Tomorrow, Jack in Chicago (104.3) DIES! Of course, it won't be Oldies (we already have an Oldies station), but Jack DIES in Chicago tomorrow, and that's good enough for me!
It may be back, but it's just NOT what it was. No Don K. Reed and his terrific Doo Wop Shop......VERY few 50's and 60's tunes - which were the absolute best music of all times. They play WAY too many of the SAME songs - all the time.
KCBS was first KKHR in the 80's, then went to oldies as KCBS, or CBS-FM, yes, we had our own little version of CBS-FM from New York, Then as if it wasn't that, it went to arrow, then went to jack. arrow was an OK thing, not as good as the 2 other formats.
@rigaudien: No, I always figured it would take over the 92.3 format when K-Rock's second incarnation flopped, but they became a dance music station. Jack wasn't a terrible format even though I personally wasn't a fan and it would've done well in New York had the talking heads in charge knew what the hell they were doing. Their sheer arrogance throughout was absolutely astounding.
yes iognoring the fifties is just plain wrong, im glad they are back, but would it have killed their ratings if they played more fifties?? THINK NOT! ten percent is a joke! OH and by the way, the last song heard on Jack: "dont stop believing" can still be heard on wcbs fm playlist! good song though ..
yea! more new jingles for you jingle fans! they're using positron from what i know! but what ever! i'm just glad they're still using jam! a big jam fan, no a big dallas jingle company fan. as long as it's that way, we're cool.
Some of those jingles were played also on Phillies oldies station WCAU-FM 98.1 (Philadelphia area) Same jingle, different call letters. Both stations were owned by CBS.
They then changed thier call letters to WOGL FM. No more 50's music, just 60's and 70's. Those jingles from cbs are gone as well. They have different ones now. I don't like the station anymore.
Yes, I've left WOGL Fm for a Vineland, nj. oldies station. The station WVLT(Cruisin' 92.1)is 50's thru 70's. Well known dj Jerry Blavett does 5-7's weekly there. the Greatest oldies station on the east coast. They play from the heart, not a research chart. They have streaming on the internet. Wvlt.comt
The radio station I'm working for as a DJ plays as well from the heart. Ah, the beauty of proposing tunes and explaining why, giving each DJ a specific "color" !...
yes! CBS-FM is back! and still using the number 1 choice for jingles! Woohoo! even though I'm from L.A. I have you on my presets. You're number one. Which packages are you using now. Are you gonna use "Priority 1" again? Or I have a good package that I think might go great! Turbo z, cut 10
We are getting there! 101 WcbsFm is now the # 2 radio station in NYC! next stop, NUMBER ONE ONCE AGAIN!!!!! thanks to everyone for our success, because without you, we would not be where we are!!!!
We will be approaching year number two in our return to the New York airways. Thankyou to everyone for your support, we are doing well in the ratings and expect to continue our climb and be number 1 in the Tri State once again!
Merci beaucoup for your comment ! An honor to read you here ! Being a DJ myself and an Oldies fan, your station story touched my heart even if I live in Québec. But you're doing that good, why are your already firing air personalities ? (Read samantha11111's comment below) ALL THE BEST TO THAT GREAT NYC STATION, PROVING THAT PEOPLE PRESSURE WORKS !!! Tout le meilleur succès à votre équipe !...
101Wcbsfm, you have really came back, and for the first time in our lives, we feel gratified. I am running for assembly in my district, i have just put up a commercial ad.
already, Wcbs fm, has fired several on air personalities, Al Meredith was forced out along with Jeff Mazzie to save money. Al was so happy when Wcbs fm returned, he would never retire that soon after the switch. He remained at Jack fm in the public affairs department, Now wcbs is using the CBS 880 newsroom. Jeff was instrumental in keep Wcbs music alive on the internet while Jack stole the airwaves. What a shame, i also hope they bring more fifties music back, before advertising money drops
don't forget charlie in portland, dave in atlanta, fly in dayton, and frank in cape cod! at least, if they could bring back their formers, Kissin' portland, z-93 atlanta, z-93 in dayton, and "the wave" in cape cod, and play some classic hits!
I have been sooo grateful that they are back on ever since that very date. We felt like we all won, the greatest radio victory in the history of radio, that we didn't like JACK-FM and that we finally got WCBS-FM home, it felt good!
I know what it is, it is from the last episode from the hit tv show: "The sopranos" entitiled: Made in america. Tony said: "I've gone ahead and ordered something for the table."
DONT STOP! *JACK Fm stops* LOL

Au Québec, Mix 96 est devenu une Virgin Radio, CKMF est maintenant une station NRJ mais on a été épargné par Jack FM.....jusqu'à maintenant.

And, as we speak, in recent PPM Arbitron ratings, 101.1 WCBS-FM is #2 overall in New York City. No one in radio thought it would happen.
No one, that is...except those who kept the faith.
