This truck was on the cover of the 'Wheels' section of the Chronicle Herald newspaper here in lil 'ol Nova Scotia Canada today, I had to check 'er out once again.
OH MY GOD!!! I am only 18 years old, and one of my wishes is to visit the 50's or 60's just to listen to beautiful sounding rigs like this one. Thanks to your video my wish has come true. My grandpa always told about what the 50's sounded like (and it sounds exactly like this. Thank you for posting this vid. That is a very beautiful truck with a beautiful sound. I will probably be watching this video another 20 times before going to bed tonight.
You are very welcome my friend! You should check out the YouTube clips of a '53 Peterbilt I shot in 1998 with a guy in Minnesota who was only 20 teas old at the time.
@longroadpro I can't tell you how glad I am that you put these video's up. I watch the 53 peterbilt religiously, and now that i've seen these video's. I think I know what I want to do with my trucks. I owe ya big time
@2008truckman I've been doing this stuff since 1994, and one of my hopes was that a few people would be inspired to restore more of these great pieces of history.
The pull grip on the dash is a compression release to get the engine to turn over a little easier. There's a noise ordinance in Jerome so Don has to divert the exhaust from the stacks temporarily. I shot this a long time ago, but I think he can run it through a bottom dump muffler.
I've been waiting to hear a supercharged cummins running not jus idling it was worth the wait these are sounds that i miss as a kid growing up the trucks today all sound the same QUIET!!!!! STRAIGHT PIPES ALL THE WAY
awesome job

Superb looking,and sounding truck!
What's the pull-grip @0:10 used for?
From 5:05 on, did he use some kind of silencer on it, and how?
Would you still be able to run a classic truck with open stacks on public roads today?
Thanks.

Longroadpro, BEAUTIFUL TRUCK!!
Did you know that the 'World's Fastest Diesel Truck' is a KB International at 285-MPH?
YouTube search "Phoenix Racing Time" to see the 285-MPH run.
I retired from IHC after nearly 40-years as a truck salesman. The K-series was a little before my time, but I've sold and driven lots of them.

Those jakes are music to my ears! Now days, the turbo whistle interferes the sound and ruins everything even with straight pipes.

What engine is in this truck? It sounds absolutely amazing pulling those hills.
teeter1939 1 year ago
@teeter1939 It has an NHRS Cummins used in the 50's. I believe it's 300HP.
