Verizon and Att are bell companies Tmobile is not. After the deal goes through I am positive than Verizon will buy Sprint which means Duopoly and is one step away from MaBell. And after the merger and you buy an unlocked phone your only option is ATT which means it would be a Monopoly

LOLOL. No one here knows what Monopoly is. There are many other choices for cellphones including Verizon, and Sprint, and the pay-phones, like at&t go phones, Verizon's pay phones, Boost, and Virgin.

at&t has a superior network, but needs that extra coverage. It will not reduce an area's reception.

And in fact, T-mobile customers should expect to pay 20% less than at&t customers.

Public interest group Public Knowledge took a novel approach in its opposition to the deal, claiming that the merger was illegal under Section 314 of the Communications Act, which prohibits transactions between domestic and foreign companies that would "substantially lessen competition" for international communication or any other related "line of commerce."

That would make AT&T the only GSM carrier in the USA. That is considered a monopoly. Plus the merger would have so many anti-trust lawsuits waiting to happen if this merger succeeded.

@cloudkap I was talking to A TMobile Rep and according to her what will happen is anyone who already is under TMobile contract will be grandfathered into their plans for the remainder of the term...to give them a chance to decide if they like the new service (which they probably wont) while new customers (if any) will be under the shiny new ridiculously expensive plans. No one whom Ive ever talked too that has had AT&T can tell me with a strait face that the service is stellar and reasonably

priced. and I have a feeling that AT&T will hike rates up for current customers of TMobile, leaving them high and dry and both companies will just start losing business left and right. If AT&T wants to provide better service they should work on making their service better with building their own, and better, physical coverage plans, and better customer service, not do the lazy thing and just acquire someone else' hard work. This merger is making me think twice about getting Tmobile service...

The T-Mobile girl is hotter (and nice and soft too). You guys should have done it so that AT&T is a man and the T-Mobile woman are like an unhappy couple (marriage), and they give birth to an ugly baby (AT&T&T) ie. (a less efficient, more bureaucratic, job cutting, illegal monopoly (which AT&T already was and then the FCC still allowed them to swallow up all the baby Bells and become even more of a monopoly than they were in the 70s and 80s) with the worst customer service in the industry.
