I have installed 8Gb of ram to my u270 and I am looking to install an SSD. What is the most compatible SSD to install ?. What make and model would you recommend. my HD is a 320 Gb right now I would be looking for the same in the SSD. Can you advise ?
Thanks man. Good job explaining the nuances for successful upgrades. I hope you totally scored with the chick that got that MSI wind with the hearts on it.
In the video above, you state that the MSI winds support up to 320GB hard drives; however on your website, there are Winds with the option to upgrade to a 500GB 7200 hard drive. Are Winds (including the L1350 with Windows7 Starter) compatible with 2.5 SATAII 500GB hard drives? If yes, do they need anything else software wise to function properly? This was a good, informative how-to video. Thank you.
You saved my sanity - I've been trying ALL DAY to add a gig of RAM but couldn't get it recognised - I wasn't getting the angle of insertion right. THANK YOU Frosty :-D
hey im trying to upgrade my ram only i tryed a 1bg and it dident read it, i then tryed a 512 from my lap top and it dident read that either, is there someing i need to do in the OS so it reads the new Ram. Thanks in advance.
SSD is perfect for laptops ad there shock proof, lighter and use less power.
SSD is fast, the main thing that lets them down is the SATA inteface. That lets down a lot of hard drives. I have SCSI UW 15k on my desktop and there more than twice as fast as normal hard drives. In fact theres not many ssd's that out perform them.
just bought mine and I love it, keyboard is full, screen is low gloss and works good in sun, sound is clear, first thing I said is, I need some ram...lol
MSI wind will be the faster. With the 1.09 bios it runs at 2Ghz. I play Star Wars Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast on mine with all settings set to max. As others have said put the 7200 RPM western digital scorpio in and you have a netbook that will be just as fast as a desktop.

Thanks for that. I only had 512mhz ram and will add another 512. Looks simple. Thought there might be problems taking the back off.

What is that on top of the MicroDIMM slot? Is that another MicroDIMM soldered onto the motherboard?
Why do they keep soldering these things on there?

Which computer will be fastest? MSI Wind U100 or Eee PC 1000H.

MSI Wind is the fastest.

Why?

The warranty is no longer voided by upgrading the ram or HD.
statm1 3 years ago
lol...the ASUS eee pc1000h is way easier to upgrade,no need to remove a lot of stuff...only two screws and you have access to the ram and hdd

You can fit any 2.5" drive in the wind. I just ordered a wind. I will be putting 2GBs of ram in and a 320GB 5400 RPM WD hard drive.

I don't see why you couldn't.

Good video thanks. Is the hard drive just a 5400rpm sata 2.5 inch drive? Will any brand work? I am thinking of going to a 320 gb. Thanks
