  • thx nice

  • I listen to a wide, super wide arrange of music but ELO Time has been stuck in my head for the last 30 some old years and never left, listen to the lyrics, they called it out.

  • @jamesterc you gave them time / to steal your mind?

    I love it C:

  • @jamesterc ME TOO! I Have older sisters who played ELO all the time- and time and again I go Back to those classics. Sooo underrated! Face The Music, Eldorado, New World Record, Out of the Blue, Discovery, Time.... Fantastic.

  • Just enjoy the music.Lifes to short to argue about stupid crap

  • or did they i dont know. i love this album though!!!

  • i always thought that they should make a like a musical or something based on this album.

  • @obeseunicorns370 i agree

  • I discovered this because of Diacon. And boy am I glad I did; this is otherworldy, almost. Such a sonic journey.

  • one of the best albums of all time imo

  • Man I love this album

the perfect start to my fav ELO album...Loved it in 81 and still a fave now!

  • OK I just went from ELO fan to ELO Fanatic!!! This is my new #1 song from them so surreal!!!

  • One of the greatest rock that was ever composed ^^ Holy shit, this gives me thrills ;)

  • where are the vampires? (dnt get mad just a joke)

    =/

  • I find nothing wrong with this track...I've grown up listening to ELO and I think ELO brought on alot of Great Tunes with their own Robotoc Sounds and I think that's what made ELO who they were!!! Seriously folks Everyone has their distinguish stylings in music and ELO is one of them...Please Give your Head a shake!!!

  • if you don't want listen FUCK YOU ALL.

  • this is best of ever

  • I don't care what flak I take for this: Daicon Pony brought me here.

    Yeah.

  • @hotelmario510 Well shit. The same here.

Amazing song been listening too it for about 5 months.

  • @Stiglitz51 Ain't that some shit...

  • If they told me this was the opening credits of these Twilight Vampire movies, I'd might go see them

  • @spawnof200 dude you are so right thank you for seeing the error in my ways lol

  • One of my favourite songs and I'm only 14. My friends don't see the wonder in ELO music!!

  • @bbhrupp Stick to your convictions about music. When I was your age, I liked David Bowie and I got razed about it all the time. And Look how popular he turned out to be. I'm 53 now. And Still enjoy Bowie, ELO.... Don't ever let friends try to influence your musical tastes. If you enjoy it, that's all that matters!!

  • Fuck densha otoko

    Fuck daicon

I'm proud to say I brought myself here.

  • @lAMNOTGOOMBA Fuck you, sir. We all come here from different places, we all love the music. Isn't that enough for us to just get along?

  • I saw them in concert in Milwaukee, WI. My friend and I were having a bite and the band came down. i couldn't believe it, but we were to chicken to ask for an autograph. It made the concert so special to me.

  • There is a lot of awesome here

  • This Time music from ELO was like a good SF movie, you even need to see pictures to get into it, sound and music make it all...

  • This is a whole lot of awesome

  • I wish you had video. I was at the concert in Milwaukee, WI. I would love to see them playing.

  • 130,000 what...are people idiots...thanks for posting all of this...thank you...

  • Daicon

    Daicon forever.

  • it feels like the twilligt sone O.O

  • Whenever I try and tell people how much I love Twilight, they give me funny looks. How could people not love this song?!

  • @StonedMarmaduke Do they know you talk about the song instead of the book?

  • My all time favourite album. Thanks MACGYVERKICKYOURASS

  • I was a 7 year old kid in 1982 when I first heard this. It was played for me by my older brother. I asked him who did this and he said "ELO" I never forgot this song. I tried for 27 years to find it. All I could remember was the beginnings lyrics. I typed it in one night and the lyrics came up. I came here, found it and since have been addicted. This song and concept album showed the world ELO was way before there time and that Jeff Lynne is a cosmic genius.

  • @DoubleVisionandco I'm 8 yrs older than you, and can still remember the first time I heard ELO. They were on a music awards show and they did, "livin thing". I asked my sister what the name of the group was, and I became a fan, and have been one ever since.

