  • wow, beautiful rendition

  • 50 tries, that's dedication. would it be easier to lip read or learn sign language for someone who is deaf? What percentage of the population is completely deaf?

  • @redice1024 Most Deaf people do not lip read. It's a skill that one can develop, but ASL is the language of the Deaf community and therefore ASL should always be the preferred mode of communication when interacting with the Deaf.

It is difficult to say what percent of the population is "completely" deaf because there are different degrees of deafness. My roommates, who both fit the medical definition for deafness, can hear the fire alarm and one can hear music (when she absolutely blasts it).

  • @redice1024 one of my best friends cant hear anything but she can feel things. like she cant hear the fire alarm or hear music but can feel the vibrations. but she does lip read to an extent. when we sign we also lip things. and sometimes i feel that she is reading my lips more then looking at what im signing. so i would say to sign and mouth the words.
