This man was so under-appreciated. There are so few actors out there capable of making a character truly realistic, there are even less with the dedication to keep going regardless of their personal health or with such eye for detail.

Benedict Cumberbatch is decent as a modern-age Sherlock Holmes, but he would sorely be out of place in such a remarkable classic. The (somewhat recent) movies somehow feel more like parodies to me.

When I watch the recent series vomited up by the BBC, I despair; the glowing reviews given to Benedict Cumberbatch (who is usually a good actor) are just ludicrous. He simply is not fit to lick Brett's boots in this role.