  • ahead of their time

  • This music brings back good memories of when I time traveled through light-years into space to discover twilight.

  • This album reminds me of my brother, we always loved ELO.. I havent seen him for 10yrs, I miss and love you bro.x

  • In 1981 I was 15 when I've herd this album. Now I am a 21st century man and I wonder.............

  • @Fokysnik2

hear ya, I wonder too how come ELO knew the future would suck they way it does...

  • This is a simply amazing piece of music.

  • The who were a STRONG influence on ELO...and it went both ways. Although quite different in their approach, sound, and concept the genious worked both ways.

  • The who were a STRONG influence on ELO...and it went both ways.

  • 1:16 YES MOST UPLIFTING SONG INTRO EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • I've read that Jeff Lynne hated this album, but then warmed up to it later on. He must have gotten a lot of fan support to make him realize how good this album really is.

  • @Supercharge87 I believe there was a reason why Jeff Lynne hated the record, because he was screwed over by the label behind this record, Time was originally planned to be a 2 LP ordeal and to include a song called "Beatles Forever" but CBS Records got fidgity with the buget and reduce it to the LP ablum we see today w/o the "Beatles Forever" song

  • @Kitsuneranger It was actually Secret Messages (1983) that Lynne had intended to be released as a double album.

  • @SuicideBoner8IIIIIID I felt (and still do) very emotional listening to 'Time' and 'Out Of The Blue' over and over when I was a kid. So, I guess all take it as it comes... Whatever it makes you feel is correct. Funnily enough, I read that Jeff was a huge fan of the disco genre and wanted to make serious disco records.

  • I bought this album on day of release. Sometime in july 1981. I was 15 !

  • son lo maximo los amo soy male

  • They were so awesome, it was the best concert I had ever seen!

  • one of the best ELO hits of all time

  • jeff lynne is a f**ing genius!!!

  • A cosmic cathedral of sound!

  • Come on all you ELO fans, demand thy get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I have already contacted them, but I am only one person. Just e-mail them and tell them what you want.

  • @TheLaluna1 Hey....I sent them an e-mail too....ELO should have been in a long long time ago.....it is a disgrace that they are not....Jeff Lynne should also go in as a song writer and whatever other categories there are...he is a genius created a style of music that in my opinion nobody else has ever come close to mastering and never will!!

  • I will never forget seeing this in concert and seeing ELO eating in the same restaurant as me and my friend. I was too chicken to ask for an autograph. I wish I would have now.

  • This album haunts me.

  • What a great intro to a great album!

  • try listening to the prologue at night...real creepy...

  • ... All of a sudden I have a strange desire for more energon.

  • This would have been a classic theme song for the Twilight movie series. I was actually bummed out when I saw the movie with my girlfriend and they DIDN"T play this.

  • @bourne9999

But why would you want them to ruin a great, happy song like this by putting it in that bad, depressing movie? I'm sorry, I don't understand..

  • @NausicaaRaine That's exactly why this song should have been in the movie. It would have made the movie better. OK, I'm not going to rank the movie 'Twilight' in my top 10 list. But after seeing a VERY bad movie, 'Inception', "Twilight" at least had a story behind it. Bottom line is that I LOVE this song and I LOVE ELO!!!

  • @bourne9999

the tone of this song and the movie totally don't match, though. It'd be like playing the Beatles during Saw. Anyway, no matter how good a song is, it can't make a bad movie good. Also I've never seen Inception, but I assumed it had more of a story than twilight, I saw it and the whole thing just seemed like bella complaining about stuff and then bella and edward staring at eachother. Is there really a story? I don't remember it.

  • @NausicaaRaine Hey, I didn't want this to be the debate of the decade. I love ELO and this song. The movie and book were entertaining. I listen to music and read books to get away from 'The Real World'. And the "Real World" sucks.......

  • @bourne9999

    sorry

  • @NausicaaRaine Nothing to be sorry for...:) You have your opinion and I have mine. I truly believe this tune would have made the movie that much better. But since they didn't use it, It's a dead issue.....No matter what, I still LOVE this song!! And I'm glad YOU do too!!

