No offense I know what a gauge is obviously. and gauging is stretching of the piercing...gauge is the word you specifically use for the size... I've heard people use both words. whatever floats your boat. But for someone who has their licence in piercings and care.....Id back the hell off. I'd never say nice millimeters in your ears...because then you're getting into what jewelry they have in their ear whether it'd be plugs or tapers perhaps.

No. You use tapers as a stretching tool for size 00 and below. But after stretching you put your plug/tunnel in. Then they should never be used again as the taping method should be used.

It doesn't matter what you CAN get that doesn't mean its RIGHT. You can get acrylic jewlery and silicon jewlery, yet those are unsafe for your ears. You can get things like hot topics morbid metals and other things claiming to be metal with a dangerously high niickle count, still unsafe.
And if they're a reputable piercer I would know who they are
@AshIsAWolf and I would encourage anyone not to get nething unsafe. At our shop we have a hole case off glass and organic based jewelry. Hot topics jewelry is cheap but often not worth it. Do you know anyone in ME? I see this as just something silly since if u read through this its all over one word....stretching and gauging...ik very well over 00 if not until 1/2'' inch u can use tapers for those whose ears take a while longer to stretch. and also if you have smaller lobes that you can't shock.

Calling tapers incorrect isn't a point of view, its a fact. They are more likely to tear the fistula and push it outwards causing a blowout.

@AshIsAWolf .....and no offense every lobe is diff. some ears take more then one night to stretch. and no ABSOLUTELY not I'd never say that you'll fell pressure but if you are doing it right they should NEVER bleed/or tear...that happens when people shove it right through without it stretching. With my right ear the flares just slipped right through, I didn't have to stretch it, for the left I used tapers up to a 00. Now I'm going to start using PTFE or bondage tape and tape up.

Acctually it wouldn't be a size 8 gauge being handed to you. Because then the person could very well walk out to their car and get you a GAUGE. That would be a dermal punch or taper.

And you have shown you don't know what a dermal punch it. Its a tube shaped piece of metal. (When using on the ear) its pushed on the front of the lobe into a receiving tube until it goes through and left inside is a chunk of the flesh.

I have seen both forms of it quite frankly some shops have a gun form of them....oh but you know ALLLLLL about that don't you. we have both depending on the piercer they will use either. again thanks for proving urself to not know the ins and outs of a piercing shop.

You can't stretch with a stud or hoop (that's called dead stretching and guarentees a blowout). Nor can you pierce with them. You were speaking of a tool to pierce with.

I've heard people use both words. whatever floats your boat. But for someone who has their licence in piercings and care.....Id back the hell off. No. You use tapers as a stretching tool for size 00 and below. But after stretching you put your plug/tunnel in. Then they should never be used again as the taping method should be used.

It doesn't matter what you CAN get that doesn't mean its RIGHT. You can get acrylic jewlery and silicon jewlery, yet those are unsafe for your ears. You can get things like hot topics morbid metals and other things claiming to be metal with a dangerously high niickle count, still unsafe.

@AshIsAWolf and I would encourage anyone not to get nething unsafe. At our shop we have a hole case off glass and organic based jewelry. Hot topics jewelry is cheap but often not worth it. Do you know anyone in ME? I see this as just something silly since if u read through this its all over one word....stretching and gauging...ik very well over 00 if not until 1/2'' inch u can use tapers for those whose ears take a while longer to stretch. and also if you have smaller lobes that you can't shock.

With my right ear the flares just slipped right through, I didn't have to stretch it, for the left I used tapers up to a 00. Now I'm going to start using PTFE or bondage tape and tape up.

I myself have had to wear them more than just one night I know lots of people who have had tapers in for a week because their lobes take a while to hold a stretch for their ears to accept a plug. I have spoken my long piece about gauging.

@AshIsAWolf soo u telling me....if my lobe doesn't stretch within a few mins to be able to put a plug in you are telling me I need to shove in the plug....even though its not ready....hmmm that would cause splitting hurting and bleeding huh? thought so....when you have tapers in to stretch your lobe....are you not wearing them.....they are in your ear right? sooo Im not wearing it even though it's in my ear.... and you don't stretch tapers....you stretch your hole... :p

@AshIsAWolf my lobes are small so if I don't go slower than normal my ears will blow out. much like quite a few friends of mine we all have small ears so again I'll keep doing my thing....because I will wait till my ear easily accepts the plug and not shove it through... :p

@AshIsAWolf and why did I say what incorrectly? using the word gauge....? when you get into piercing you use the word gauge a lot!!!! Because when someone comes to you and gets something pierced they can get it at any gauge they want. and when you work in a shop and need a certain sized piercing...U DONT FUCKING say hey can you hand me a size 8 stretch.... :p

Acctually it wouldn't be a size 8 gauge being handed to you. Because then the person could very well walk out to their car and get you a GAUGE. That would be a dermal punch or taper.

@AshIsAWolf .....do u work in a shop? the dermal punch is the gun or tool you use to indeed cut the certain size hole...however I was clearly speaking of what you put in the hole taper size would be called a _____ gauge taper...... thanks though. And you have shown you don't know what a dermal punch it. Its a tube shaped piece of metal. (When using on the ear) its pushed on the front of the lobe into a receiving tube until it goes through and left inside is a chunk of the flesh.

I have seen both forms of it quite frankly some shops have a gun form of them....oh but you know ALLLLLL about that don't you. we have both depending on the piercer they will use either. again thanks for proving urself to not know the ins and outs of a piercing shop.

@AshIsAWolf no truly that is my bad. I NEVER use it. Never have never will. I feel as a piercer they are indeed bad. ESP for nose piercings and dermal punches.(those are the top 2 incorrect uses for guns) And yes the shop I work at is very high class. I worked part time at my cousins place and I quit SPECIFICALLY because he doesn't do certain things right. (not that you needed to know)
