Hi Betty:)I like your herb garden.Do you know we've got the same recipe in Bulgaria but we called it "pastet " and we put garlic instead of onion.Garlic reduces blood pressure very well:).Nice to see you in your kitchen again!
Thank you! I grew up on a farm, so I used to grow all of my vegetables and herbs. Now it's just herbs--and a tomato plant that has given us hundreds of cherry tomatoes this summer! Thanks for your nice comment!
Hi BLT! I don't know how this comment got past me--but I just now found it! I drive the Honda Accord, and we have one dog, a miniature poodle, Remy! (I think you know all this by now!!!)
Your recipe sounds great! What I usually do is use greek style yogurt (it is thicker b/c it is strained) in place of sour cream and mayonnaise. You may want to try it, it keeps the dip very healthy so you can eat as much as you want!
That sounds wonderful! I hope I can find the greek style yogurt--I want to try it! I'm always interested in any healthy substitutions! Thanks for a great tip!
It has been a few years since I've had many herbs--just a little cilantro, sage, thyme, and parsley. So, I am really enjoying all the additional herbs this summer! I am getting ripe cherry tomatoes now, as well! I enjoyed your comment!
The dip looks great and I will definitely make it. I have to say I'm jealous of your herb garden, its really impressive:) Thanks Betty, I look forward to your future use of fresh herbs in recipes!!!
I hope you like the dip! Tomorrow I will be uploading a huge relish tray to use with the dip--several garnish-type things, as well. I'm glad you liked the herb garden. I was afraid that after all the hype I had given it, everyone would think it was pretty puny. I will be making some new dishes with herbs, but I promise not to use them every day! As always, I appreciate your loyal support.
Thank you, Jimmy. I'm glad I got to show you my home. I appreciate your faithfulness in watching my videos. I know they are sometimes long and tedious. I'm trying very hard to work on that! It took me about the first 100 or so before I was able to smile while I did my demonstration--still working on that, too! You make me smile. :)
Thanks for the tips, Patsy! I really like the idea of using the flavor from fresh herbs to replace the flavor most of us have become used to in fatty foods! Readers, please note! Thanks, Patsy!
Just to clarify the substitution of fresh herbs for dried herbs, the rule I follow is 1 tablespoon fresh herbs = 1 teaspoon ground dry herbs. I hope this helps!
When you do your substitutions with dry for fresh herbs, remember that you will need more DRY to equal FRESH. This is an important thing for folks to know. The other side is, if you can grow fresh herbs, you can use the low fat stuff, because instead of FAT EQUALS FLAVOR you have FRESH (herbs) equal FLAVOR w/ Fat free ingredients!
No, it's just me and my husband. We do all the cleaning, etc. We did get help on the landscaping. Rick and I are both retired, so the house and yard (and cooking) keep us busy!
Thank you. I've been talking so much about my herb garden lately that I thought I should show it to everyone. I promise I won't put herbs in everything! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you! I'm glad you like the recipes; they are generally regional, so I'm never sure how they will be received. Thanks for viewing and commenting!
