@MegaDucati99 Sorry but you're probably make about 100whp less so I doubt it pulls "as hard", my car now makes about 100whp more than I did this video, it was worth it
@MegaDucati99 Dumb thing to say you cant even see the speedo or tach or anything enough to tell how hard that thing is accelerating... Yours might sound like it pulls just as hard but theres no way you bang through the gears like that in tibby without F/I or Nitrous or something
with a 5 speed you'll have traction issues regardless, just like the 6 speed on this video. your 60ft. time(@ a track) determines what your 1/4 time will be. that means the outcome of the launch and how fast it will accelerate will almost be the same. its supercharged with bolt ons. it WILL move through the gears with a similar power delivery....
@2quickk Yeah, the 5 speed will accelerate exactly the same and I got some race slicks to get my traction under control as well as swapping in a Sentra spec v 6 speed transmission, the tires at this time were pretty worthless as you can tell I'm making about 100 more whp now.
Woot 80 mph! Haha Jk very nice I hope to have a custom turbo kit made for my tib very soon :) hey if you want an exotic sound do what I did. Straight pipe to a glasspack :) especially if it's a v6
@ipodsrdabest That's funny you ask because my friend has an 06' Cobalt SS I beat him with the mods I had at the time, we are upgrading his car to stage 3, but my car is still faster as I have much more mods since this video. I'll post a dyno vid soon, but I was making around 262whp/240wtq at the time of this video. I am making roughly 25% more power now.
@thebigcahoona This was an Alpine supercharger (mp62), but they are no longer sold in the us (unless bought used). NGM is only seller of roots type supercharger kit
That's the other thing I thought it could be was torque steer. Mine is bone stock and it has torque steer. I can't imagine what it would be like with heavy mods.
FOR BEST PERFORMANCE IF YOUR WILLING YOU WANT TO PUT IN A RACING FLYWHEEL. I HAVE 05 TIBBY AND ITS JUST LIKE THIS VIDEO, I CAN SAY UPGRADE FLYWHEEL AND YOUR FEELING THE ATTITUDE!!
My clutch was replaced but because of it's 'pull' style clutch, I was actually told by the mechanic who changed my clutch that you can't get any heavy duty pull type clutches that could be installed on my car as they don't exist! And insisted on this despite me literally showing him at least 3 different one's that I had found through my own research. So despite my instructions for using an aftermarket clutch he goes and puts another stock one in. needless to say he's no longer my mechanic.
@IIIRuin Your mechanic is right you cant make a decent pull type clutch that will hold a lot of power. The clutch in this video I went through about 4 of them after busting snap ring after snap ring. I now have converted to push style twin disc clutch which NGM sells. It's not cheap but it's not cheap to mod the tib either. I would recommend no greater than a stage 2 clutch centerforce or clutchmasters and stay away from SPEC & XTD clutches (their flywheel is ok).
@97markviii love the sound of the s\c, how does the car perform for normal daily driving with a s\c, has fuel consumption gone down? how often do u have to service it?
@IrrepressibleGuile daily driving it wasn't bad, it used more fuel at this level I can't remember how much more. The s/c doesn't need service usually for 100,000 miles. I changed clutches every 10,000 miles as the tiburon pull design is junk when you want to make power. I now have twin disc clutch.
@97markviii ouch expensive as hell! i have the i4 tiburon and when i pay it off im planning on going Forced Induction and i much prefer the S/C over the turbo...ill prolly just get a stage 2 from clutch masters...but anyways nice tib man! vids like these make me proud to own a tib
@Masterp5708 indeed! i did alot of reserch and talked to alot of people who know their shit about forced induction and on an i4 it would consume alot of engine power to get the supercharger spooling so id prefer going turbo now lol but i still prefer the whine of a s/c
i get that but wouldent it die down the torque from the drag on the crank haveing to turn it thats whear you loose power. the 2.7 is a lil v6 whith a lot of torque already i see what you mean by the supercharger i just dont see the price in it win it dont put out much hp i think the stage one is 3000 and only 35 hp gain thats lame yet easy to put on
@74drift I think with the tiny mp62 I was making 120whp over stock. Now I would say about 160whp over stock or 110% increase in power. I think with stage one you're closer to 50-60whp over stock. S/C torque curve is pretty flat all the way across and the hp has a steady climb, there is no lag. Instant power and the s/c only robs me of like 2-5% at the crank.
so why go whith the supercharger over a turbo / turbo is way more cheaper yet you cant run as much boost i just made a turbo kit for my 2.7 and it cost me 500 dollers i took the stock set up of a stelth r/t and fliped it up side down twin turbos bolted on quite nice the headers are the same set up yet the trans in the stelth is on the right and the tibby is on the left i used the supercharger injectors and i never tuched the fule pump il have it tuned win i get my money from my clutch in octobe
@blown06tc Thanks, the stock motor is built pretty well for n/a and not much needs to replaced internally for more power. The crank is already forged so with forged pistons and rods it's theoretically good to about 800hp. The biggest problem is the stock compression is 10.1:1 and the rings are gapped tight so you need to be careful when pushing more boost and have a decent tune/setup. But with higher compression and boost makes for more power ;)
@97markviii Yea Im in the same position, boosted with forged crank but not so good rods and pistons @ 10.1:1 compression, one day it will change though lol. Nice build, keep it up.
@jimmypop2006 LOL, by the time you're boosting enough for these parts to become an issue you've already passed what most people consider "safe boost" which on most if not all cars is about 10psi. Below this level the heads are not an issue.
@sradac The aluminum block its self, would have no problem seeing a lot of power. Its the stock rod bearings, and main bearings, that need to be replaced. Along with the pison rings. There are tiburons pushing 400bhp on the aluminum block, and they run just fine.
