  • Is there an update? It looks like it could be a really cool 2 player co-op beat'em up game where you escape from prison or something.

  • @xenomorpher No update. It seems the developer lost interest in developing for the Jaguar. I believe he sold most of his dev equipment.

  • @deadline27 I'm confused... that isn't math at all.

Go troll elsewhere... and you might want to go back to remedial math.

  • i myself, am confused. i'm confused as to why i bought this system when it came out... purchased at least 30 games for it, and could not find one title that held my attention for more than a few seconds (save alien vs. predator) i am also confused as to why nobody ever gave a crap to use the so-called 64-bit system to create a game that even came close to looking like anything better than what the snes could do with the superFX chip. i'm not only confused by it, i'm dumbfounded.

  • @deadline27 Nothing better than the SuperFX chip?! LOL! Now I'm dumbfounded...

Cybermorph, Battlemorph, Iron Soldier, Iron Soldier 2, Battlesphere, Zero 5, etc.

I can't believe you've never heard of those.

Out of those 30 titles, you didn't even have Cybermorph or Iron Soldier?! Both look YEARS beyond anything that was done with the SuperFX chip. The amount of colors onscreen ALONE outclasses it (of course, it should, since it's 64-bit.)

  • i thought cybermorph actually looked like superfx graphics... never had battlemorph... iron soldier i had for some other system (can't remember) never even heard of zero 5. i may overstated how many games i had... AvP, club drive, checkered flag, kasumi ninja, ultra vortek, some motorcross game, raiden, cybermorph, tempest 2000, (fun) those are the ones i remember right off hand but i know there were more. i was just very disappointed with the "64 bit" capabilities of this "64 bit system"

  • @deadline27 Well, some of those games came out later in the Jaguar's life, which happens with every console -- developers learn the system better and make cooler games. The Jaguar was obviously doomed by then, though.

Others were disappointed by the Jaguar, but it's important to realize it wasn't the "capabilities" of the Jaguar that brought it down -- it was management who chose to just do a bunch of ports from 16-bit machines.

  • @deadline27 ... continuing...

The jaguar could do some amazing things that you probably don't even realize. Check out my videos on some of those games I mentioned and you'll see.

The problem was not the system itself, but how it was largely untapped by developers. You can blame that on its lack of development tools provided from Atari.

Sorry that I came across harsh, but it's difficult educating so many people who come in and just say things like "jag is crap" without really knowing.

  • @deadline27 SuperFX could never pull off Cybermorph, maybe the 32X could if it tried though. But it doesn't matter since Cybermorph was boring as fuck, good graphics or not.

  • Oh my god, i m so glad i got a Jaguar because there s no way in hell i could see a game like this on another console!

  • Enough with the sarcasm.

You're taking some of the worst examples of "graphical prowess" and making your comments based on those?!

I'm so glad I got a Jaguar, because there's no way in hell I could see a game like Battlesphere, Zero 5, Battlemorph, etc, etc, on any system that came before.

    Get it?

  • Oh , irc BS you mentioned came out a good time AFTER the jaugar died

and in 2000 , The dreamcast - ps2 could do just slightly better than jaguar.

Only slightly , you know... i wouldn't want to upset Jaguar "ohmygodthatgamewithjustonedotthatmovesaroundthescreengameissounderratedn00bz" Gods with the above statement

  • That's one of the games I mentioned... how about the others that look and play great? There are more than just those 3 that I mentioned.

    kthxbye!

  • Not only that, but BS came out a good time AFTER the jaguar died... and it was basically a homebrew effort! And by homebrew, I mean they were never paid by Atari to do anything with that game. They paid for development and materials out of pocket.

...who said the Jag was almost as good as the DC & PS2?

  • Well you said , saying you couldn't play better games on other consoles :)

The more impressive games came out when DC and PS2 were out ( 2000 )

The "old" games were outclassed by ... texture mapped > 10 fps games on 3DO, PSX and Sat

and speaking of 2D , outclassed by pretty much 3DO, PSX and Sat

  • Go back and read what I said.

    You're mis-quoting me.

I said, "I'm so glad I got a Jaguar, because there's no way in hell I could see a game like Battlesphere... on any system that came before."

Where did I state anything about systems that came out AFTER the Jaguar?

If you're going to play the "this game is better cuz it looks nicer" game, then the good games didn't come out until the 360 and all other before were outclassed.

This new generation doesn't know what makes a good game.

  • Just so I'm clear... no DUH consoles that came out AFTER the Jaguar would have better LOOKING games. New technology = better graphics. You can't even compare the Jaguar to the PS2. That's stupid.

It still kicked the 3DO's butt, though. The 3DO had a big collection of stupid video-based games that sucked. There were a few good games.

  • Oh by kicked 3DO's butt you mean like...3DO had Need for Speed ( textured and impressive ) and Jaguar had ...hmm? Checkered Flag? No wait! Club Drive ! No wait :( i give up. Jaguar wins hands down. rrright.

Or maybe the fact that 3DO had StarFighter? Oh no wait, flat shaded polygons are soo 64 bits raw power rawr. yeah right.

Oh and i will list every awesome 3DO game, so much for "only FMV games console " shows how much 3DO you actually played.

  • I have a 3DO, retard.

  • Space Hulk , Need For Speed, Road Rash , Cannon Fodder, Out of This World , Flashback , Quarantine , StarFighter , Super Street Fighter II X , Samurai Shodown , Star Control II , Alone in The Dark (1 only , 2 sucked ) , Bust a Move , Crash N Burn , Deathkeep , The Horde , Killing Time , Lucienne's Quest , Madden , FIFA IS , Panzer General , Return Fire , Wolfenstein 3D , Wing Commander III , Shockwave .

So much for a "silly" FMV games only console, huh?

  • As I said, there were a few good games.

The ratio of good to crap is just as bad as the Jag's library, though.

  • And once again you put words in my mouth. I didn't say it ONLY had "silly" FMV games.

    Go troll somewhere else.

  • ok so he can.. pick his nose and duck. Fantastic demo here.

  • ... and it was created within just a few hours, so I'd say that's pretty good for 3 hours, don't you?

gotta love the nose-picking though :-D

  • I like the art direction

  • I want to believe that these comments are ironic... T_T

  • This goes to show how great Jaguar games could've looked, had Jaguar developers actually had good 2-D artists. Even though I was a huge Jaguar fan, back in the day, the art was hardly ever up to par with potential.

In contrast with the way Jaguar developers worked, Neo Geo games concentrated on solid gameplay and 2-D graphics, which resulted in some of the best games in video game history.

  • cd ? or cart?

  • Unfortunately, neither.

As far as I can tell (since the developer has left the Jaguar scene) this project has been dropped.

If we're talking in hypotheticals, this game most likely would have been brought to us on both CD & cart, because Rastersoft's first Jag game was done on both.

  • Man am I dying to see this ! WOW! I love the cinema scene setting !

  • Now I'm not sure what's going to happen with this game.

Rumor has it that Charles has signed on with a small group of developers (who haven't actually released anything yet) to create a game -- but not this one...

  • That would be the Obliterator project ;) However.. we havn't heard from him in awhile so as of yet no code is written.. The graphic work is on track however.

  • Quality!!!!!!

  • Wow, this looks like it will be cool. Should be interesting to watch this as it develops into a complete fighter. Nice work guys.

  • This game is gonna kick ass!!!! AWESOME!!! Rastersoft Rules!!!!!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Yeehaaa!