  • Is Jeff Lynne from Earth?

    Or just from another time..

  • Rush: 2112

    Pink Floyd: The Wall

    ELO: Time

  • @ChesterLoadstone And in the 2000 30 seconds to mars: this is war.

  • I get twice the story, and general emotion from this than I do any movies coming out now, ELO will always remain timeless

  • @jgreenzicle The album is time, not timeless.

  • @jgreenzicle

Movies today have emotion and stories?

  • Damn this is good.

  • I am so glad I got to see them in concert just once.! What an experience!!!!!!!!!!

  • This album reminds me the movie Poltergeist sometimes..

  • @unisomerzzz Why?

  • @no1elofaniknow

I'm not sure. It just seemed like a good soundtrack for some parts of the movie. Never mind me. I'm odd..was as a kid too. "Hold on tight to your dream" matches them trying to get CarolAnne back from the other side and her father holding the rope.

  • I also saw the concert in Milwaukee, it was great, but my friend and I got a bite before and ELO came down and ate there too, I was too chicken to get teir autographs, but it made the concert even greater for us.

  • I was at this concert, it was awesome. The arena was pitch black, and a small robot came out and recited the prolog. It was mayhem after that. I miss this band.

  • Its so... nostalgic... without having heard it before.

  • I nwed to get this on record.

  • Love this album, i remember listening to this in the early 80's...ELO

  • thumbs up if daicon 4 opening brought you here

  • My aunt gave me this cd when i was 15, loved it ever since....

  • I so love this song with the prolog! I was a huge fan of ELO + when this came out I saw them do this live at Wembley, London. The prolog was recited by a life size robot of R2D2 out of star wars!! AWESOME! I'll never forget that! - what a fantastic way to begin a concert!! ELO were always ahead of their time! :-)

  • @Hugs4Michael ...I stilll remember the robot opening the show in las vegas too..this was the first big concert I went to 'back in the day'',great stuff here, great memories, I just wish there wasnt 30 years between then and now...Haha..

  • @stumpya1 i was at that concert too. it was at the aladdin theater for the performing arts. had orchestra seats. i was young and stupid though, and we thought to beat the crowd and left before the encore. that was so awesome though!! it was like my second or third concert.

  • This is the song from that i discovered ELO. My father was big fan of ELO, so i listened to Time LP and become fan too.

Of, why why there is no such music today?

  • @Vednier There is, but you have to go look for it. Just scan through some of the Progressive Rock bands out there and you'll find some cool stuff. It's mostly underground like Rush and Dream Theater. You won't hear it on the radio much, if at all.

  • Excelente cancion saludos desde los Mochis Sinaloa Mexico soy fanatico de elo desde que estaba en la secundaria.

  • i saw them in conert on the Time tour, Awesome. What was better tthat my friend and i had dinner in the restaurant where they also did. I was to much of a chicken-shit to ask for an autograph. But eating dinner with ELO so-to-speak will be something I will never forget. Jeff Lynne is the best. Great show.

  • Sends shivers down the spine - awesome now, just like when I first heard it the day it was released

  • 3.31 I love how they go all Beatles on your ass and then it whips right back into the futuristic sound...:)

  • @azanti I am going to see ELO Part 2 this Friday. As long as they play ELO songs, they are ELO. I have Jeffs Zoom DVD and love it, I just want to hear the music, too bad Kelly is gone. I have his last CD, Great!

  • i have a message from another TIME

  • wish I could reach those notes lol

  • The difference between this and the film is that this blew my mind for all the right reasons

  • Thanks so much to the poster of this great album!!!!!

  • Truly fantastic, never heard this for 25 years or more. Thanks mate your the star of the day

  • I saw the original line up god knows how many times, and the band as they are now, which consisted of three of the original members until Kelly Groucutt died and I don't consider them a knock off band in any sense, and they are every bit as good as the band with Lynne in the line up, if not better and their gigs were certainly better as the original line up gigs were always really short. So no I'm not punking you and I'm not going to debate it, ELO is more than just Lynne.

