 years ago

Brigham Young taught his people that the consent of Joseph Smith was necessary: "...no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.... every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are -- I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 289)
riseagain91 4 years ago
Yes, but I don't believe everything Brigham Young said. He has many statements that are not based in scripture (many of which are in the journal of discourses) and cannot accept them as scripture. I must assume (baring any spiritual confirmation) that they are his own opinion and I am not bound by that. With that said I don't think he was a bad person. I do still accept him as a prophet.
maniculatus 4 years ago
banderson1- BY said "God is progressing eternally" in power and knowledge. JOD vol 11, p 286. On this same issue JFS says "I think this kind of doctrine is dangerous," DOS vol 1, pg 7-8. Even your own prophets disagree with each other.

It's funny when Christians knock the absurdities of Moronism using logic and reason, they can't go too far, or they'd wipe out their own justifications. It's a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Irrationalists denouncing slightly more irrational cultists. (a long established cult knocking a new cult)
globglob2 5 years ago
Well, Dave was fooled by Mormonism for so many years, it's no wonder he doesn't have the brainpower to see through the slightly better Christian mythology. If he would care to analyze that, he'll come up with a whole host of absurd propositions, to which they can only answer "have faith" (i.e., shut up and believe what we say) so out of the frying pan and into the fire.
globglob2 5 years ago
Just out of curiosity, what is it about Christianity that you find so "absurd"? Especialy in the area of logic and reason in which you have stated bellow.
shawnprpr 5 years ago
No reasonable person would accept any of the tenets of the christian church, miracles are absurd on their face. Belief in miracles requires suspension of reason and logic and adherence to simple faith. That you don't know that your opponents consider all your propositions naive and absurd shows your lack of critical thinking on the matter. tsk tsk.
globglob2 5 years ago
Well to start your Appeal to Ridicule on the subject has done little to answer my question. There is nothing unreasonable about the belief in a higher being. Your personal attack was a little un called for at the end there as well. I don't know how anyone could have these argument fallacies and be so fast to accuse anyone of the lack critical thinking. tsk tsk
p.s. Read a thesaurus and find a new word for absurd.
shawnprpr 5 years ago
Spare us your childish beliefs in the sky father, a white man with a beard and a robe. Or is it an alien? Have you ever met "him"? How the hell do you know anything about "his" existence if not? Intuition? Religion is for women and poor 3rd world peasants. Gain reality.
globglob2 5 years ago
Again, what's with your Appeal to Ridicule, at least you didn't say absurd. You describe God as a finite creature. I don't see how it is so illogical to believe in superior alien beings, not that I believe such about God as others would (mormons). God is not a man or an alien nor does he sit in the sky, that which is God is infinite.
shawnprpr 4 years ago
What would convince you of this infinite being? I'm not going to say I know or don't know there is a God. For everybody, there is little they can truly say that they know. For me I believe in this being because of the universe we live in, and the beings that live in it. There is so much we don't know, and what we do know to me, points to an infinite creator. What makes you so sure such a being doesn't exist? (and please spare the appeal to ridicule tactic in your explanation)
shawnprpr 4 years ago
But you believe in the absurd! You should be called an absurdist, and your religion? Absurdism. You could lead the Absurdites to Asburdia and be their God.
The overwhelming proof of experience against any contact with any supernatural forces is proof plenty.

