  • Hey, so what exactly did u do to your exhaust? did u change the whole thing? or just from the catback ? it sounds good!

  • @luisxc79 I put short tube headers on. I left the Cats on and ran 2.25" pipe from the cats back to an H-pipe. Then the Flowmasters and pipe all the way to the rear of the truck.

  • @scotts01Z71

Awesome, ya it sounds awesome.. wHAT benefits are you getting besides sound? how about gas milage and airflow? how much did you spend on all this?

  • @luisxc79 Gas mileage might have gone up 1 or 2 MPG. As far as horsepower it probably went up a few but nothing noticeable. Total cost for everything right around $495.

  • nice truck man

  • @TheBack933 Thank you!!!

  • take the mufflers off and it will sound a hell of a lot better

  • @derrickmtyma Naw, I like it just the way It sounds... Not to quiet and just loud enough for a good rumble.

  • What size motor was this,my dad has a 04 4.8 ext. cab,and I want him to true dual it and put on the original 40s.I already have them, they came off my old truck,is this the original 40?

Also, how much do those flowmaster stamped tips cost, they look nice, and do they come in a 4.5X22,thats what we are gonna run as far as tips!

    Thanks ahead of time.

Also, nice roll bar, where do you get it,and how much,I got a truck I am wanting to put one on!

  • @EJthecountryboyGRAY This is the 5.3 litre engine. These are original 40s. The tips are 3x12" Flowmaster tips. I dont think they make them in the size you are looking for with the Flowmaster emblem. As for the Roll bar I got it out of a 88 long bed Chevy from a junkyard. Paid 50 bucks for it.

  • @scotts01Z71 Thanks,at least I have an idea of what the 40's will sound like on a silvy!

By the way, your truck is nice, sounds awesome!

How do you like the H pipe?

I have always run true duals no X,H,or Y,so I am not a fan,but I got a buddy that had a chevy like mine and his was straight piped with an X and he said it was better than true twins,so I am considering it,what do you think?

  • @EJthecountryboyGRAY Well running an X or an H-pipe helps balance both banks of the engine. You might lose some bottom end torque as there is no back pressure. I personally don't care for straight pipes. A little to noisy for me. It would get a little annoying and draw attention from the Law that will more than likely result In a fix it ticket. I like the set up my Silvy has. Not to loud, a good rumble at Idle, and pretty good growl when ya get on it. But hey, to each his or her own.

  • @scotts01Z71 Oh I love mufflers, dont get me wrong, but my 2000 silvy has cat back true dual straights and it isn't as bad as you would think, its nice and deep, and don't pop unless you gas it,and where I am from it's legal as long as you have cats.I know what you mean though,I got a show truck,no cats no mufflers, true dual, and it gets old,I am ready for mufflers believe me,LOL.And,I was talking about runnig the H with my mufflers I'll be getting! Chevys sound good running anything, lol! So X or H?

  • @EJthecountryboyGRAY Well If Its the 04 with this set up it will sound about the same. If you go with the X-pipe set up I would say it will be a little more throaty. Im guessing, never heard this set up with an X-Pipe.

  • @scotts01Z71 Yeah the 04 is getting the flowmaster 40's.

I just always wondered about the X and H,I never used them, but yeah my 2000 is straight piped,I will be getting mufflers soon for it though.

But yeah thanks man,I appreciate your info, and once again you got a nice truck man.

  • @EJthecountryboyGRAY Thank you!

  • @EJthecountryboyGRAY ive got a 2000 5.3L with a flowmaster 70 series and it just not loud enough for me, im thinking about putting straights on it. but im a little scared to. lol.

  • @FrisbeeBaller17 Don't be scared, just try it,and if you don't like it,put a muffler on it,at least you will already have your pipe run!

I will PM you some more info :)

  • @EJthecountryboyGRAY wonder how much different it would make it sound if i just cut thr pipes off after my flowmaster?

