  • I dedicate this song to Erwan Pierre-Yves Dagorn..... wherever you are.

  • hyfryd

  • my name is erwann Bouedo I am supposed to be a britton and a celt but what is that anyhow?how do those welsh fit into this cultural identity

  • @erwannbd Britons are a type of Celt. That's what the Welsh are. The other type of Celt is Goidelic (aka Gaels)--which are the Irish. Scottish people are a mixture of Britons, Gaels, and Picts (a tribe of people who lived in Scotland), although there is evidence that the Picts may also have been Britons. The Welsh, the Cornish, and the Bretons of France are Britons.

  • @erwannbd

erwann i need to talk to you please email me

  • Meinir, you certainly do this song justice, as for Meic Stevens, who is the original singer, cannot sing, have you recorded this?'

  • Thanks for my name !! i love you !!

  • amazing song, beautifull singer and the worlds most beautifull language! what a combination!

  • Gân hardd yw.

    Mae'n hardd.

    Hardd yw'r iaith canu.

  • Mae Meinir yn canu yn hyfryd.

    Dwi i fewn cariad.

  • Amazing song!

  • Meic Stevens has also written two other excellent songs inspired by Brittany: 'Douarnanez ' (about the fishing town in Penn-ar-Bed) and 'Rue sant Michel' a street in Roazon. Both great song and very popular.

  • The song is in Welsh by Meic Stevens and about a Breton freind, Erwan who's died. He sings about his friend about how the French have tried to kill the Breton language and spirit too.

'mae'r Ffrancwyr wedi methu' - The French have failed

'Ti'n chwerthin ar eu pennau' - you're laughing on their heads i.e. laughing at them (the French).

  • @maffwto Thanks for explaining the lyrics!Diolch yn fawr

  • Very nice song but what's language is it?

  • Mamadou56, this song is in Welsh (often called 'the language of heaven'), and Meinir Gwilym is a Welsh singer. My Welsh isn't too good, but looking at some lyrics, the singer is addressing an old friend from Brittany named Erwan. I'm kinda interested in it now - is Erwan dead or just far away (lots of references to being 'over the water' at least)? My Welsh isn't good enough to translate it properly. :)

  • I love this song so much !

Moroever my name is Erwan : )

  • awed boiio da iawn chdi

  • Erwan, kenavo!

Good bye, Erwan (in Breton). I don't speak Welsh, but it must be a sad song.
