  • terrible. 80 percent garbage talk. let hear the mic for heavensake. Your talkie is not interesting!

  • Bad quality on that evidence dave!

  • r u able to use the rode podcaster for recording singing/screaming??

  • It looks like a dildo...

  • I've heard much better audio out of that mic. Still nothing compared to the Procaster.

  • Rode make some really quality products! Great review once again Dave :)

  • What's the best mic I could get for less than $150?

  • @Tejpalg3 This is a good choice or an Audio Technica AT2020USB.

  • @Tejpalg3 the blue yeti $99 on amazon

  • What's better? A mic that connects to your computer with a USB or one that connects through a microphone Jack? Which one has better sound quality?

  • @Tejpalg3 Both can be the same, the ultimate control would be XLR.

  • I dont know dave, you sound a bit muffled and is the popping accidental?? Thx!

  • @BarrysBit The muffled is just how it sounded, the popping is due to some issue with FCPX.

  • The mic is just been overloaded, cardiod pattern mics are effected by the proximity effect so if the sound source gets too close there is a boost in the lower frequencies, this creates pops and it will make it sound muffled because in comparison the bass frequencies are a lot louder.

Best thing to do is to keep a distance of your handspan away from the mic and use a pop shield to get rid of plosives.

  • "STUNNING" =D

  • @davomrmac thanks for clarifying that keep up the great videos

  • crackling on your 'rode' recording - you need to redo it to eliminate that. Sounded muffled. your normal mic for your videos is actually much better quality. also using the rode mic made you sound somewhat robotic. remember, Ten Year Warranty !!

  • again very good video :) i have to say that is a beast of a microphone :) shame about the crackle with FCPX :( didnt really do it any justice but the clarity was superb.

whats the mic you use, that you clip onto your shirt when you record sometimes?

  • @mroberts531 It is a Sony ECM-AW3.

  • Looks great, looking for a good mic for the desk might be in the running.

  • Must've been an issue with the audio recording, as the quality is quite bad.

  • this mic is too overpriced for this audio quality. even the cheaper audio technica is better

  • i really like the look of the mic, nice video again.

  • @TheTechMovement Thanks, I really like this mic too.

  • Hm, other reviews on this product, the sound is by far better.. Must be something wrong with yours.

  • @DahlbergProductions It was fine, just a FCPX issue.

  • Made in Australia! Aussies FTW ; )

  • Thumbs up if you think Dave should go to the IFA in Berlin

  • @fab3337 Maybe next year.

  • Its not as clear as your other mic. It seems like your talking through a cloth.

  • The build quality is amazing. This rode is certainly not for podcasts. Self-defence sounds better.

  • Apart from the problems caused in the recording by FCPX the microphone lacks top end clarity and is distinctly muffled compared to the microphone you are using for the rest of the review.

I would personallt want a little more at the top end - 14Khz is a little poor

  • nice

  • Great video.

  • the audio quality was great but something was clicking...and this is just me but I like your "unboxing mic" better...the one that you use usually...:D

  • @Danny940304 FCPX was doing that.

  • @davomrmac Oh ok...I have no idea what is that...but ok :)))

  • @Danny940304 It can take a little while to get all the settings sorted when you get a new mic. Often you'll find people's audio is a bit meh when they first get it then it gets better as they work out how to tweak it to get the best from it.

  • it has a popping sound when u talk...

  • There are quite a few pops in the audio, maybe a pop filter would fix that. :)

  • @joethetechiewiipsp This is FCPX.

  • Some here sound like it was in a different room, please check your youtube vid.

  • OMG 10 Year Guarantee :| Is That Real?

  • This vid need a note in the description that FCPX is messing with the mic audio, part of the review is to hear the mic so currently its pretty misleading unless you read through the comments. Either that or drop in an edited version with the 'real' audio represented.

  • cool,Rode make some great looking mic's i must say,I was looking at one the other day tbh,I do like how this one is finished,Glossy white with the silver mesh.

I was also eager to hear the sound quality so i could compare it to the AT2020's clarity,TBH it sound's a little muffled,Still good for podcasting i think, but not good enough for Voice Over work,Also i was amazed at the fact that for the price it never came with a desk mount of any sort,as the AT2020/Snowball have them included,Great Vid

  • it was a bit clicky and muffled for some reason

  • Your audio technica is much better! Just saying :)

  • @ShadowAudio Thanks for the feedback.

  • Dear dave,

Finally a sever review of this microphone! Wanted one for a while now but reviews on YouTube sucked! Thanks and jeep up the good work!

    -Sean

  • @seansmacintosh Will do :) thanks.

  • Why was it crackling?

  • @BewareOfTheRabbit FCPX caused this.

  • Hi Dave, great review but I have to correct you, this is actually a dynamic microphone, not a condenser microphone :)

  • @TheZetReviewer thanks.

  • "These are ridged designs that make it look very distinct" I'm sorry Dave... But it's like a dildo lol!

  • It sounded a bit muffled and clicky to me :S

  • @h3nc0 it sounded clicky because of the audio codec that he use to render with the video in Final Cut Pro X

  • @ChronicIllusionsTV I am struggling with FCPX clicks, you know how to avoid or fix?

  • @davomrmac yes I personal messaged you the fix dave

  • @h3nc0 At a guess I'd say somethings gone wrong at the export stage of this video.

  • A mic is a mic, but still an ok review

  • What mic are you using for this video?

  • @Lurker1979 Built in mic on my SD700.

  • great dave!, i love that mic.

  • @nautbijker Cheers for watching.

  • sweet

  • @poerik Thanks.
