On the contrary mate, in the Nurburgring, you have to be cautious for yourself, not for others. If you decide to go in the ring your own life is in your own hands. The Ring Taxi especially. If you go ahead or next to it you're on your own. They have an obligation to get their fare in 8 minutes or less. If you impede that, you'll suffer the consequences.

She is definately pushing hard with the M5, and the Porsche certainly is not. Obviously the 996 GT3 is quicker, as it's only 19 hp down and much lighter than the M5. I'd take either car, but the Porsche is certainly better on the track.

Sorry but is it me or a lot of guys here don't seem to understand the //m5. it is a proper wolf in sheep's clothing  as opposed to the Porsche being a wolf in wolves clothing, under the skin of the //m5 is proper motorsport engine so a proper super saloon it is with 4 doors, the Porsche also has a proper racing engine the only difference between the 2 is one has big power and seats 4 and the other has less power and seats 2. So please don't knock the //m5, just try one and see.

I think the porsche would beat the M5 if Sabine drove both cars. The porsche in this case had the benefit of following the M5, the porsche guy would not have been as fast if he didn't have Sabine to tell him where and when to brake. Not many people can drive that track faster than her.

GT3 is built to race around the track, but this video is only the GT3 playing with her while she is driving like an idi*t!

A 997 GT3 with a good driver will kill the M5. Even the older 996 GT3 was faster around the race track than the older E39 M5.

this M5 is called "ring taxi" you pay about 100euro and you get a nice lap over the ring, The nurburgring is more like an one way toll road. without speed limits. So busses are also aloud to driver there.

and sabine doesn't always goes for the speed, but mostly for the fun. and that's the power sliding and drifting trough the corners. It's also very nice to spectate it.

The Nurburgring is a public toll road...there are always busses out there and charge people for a tour. You can actually get ticketed for stupid driving by police watching from above and can only pass on the left...thats why they were laughing when she passed the bike on the right.

The 911 driver appeared to be spot-on at every bend, whilst hardly trying.

To me this video seemed to show Sabine 'over-driving', i.e. pushing too hard & missing apex's whilst trying to compensate for inferior equipment. NOT a good advert for either Schmidt or the E39 M5...

Also fonysan, you need to put the M5's performance into a fair context. The M5 was a similar price to the 996. However the performance was also similar. This is impressive for a fourdoor large car. Also in 99 The M5 had the same power as Ferraris new advanced F360.

The M5 is a great drive, unlike its jag XJR and e55 rivals it had a manual gearbox, a LSD and 400bhp. It was more pure than the later RS6 also. As an acheivement I think the M5 is more impressive than the 996gt3.

well, i think the 996 gt3 is obviously a better performer than the m5, but this bmw is a great performer if we think they were made to be luxury, confortable & fast in the highway.

Also today u can buy a fine working e39 m5 by around 20.000€ and just adding some goodies like bilstein pss9 , milltek full exhaust & yokohama parada u will get a nice match for almost anycar around the track by an affordable price.

The BMW probably has three passengers in it. That's the famous Ring Taxi and Sabine works/worked for them. Hard to make out in this video, but she routinely would have a car load of people when piloting that thing around the Ring. And they would pay big bucks to get a ride. What a racket, heh?
