OMG. I made one that flies. For real. It was before I had YouTube so I took it apart and moved on. I'll rebuild it and make a video. It's simple. You need to gear for speed, lots of it. You need one motor and gears to make a counter rotation(or else it just spins wildly). And you need big scoop shaped pieces for blades. You must get an extra long wire or a wire extender because you need the nxt brick separately(or else it will be too heavy). You can add other motors to make t turn also. It's re

Hey! That's cool! I saw some occupied sensor ports, but I only noticed the light sensor for the LED, and the (invisible) sound sensor. Did you use the touch, ultra sonic, or other type of sensor to detect wether or not is was on the ground? If you have not integrated this already (if you did sorry for not noticing), then it would be cool to use a HiTechnic Gyroscopic or Accelerometer sensor to make it play other sounds and react to tilting while it's in the air. Nice project anyway.

Did you know that altering the gears can make it spin faster. Put a large gear directly at the motor and put the smallest gear you can find next to the large one. One rotation of the big gear equals more spins on a little gear.

You can make the routine go faster be attaching a big gearwheel to the motor, and then make it touch a small gearwheel, which will rotate the routines

hmm...you wont build a robot helicopter with lego parts, I'm sure of it, the motors aren't strong enough to power a speed enhancement gear system that will be capable of giving flight to an object or itself...

NXT motors are slow. You can never build a helicopter using NXT motors. They just dont have enough power and speed

@TheDrifter360 Not enough. I tried. You must make it spin until you cant see the thing spinning. NXT is just too weak. Besides, without something aerodynamic, you cant even get the thing to fly.