  • I saw ELO tour this showin Miwaukee and we saw them come down at the hotel to eat and couldn't beleive it was them. Ii was too chcken to ask for their autograph, but it was a thrill non the less and the show was awesome.

  • Blows my mind every time I hear it!

  • @whatzerface929

That must have been a fucking great show! Wish i could of been there, but iam stuck here in Wisconsin.

  • I saw the Time tour!.

  • @tonypybus My dad took me to the time tour at Wembley Arena it was the first ever concert I went too . Couldn't say it then as i was too young ...So I'll say it now fucking awesome

  • @jub2003 I was at that gig too mate, and awesome it was indeed.

  • Yes thats what I hear lol :)

  • Can anyone else hear a little bit of the who in the background?

  • @wayneburgess63 Yes, I thought that after hearing it a couple of times too. Listen to the keyboard intro of Baba O'Riley, by The Who. There is one keyboard pattern in Twilight, during the chorus, that matches almost perfectly!

  • I love this album. Used to listen to it over and over on vinyl. My stepmother has a very eclectic collection and that allowed me to look into a lot of music that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. Wish I could find it on CD.

  • @chopinbloc Yeah I used to listen to it over and over when i was in grade 12 in 82. I was obsessed with it. Still listen to it in the car often. Just timeless (hahaha). God I miss concept albums. It is available on CD.

  • @PeterHBne1

Hello , I was 13 in 1982 and I used to listen to ELO in my walkman ..It reminds me the good old days..Now I'm 42 but still like this music of course

  • @BorlandRIP7

i was 11 and loved this in 82, but i love it even more now as the lyrics seem so appropriate.

  • Time, uno de los grandes discos de la historia de la música. Jeff Lynne es un genio musical

  • i alwyas thought ELO were the next step after the Beatles in creative sound

  • @TheHouseoftheholy

i thought I was the only one who saw this. Great hearing it from someone else. I was always the weird one at school--a 12 year old american girl who loved an eccentric british band!

  • @clara2768 the history of this band started in Birmingham UK in 1968 called the move and by 1971 became ELO, your not weird at all they are the closest i think british music came to an answer for the loss of the beatles. They created some really magical records and i would like to add you as a friend i have sent an invite.

  • WELL DONE

  • ELO was a huge part of my youth - Thanks for the post!!

  • Hard to believe this track came out in 1981. Where has the time gone? Great band.

  • Futuristic tthen....and Now..Brilliant!!

  • My favorite band is Guns N' Roses and I started listening to ELO because I read that it was one of Axl's favorite bands... now I love it as much as I do love Guns...

  • @miyuris We have such similar tastes... lol

  • Daicon IV. That is all I have to say.

  • This album was way ahead of its time. It almost sounds contemporary

  • L'àlbum "Time" d'ELO va salvar les meves orelles de la mediocritat musical d'aquell temps. Gràcies Jeff, Richard, Bev i Kelly. ELO, us trobem a faltar!!

"Time" album saved my ears from the musical mediocrity of those times. Thank you Jeff, Richard, Bev and Kelly. ELO, we miss you!!

  • Love it!!!! Going out to buy the album this week - and dust off my huge tower speakers too! Watch out neighbours - here comes ELO. Ha!

  • The synth backing at 3:23 sounds like The Who

  • ha ha, good call

  • I heard this album back in early 80's and I will NEVER forget the impact it had on me! THE best album of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ELO Time is one of my most fave records of all time. Nothing can beat this album.

  • I heard this in the "music store" as it was called back then and immediately bought it. On vinyl. The opening, indeed the entire album, is indescribably complex musically. If you can't hear that and just want to bitch about the synthesized voice you are missing the entire picture and I feel sorry for you. This is a vastly underrated masterpiece.

  • I'd never known about ELO until this year, and this is hands down my favorite album. I could listen over and over and never get tired of it.

