Ok, I'm going to clarify something for everyone who "thinks" full-auto is the best way. No! It is better to accurately kill your target with a "burst" than to "scare" him with a full-auto spray.
No point in the pistol grip. The grip makes you lose the bipods, therefore you lose accuracy. The LMG is fired at least 60% of the time from the prone and is very inaccurate from the standing/kneeling position. Just watch the muzzle kick on the video when firing. Also, the guy isn't aiming properly all the time. A bit of a lick on section attacks and takes a long of time to clean, but an excellent weapon!! Just my opinion on my experience.
@swissfa18 It's about 21 pounds with a full drum (I'm not sure what it is in Kilos). The beauty of the weapon, is that it's light-enough to be carried, and it has great firepower.
@Billswiftgti I carried the M249 in Iraq from March 2003 - February 2004, except for one month. For the first part of the mission, I used an LCE, which is a "belt-suspender harness" that covered my armor. This was extremely useful because it evenly distributed the weight (water, ammo, tools, etc) across my body.

Who cares. A silencer doesnt scare enemies. If that minimi was shooting enemies at full auto without silencer the enemy would get scared and get behind cover. Meanwhile the main infantery can flank them. So yes, a silencer shouldnt be used on a lmg
@Fordje66 the suppressor isn't meant to scare the targets, they're used so the operator can still maintain verbal comms with the rest of the squad and ppl don't have to try and shout over loud automatic fire
A silencer is always usefull, you first identify where the enemy is from the crack noise, then you count how long the crack is to the thump of the incoming round to give you a distance, it would be very hard to give a target indication if the person shooting at you is using a silencer. Just because you've been dicked to carry the Minimi, doen't mean you want to get shot at lol.
@Gunsand42 I'm not in the SAS or anything but I would not want to be known AS FAST if I were a machine gunner, taking into consideration what capabilities the suppressor subtracts e.g. distance, power, penatration, FPS (especially with subsonic ammunition), ect..... However the "head-down" factor should be close to equal.

Having a suppressor will also make it easier for soldiers to talk to each other and coordinate assaults more easily. Besides, the guy in this vid was shooting in bursts, which is the ideal way of using light machine guns :)
Exactly, but what if a seal unit needing to be stealthy at first and is later an open fire operation needs suppression from an enemy position while they flank. Everything made for firearms has a purpose my friend.

You guys must be joking...pound for pound the American military has always been the overall greatest force in the world. The Navy Seals are proven to be the number one elite force among all of the specialty units (sas, spetsnaz, etc.). I highly respect the british and isrealis, but USA is still the best. @bubbles867 The SEALs are special forces. I think you have misunderstood that the US navy calls them "elite naval commandos". For Delta force they say exact the same "elite commandos". The Royal Marines are like the Marine FORCE RECON and Army rangers wich they are special operations CAPEABLE. But the point is there is no best if we talk about NATO sf. They are all pros and all equal. I am not attacking with this but get it trough your head that the Royal Marines are not like the SEALs.

@21Assasin They are called Bordo Bereliler. Which means Maroon Berets and they wear maroon berets. They do train in parachuting but they are not a special paratrooper unit.

why do we put a suppressor on an assault rifle?? to reduce the noice...same here.. what if you are a soldier in the special forces...your being dropped behind enemy lines and need to avoid contact without failing your objective....with a suppressed weapon you can take out a patrol without being detected...with a suppressed lmg you got the noice reduction but still have the fire power to be able to suppress the enemy and take them out with more damage than a reqular assault rifle.
