@yongslicer from what i'm learning through the free classes im taken, no. ASL (American Sign Language) is more like a broken sentence kind of way of 'talking'. ESL would be like if you were born to speak only English.. then that's your 'native tongue'. If you took up ESL, it's a second language.. sorry if this isn't helpful. I'm learning slowly but surely thorough classes : )

This is one of my favorite songs.. I never knew about you until someone one twitter I'm following posted a link to your Diane  Swayer special. I watched it and I thought wow that's awesome :). I know a little sign language. I took it in high school for about 2 years. I actually did a video of me signing but it was pretty bad because I hadn't done it in a long time lol. love your videos can't wait to see more :).

According to YouTube's video order, this is your first video... Although this video is perfectly watchable, wow you have really done a good job since then making your videos good video quality, good framerate, and good audio quality. Even back then your ASL was good. I can't imagine how bad I was in ASL in 2007 compared to now lol.

hey i was wondering, what is the order that you sign.. because in one of your how to videos. . i saw that you just kind of skipped the small words like , the and, an, .. yeah. do you know what i mean? if you could.. could you answer that question.. like what order do you do? and how do you know when to just skip words?

asl is done in the order of time topic comment. everythings dragged out. asl wants you to explain EVERYTHING. it's hard to just explain it because it's a visual language not a written language.

Only Signed English (different system), uses all the words. ASL, because of the visual and spatial orientation of the signs, doesn't need the articles "a", "an", and "the". In order to emphasize things without the articles, just make sure that you direct attention to the signs and the placeholders. Look up other ASL songs and you will get the idea.

yes there is a difference.

ASL word order is very different. ESL seems to go along with English word order, like we use in everyday terms.

To kinda reinforce this, ESL is generally seen (by professionals anyway) as a signing system, while ASL is a distinct language.

i like this song but i noticed that your face expression is flat. you didnt show your emotion feeling and no mouth show. i like the way u do that when u sign and u move left to right "whether it's wrong or right". i didnt mean to offend you. if u do facial expression and show emotion feeling about what this song mean, then it will be beautiful!

i couldnt agree more, however, i signed this song earlier on in my ASL career.

therefore, my facial expressions were not as fluid and natural.

i do agree that it needs more expression, but i posted it to show how i have progressed.

wow I love your videos I hope I can sign like you someday. I find your expressions and the emotions you put into your iterpretations to be very inspiring and something I hope I can achieve someday.My cousin Kelly Jones goes to Baylor University to,I've been loking into 4 year colleges with a good Sign Language Program because I want to learn and eventualy get a teaching degree and become a professor at a Gallaudet college, so did you take sign classes at Baylor or did you learn somewhere else?

you should definitely go to a school with a good interpreting/asl/deaf ed program.

wow i'm glad you are posting on you tube.. i've always thought that signing was so beautifull the way they express them selfs is so powerfull , we hearing people could learn a lesson from them. your asl is very good. i'm stil beginning, only in dsl ( dutch sign language) but it looks pretty much the same.. dsl and asl are very similair. keep on doing this, is very beautifull.