I'm 17 and I prefer this over the new crap:)

  • Oh, wow

  • If you have this record, try prologue on different speeds like I did when I was young! kinda spooky slower!

still have the record, possibly the greatest underappreciated album of all time - in my opinion. Jeff Lynne is a great songwriter/musician/etc.

love his solo stuff from the 80's too

  • Thanx for the upload, I had this album back in the 80's. Brings back memories.

  • Time is timeless... music at its best... ryhume and and story... oh to stay...

  • akiba

  • If you listen to the whole album, it tells a cool story!

  • ESTA ES LA BUENA MUSICA

  • One of the most notable songs of the last half century. When this went on the air in 1981, it gave me goosebumps because of the strange sounds that builds to the climactic intro of Twilight. The song is timeless itself, using blends of electric keyboards and wonderful use of Jeff Lynnes voice in the high octaves. Excellent music for such a legendary group.

  • Havnt heard this for ages thanks for posting. I remember it first coming out showing my age now, brings back good memories though.

  • Yea!!!!

  • моя любимая группа!Спасибо за то что выставил это

  • Time, favorite ELO album, with my favorite intro to an album.

  • A song about a person who just watched a YouTube poop.

  • we've been over this before...it is not a cylon. it is the robot from athf in his first appearance.

  • the prologue to this summarizes my years of exponentially, unintentionally suicidal excessive drug abuse, the draining of my bank account and loss of friends and family and eventual decent into feeling the need to carry kitchen knives with me and clinically confirmed insanity so perfectly it's amazing

  • @lexichronicle wow finally someone like minded......i lost my kitchen knives though......come to think of it i lost the 80`s along the way as well

  • Any tune featuring vocoding is a guaranteed winner

  • Just on the border of your waking mind.

There lies another time, where darkness and light are one.

And as you tread the halls of sanity, you feel so glad to be unable to go beyond.

I have a message from another time.

  • Oh for Christsakes...The opening is clearly a fucking Cylon from Battlestar Galactica ready to kick some ass. SHEEESH....wake the fuck up you 21st century men!!!!

  • I loved this album and played it to death when I was a kid. So I bought the CD and settled down for those memories to flow. And then my kids just ripped the piss right out of it! I should have seen that one coming from all the way back in 1981 :-)

  • @ZteveO "And then my kids just ripped the piss right out of it!"

    he he he he 8D

  • This is better than anything else called Twlight. Ever.

  • This was my best time . . . I was Young and I had been exposed to the best of everything of music.

  • this song definitly brings back awesome memories i would want to come back

  • I agree it's one of their best. I saw them live 5 times last year and they played this song at every gig, it was awesome.

  • @Azanti Live, 5 times last year? Please elaborate,; are you saying you saw ELO recently or was it the knock-off band formed by the drummer Bev Bevan ELO Part Two. I was under impession Jeff Lynne just doesn't tour anymore, prefers to produce for other bands. Or are you just having fun, wishing you could see them again, kinda like the main character in the TIME concept album(living in future but longing for the past). Did I expose you "punking" us?

  • I LOVE this song. <3

  • *happy sigh* I just worked out the chord progressions for this on the piano. I couldn't be happier. Jeff Lynne is an amazing composer. A lot of the classical stuff I've learned can't touch this for harmonic and timing complexity.

  • I agree totally. I've drawn so much inspiration, also on a subliminal level, from these tunes over the years... Jeff Lynne is truly a musical genius, also from a producer point of view.. Always very innovative ways of arranging and producing these masterpieces.. A lot of the production work he's done is epic from a tech point of view, given the avaliable technologies at the time when this was made.. And it still sounds f'in great! Perhaps the album title should have been "Timeless" instead..:-)

  • @janiscortese

Interesting. I play piano too, and am curious about the harmonic complexity you found in this track. Care to share a few details? You can just send me a message if you don't wanna get into theory here in the thread (either way is cool with me).

I'm not being sarcastic, BTW. Am totally serious. :-)

  • So good. Just ordered the album for £5

  • Superb Album from the great Jeff Lynne and the band..
