  • I don't think the doors should have reformed after Jim Morrison died. The doors and the cult's music is very different.

  • i think atsbury knows that he's not the doors, and people go see them becouse of manzarek and krieger...he knows that he's not the show, he's just the vocalist

  • hey leave astbury out of this, I met the guy and he is pretty cool in person, somehow he has adopted a jim attitude wich he handles pretty good.

  • Agree He is a nice guy. I met him in 1989 in BC Canada sold him some Stones book by the original photographer David Bailey. I see the difference as Jim had a blues pain in my heart I'm going to kill someone type sound with feeling that went beyond most suburban comfortable whites feelings and thoughts.

He spoke aincent wisdom when it was considered hippie hocus pocus. He loved Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker when you could be lynched for it down South.

  • not even close.

  • I just wanted to say fuck all you lame people trashing Astbury.

  • :D

    I'm with you.

  • hmm.. it does not sound.. right.. that singer is not as good as jim--of course..

i also agree with Shamanblues22 and doorsfunatic

  • yeah, astbury is an average singer, and really has no grit or blues in his voice. ray seems to be wanking severely on that song. densmore is missed. robbie sounds pretty good and bless him for stickin with that damned SG all these years, I cant believe Gibson isnt kissing his ass more.

  • Going to the riders on the strom for the second time in januari 2007 (amsterdam) they're brilliant!

  • Love Ray, John and Robbie, but sorry, I'll staying home and listen to my CD's. Its just not the same.

  • you have issues, don't you?

  • No, just don't like Ian Ashbury singing. He doesn't suit the Doors music. Maybe he sound better with the Cult. I don't know, I never really listen to him.

I think the votes are 50/50 right now and your right Jim would love it.

  • I completely agree with his voice not suiting the music.his voice is like hitting a board. You hear a sound and then it stops.listen to anythign he says and he just ends it...no echo like jim and no emotion like jim.nothign against him personallyu of course.

  • Agree guns41 the reason is He just doesn't know the negro blues feel or sound. "I'ma old bluesman and I think that you understand, Ive been singing the blues ever since the world began" JM

  • Robbie is one of the BEST guitar players ever! Even Jim said he was really under-rated by everyone. Still, The Doors were Jim, Robbie, Ray and John. I did go see "Riders on the Storm" just so i could meet Ray and Robbie and they were very nice to talk to. So some of you need to chill out.

  • Aw yeah and a great song writer too.

  • Would you go see The Stones without Jagger??

  • The song is actually Five to One.

  • fuck Ian Ashbury that fucking fag he kills the sound of the doors can't believe Ray let him do vocals or even plays with him its so gay the only tribute band that I give props for is "Wild Chil"

  • Robbie is a good guıtar player. He is ok.

  • Robbie Krieger looks like shit

  • robbie krieger always looked like...

  • even if it does have Robby and Ray in it i still think the band is a joke. I cant believe they just place a man in who slightly resembles Jim into a band and expect it to be the doors. No person could take Jims place or feel the way he did! Its a joke although this song (FIVE TO ONE) is amazing, it was tortured in this version.

  • Hi, i also believe The Doors were Jim, John, Ray and Robbie. No less, no more. I think Ian doesn't really feel the music. It's not his work, so how could he? Would he like to be replaced in The Cult of The 21st Century? Don't think so, thus he should be the first to quit. Greets to John who was the only one who didn't fall for money.

As for video it's good to know the band is crap, as i thought :) Thx.

  • Seems like a lot of people disagree with you. Jim loved controversy and shaking people up. He'd appreciate your distress I'm sure.

  • It's the closest you can get to the Doors nowadays, and it's better than nothing. But Ian Astbury is nó replacement for Jim Morisson, that's true. Val Kilmer is even better, I think he's great in the movie.

  • i agree -- Val played Jim sooo well twas kinda spooky.

  • i don't think they ever had a bassist though Ray Manzarek did play a little bass keyboard from time to time at the same time as a normal keyboard.

  • Fuckin brilliant seen them 2wice in Dublin!! ahh its the closest in my generation i'll get to The Doors so i mean 2 of the members anyway and sure Ian Astbury fuckin class anyway come on dont deny it he's savage! but ole Robbie love his playin never really uses a plec! genuis's we need Jim back aye ; )

  • was that in dublin????

  • Yup. Was in Dublin.

  • The Singer sucks. I am the best copie. Fuck The Cult and gimme a mic.

  • What a bunch of old farts.

  • The guitarist dude plays better than ever, though.

    They have a bassist?

  • they've always had a bassist unofficially, they just never gave him credit.

  • Besides Jim. Ian Asturbary or whatever, he is NO replacement for Jim, he sucks.

  • All the singers they pick suck.

  • No MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY TO REPLACE THE UNIQUENESS THAT JIM MORRISON HAD IT WILL NEVER BE THE FUCKING SAME SO GIVE UP! but the doors still rock!;)

  • Ray Manzarek...still one of the GREATEST MUSICAN of all

    time !!!!