  • fuck i got dual exhaust done on my silverado and the people did a horrible job !!!, i am seriously reconsidering taking my dual exhaust off and putting stuck on ......brackets breaking left and right, maN it sucks

  • @mikesimon31 That does suck. Nothing like a shop that does not know what they are doing.

  • NICE I DID THE SAME THING 2 MY 03 AVALANCHE!

  • @isrracamarena Thanks!

  • So how exactly do you have this set up and where did you get the materials for all of this?

  • @acdclover66 There are two Catalytic converters that run Into a Y-pipe. I cut the Y-pipe out and ran 2.25" dual pipes Into an H-pipe. From the H-pipe are the Flowmasters and 2.25" pipe all the way back. I used 3/8" round stock for hangers. You can purchase the pipe and round stock at any muffler shop.

  • So what was the total cost to convert to true duals when it was all said and done?

  • @acdclover66 Total cost- $ 496.00

  • o really mine cackles from rev lim down to like 35 then its loud but not cackly lol , i need to get drive bys with mine soon

  • what pipes you running , stainless ? , , im running 3" stainless , cat back duals with custom muffers ,i might change it to true dual straight pipes in spring with headers tho

  • @foxracing3215 Nope not stainless. Just regular old 2.25" exhaust pipe.

  • @scotts01Z71 o must be cause its new that it lokos like that then lol , sounds good , just not loud enough for me lol

  • @scotts01Z71 o looks like stainless , maybe cause its new , anyways lol , sounds good , whats it cackle at ? , sounds good just not loud enough for me , or does the camera muffle it a little ?

  • @foxracing3215 Yeah in this video the system is less than a week old. It only cackles on the down rev around 3500 RPM. The thing with Flowmasters Is that the more carbon that gets built on them the louder they will become. Thats why In this video they are not very loud. I need to make a video of some drive-bys and start up. They are quite a bit louder now.

  • i have an 01 Z71 and i just don't see how you fit an extra muffler because i loooked across from where my stock muffler was and the gas tank was in the way

im thinking of getting the american thunder flowmaster with the single in dual out set up,its fairly cheap and it sounds good for only $400.00

  • @XxClemsonTigersXx The Mufflers are run side by side. Two pipes, H-pipe, Mufflers, and then the pipe after. Dual setup.

  • @scotts01Z71 alright,thanks!

  • @scotts01Z71 alright,thanks

  • sorry but does it have two flowmaster mufflers?

or is it a two in two out muffler?

  • @XxClemsonTigersXx No problem. This is a true dual (two muffler) setup with an H-pipe.

  • ok being a z71 should your stock setup be true dual pipes from the manifolds back to a 2 in 1 out stock muller??? my 97 was that way just had to finish the dualing out to the back and it was simple, i thought all z71 came dueled all the way to the muffler

  • @youdragon Yep! That is the stock set-up. I believe all of the Sierra's and Silverado's came this way from the 90s to present day. Pretty simple set-up, took me and a Friend about 4 hours to do this set-up. Not to bad for our first time doing this.

  • Flowmasters....plus a CHEVY! I think I'm in love! Nice videos!!!

    Support The Troops

  • LOL! Thanks! ;-)

  • nice truck and nice sounding exhaust! you stuck the tips out to far in my opinion but everybody has their own tastes. may be getting me another silverado here soon!

  • @ speeddemon0712- I agree, they do stick out about an inch too much. What year Silverado you planning to get?

  • its a 2000 silverado single cab. bunch of stuff done to it including a crowl hood, roll pan, glasspack exhaust, its real nice. im trading my 96' gt for it hopefully. check out my vids if you want.

  • Damn man, to bad you cannot keep the Mustang AND the Silverado. That Mustang looks and sounds like a nice ride.

  • haha well i have a 97 gsxr as well right now, kind of a fixer upper. supposedly just needs a carb cleaning and sync to run right, then its just cosmetic stuff from there.

  • @speeddemon0712 Fixed them tips. They do not come out past the Flowmaster emblem.
