  • did you learn by ear?

  • What do you mean "Titanic xaphoon"? It looks like a normal sized xaphoon to me.

Seriously though, I love the xaphoon. Only just found out about it a little while ago, and have been way into the music.

  • can you post the fingering for that song it wood be nice

  • You're a bit sharp & flat, but your fingering is nice.

  • nice

  • I like your playing! very nice! =D

  • is it hard to learn how to play it?

  • wow funny guy! :)

  • e aonde eu posso achar um instrumento deste?

sera q eu posso achar aki mesmo no Brasil?

  • Hey you sound great! I just bought a xaphoon and I am having trouble playing it. Just getting the sound out itself is hard. I am trying to blow as hard as possible with keeping a tight lower lip as was suggested. Still doesn't sound good at all. Any tips for a newbie..?

  • Hi good to hear your learning to play the xaphoon. Make sure you roll your lower lip slightly over your lower teeth. place about 1/2 inch of the reed in your mouth resting the reed over your lower lip. don't cover the holes at first. first try to generate a good tone. practice makes perfect :p.

I live in Brazil and I love musical instruments but here there shapoon and I saw the videos that is a very different ai to making one, and I'm with some doubts

the reed it is the same as saxonfone high? as is the scale of it? tight all the holes he's a Bb?

    thanks for the answers

  • this version of the xaphoon( the ABS pocket sax) is in the key of C. There are other versions in other key's. The reed being used is a tenor sax reed.

  • Massey,

O Xapphon (lê-se "zafum") usa a mesma palheta do saxofone tenor. Ele é afinado em dó (começa no dó central do piano) mas existem modelos com outras afinações também.

  • anybody knows if it's possible to tune it? i love it and i'm thinking about buying one, but i'd use it in a brass band and it would be difficult to play with an untuned instrument...

  • It is not possible to tune it. The only way you can "tune" is with your mouth position and tension . You can easily bend a tone a full note. It takes some practices however to play always every note high and low in tune.

  • cool man.. sounds good

  • How did you learn to play the Xaphoon? I am a sax player and just bought a Xaphoon but find the mouthpiece difficult. Any tips or tricks?

  • dude it's not that different.. make sure u put the mouthpiece a little deeper into my mouth when blowing.. i found that helpful..

  • a cross between you raise me up and my heart will go on me thinks

  • This was is made of plastic. Doesn't change a lot to the sound I think

  • Is it made of bamboo or plastic?

  • I've never heard that song but the playing was great...very expressive...nice

  • Does that require a reed? I play alto sax, and dude, that was beautiful! Great!

  • yup, a tenor sax reed

from one alto player to another, it's fairly easy and fun to play once you get used to the mouthpiece

  • The mouthpiece of a Xaphoon what is odd about it ?

  • it's just different than that of an alto sax. it takes some time getting used to it if you've been playing a sax for four years :) i couldn't even get air through it the first time i played one

  • Didn't you see the ligature? That means there's a reed, specifically a tenor reed.

  • Very nice Instrument!

    I play Alto Saxophone!

Is it easy to play for me?

    Is it the same handling?

  • nice playing, crappy glasses

  • Hmm...Why don't you try to pick up a Xaphoon and play this song without any fucking music infront of you. Give us all a break and stop your negativity, please and thank you.

  • shows how much you know about xaphoon.... this guy has an amazing, sweet tone considering the flaws of this instrument....

  • NSo cool. Im thinking about buying one of these, I used to play the sax when I was younger but I gave it up for some dumb reason. Is it hard to find the notes for random songs?

  • sounds like a mix between a sax, a clarinet, and a recorder

  • Really great, but a few notes were a bit out of tune. Overall pretty excellent though.

  • is the music for a saxophone the same for a pocket sax? and great job :)

  • awesome!! nice vibrato, and just a gorgeous song altogether.

btw, is the xaphoon an instrument you would recommend for a 4-year alto sax player?

  • When you can play the sax it isn't very difficult to play xaphoon. The only thing you need to master is the placement of your fingers.

  • thanks

  • Nice one! I suck on my Xaphoon...I don't mean i literally suck on it, I blow on it...yeah I blow on the Xaphoon.

  • awesome XD and great vibrato

  • wow that was great, adding to favorites 5/5

  • Nicely Done!

  • yay first comment :)

great instrument, great song, all up: great performance, 5 stars!
