@RickMakesGoodVideos Last DC-10 flight for AA was in Nov, 2004. They gradually began to replace them with 767-300/MD-11 aircraft thru the 80's/90's. After the MD-11 did not meet expectations the 777 was brought in.
I love the DC10, I just hate the fact our friend Rhonda Sue was on 191 in May 1979. It's a great, great plane but tends not to function right when they USE FORKLIFTS instead of SLINGS when doing maint. procedures >:-( And that was absolutely against MD procedures. CoreyLynxx you're right it's an awesome plane. And to Captain Lux -- people still miss you.
It's a shame these beautiful airships got such a bad rep. Mostly due to poor maintenance. The AA DC-10's were brilliant with their polished silver. Like bullets in the sky. The way those engines scream. =)
My last vacation to Hawaii was back in '99 or '00 and there was a water park out in the water near the end of the reef runway on the Honolulu side.
That was probably on of the most memorable days of my life. AA, Hawaiian, Continental, Northwest, JAL DC-10's, Delta and ATA L1011's and all the asian carrier 747's......absolute heaven with them flying closely overhead on their takeoff.
lol dc-10 was the best for AA its a beuatiful aircraft and a way to have it backits on flight simulator oh and i think that planemust've crashed by now
Acutally, their DC-10s' were used for medium and trans-con routes. Their usual pairings were cities like Los Angeles-Chicago or Dallas-New York and San Francisco - New York.
