Incredible game. One of he best FPS I've ever played (also Hexen). I lost count how many times I finished. I played in a DX-2 66 MHz with 4 MB Ram and an Adlib soundcard, 1995.

Ah this game, and its sequels are soo good. I realy the time when i was just three and played heretic and its sequels.

My friends just think this game is failed and look like shit. I don't care about it, they don't know how good these games and their story is. Still glad some folks still play this game and their sequels. Im one of those who still play this game and its sequels.

Im even planning on sewing Daedolon the mage from hexen,s robe and hood so i can have them on the medieval

@yayolomb Take go to the directory of either the heretic CD or where Heretic is installed and look for a file called HERETIC.WAD. Copy the file to the skulltag directory and then click on Skulltag.exe. A launcher will appear allowing you to start Heretic,

This game is just fuckin metal i remember when i was 9 my dad buying the game watchn him play it then he bought a new computer and let me have the old one with all the games on it in my room...i just sat in my room with the headphones blaring my dads old dio tapes..as young kid i thought of this game as a mans game u had to have balls to play it.i was a jumpy kid so i was jumpin everytime i went into a strobe light room and does god damn mummys came out of no were i never beated it. i almost did

Yep, damn hard to finish this game, just skipping stuff on the first level, without hitting all the secrets & weapons was disastrous. The ammo surplus was built in at only 13%, on purpose, from what I heard.

Nah, in Doom they is no item you can choose and select to increase your weapon to shoot down harder monster. Doom is much harder then this game since it only can choose one item to power-up your hub. This game in my opinion is pretty easy except if you play it in higher difficulty.

@shamalot44 ugh, its really easy to find all these games. On youtube, type in "old FPS mega pack" or similar until you stumble upon a download link, thats what i did.

These games are best with source ports, not with dosbox though, thats the troof.

The game is basically Doom with a fantasy skin, I remember a piece of software that let you convert the original Doom .wad-files so you could play them in Heretic, good old times :)

@Gardena380 Yep. I tried using God-mode in Heretic yesterday, and the game killed me and a message popped up that said, "Trying to cheat, eh?" I don't know which game is older--Heretic or Doom--but the fact that Heretic was designed to nullify the cheat codes and Doom isn't....I was surprised, to say the least. lol

@MelodiousMusician yeah! IDDQD kills you and IDKFA removes all your weapons. The reason is because Heretic was depeloped after Doom I, so for shit and giggles they inverted the effect of those codes.

This game was definitely an improvement over Doom because it had collectable and usable items.

It would be even BETTER if it had mana and you could use various spells regardless of the weapon you're holding (kinda like in Clive Barker's Undying). Like a spell to slow a few enemies or a spell that makes the ceiling collapse or something

to be honest i never really played heretic, even though i have it on my other computer. i was always more partial to doom 2. but my other computer is old and it doesnt work right at times. i would like to have this though. i dont think my system supports this though because i tried it and i got it installed and setup but it says it doesnt support fullscreen. i think its because i have windows 7. if anyone has any advice for me i would greatly apprectaite it.

If you want to play heretic on windows/vista no problem.First of all download heretic than download Skulltag than put heretic wad into the skulltag folder.Load skulltag chose the wad and play!!!

Of Corse You Could Use Some Doom Cheats... But Had Not The Same Effect

If You Put IDDQD (Deegreless mode in Doom) in Heretic... The Player Explodes and you can read "Trying To Cheat, Eh? NOW YOU DIE!"

Same Thing On IDKFA (Weapons) You Can Read "Cheater... You Don't Deserve Weapons"... And You Lost one of your weapons LOL