I pose this question: where did the book of mormon come from? read it and tell me where did it come from...
thedp5000 5 years ago
The book of Mormon came from Joseph Smiths Imagination along with plagiarism from:
"A History of the American Indians" 1775 by James Adair
"View of the Hebrews" 1823 by Ethan Smith and the KJV Bible
shawnprpr 5 years ago
Hmm...are you serious? you really think that? Ive reviewed some of those claims and just find them to be a bit baseless. Have you read those? If so, explain their connection. I was introduced to that theory when I was 18... it took me about 2 years to realize it was false. I now know that the Book of Mormon has no link to View of the Hebrews or A History of the American Indians. The links between the BoM and those writings isnt strong enough to claim plagiarism.
thedp5000 5 years ago
Hey thedp50 thank for your response. The part with the two books is more of an Idea of that time, not quoting of words but ideas. So yes its not necessarily fair to claim plagiarism.
There is on the other hand serious plagiarism when it come to the KJV. Many times the BOM even quotes the NT which would not be something the BOM characters would have access to.
In your studies have you realized that the large portions of Identical text in the BOM and Bible were changed by Joseph in the JST?
shawnprpr 5 years ago
I have realized that and it is an interesting observation. But I still am not convinced that it explains the orgins of the BoM. A 450-page book has just a small portion, probably just 10 chapters MAX have similar and sometimes identical parts of the Bible. Does that discount it completely?
thedp5000 5 years ago
More like around 25 ch. but that's not the point, it would only take one. Think about it Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These gospels are the same story but none are exactly the same, not a contradiction just different perspectives. Yet in the BOM it just happens to be word for word the same as Matthew? Then Joseph changes matthew because of errors yet his changes are not in the BOM.
shawnprpr 5 years ago
So where did the BoM come from? That is my question. We can point out small facts that may raise doubts. But tell me something that explains the orgin. I've decided that small facts that raise doubts do not convince me enough to discount it. That means I believe in the Book of Mormon.
thedp5000 5 years ago
It came from Joseph Smiths Imagination that's its origin. Theirs nothing special about it. It has gone through several editions many changes and plagiarism. You can call them little facts but they are big problems!
So now a question for you. What's so special about the book of mormon?
shawnprpr 5 years ago
Shawn, if the Bible was sufficient and all that God is going to give us, then why is it so hard to understand? There are hundreds of Churches that use the same Bible, yet they differ in their interpretations of what the Bible says. That's why the BoM is so special, since it signifies that God has called a prophet in our day to authoritatively teach doctrine and interpret scripture.
brianderson1 5 years ago
"That's why the BOM is so special"
That's why the Koran is so special since it shows that Gods prophet was Mohammed there is no more confusion now that Mohammed came.
The BOM hasn't done much to solve the problem for the FLDS, TLC RBLDS AUB, and RLDS, Churches to name just a few that believe in the BOM. Some even have prophets from god, and they all have just as strong a testimony.
shawnprpr 5 years ago
Just as we ask God if Joseph Smith was a prophet we may ask if today's prophet is His prophet. It's that simple.
brianderson1 5 years ago
"hundreds of churches"
My mormon friend says that god has 12 wives, another disagrees, but neither would say the other is a bad member. The same is true with my fellow christians. There're things we may differ on but they are things that don't conflict with the centrality of the message.
Christ church is his kingdom, and it "cometh without observation" Luke 17:20-21 So theirs no hierarchy. Separate "fellowships" (better word than churches) are just the gathering of local christians
shawnprpr 5 years ago
So who qualifies as being one of your fellowships? How close do their doctrines need to be? Nice example of Mormons differing in doctrine, not even close. Individual members may have different ideas.
brianderson1 5 years ago
"...why is it so hard to understand?"
-If you had a specific example of it being hard to understand let me hear it.
shawnprpr 5 years ago
It's very evident that the Bible is difficult to understand, hence all the different churches formed. Why isn't there one Christian church teaching clear doctrine if the Bible was so easy to understand? Yet different Christian denominations teach different things. I don't need to give one example, rather you tell me why Catholics teach different doctrines than Born Agains, when they get their info from the same source.
brianderson1 5 years ago

(2 John 7-11) (Eph 5:11)

Have you looked up all the prophecy of your prophets?
Scripture tells us to read the words for ourselves not to let someone else do it for us. and our guide is the Holy Spirit:
(Rom 10:17), (Mar 12:24), (Mat 22:29), (Jhn 5:39), (2Ti 3:15), (Act 17:11), (Act 18:28) (2 Tim 3:16) (Jhn 16:13) (1 Jhn 2:27) (1 Tim 2 :5) (Jer 31:34)
