I do believe in the covering of the word because the word says so. I do understand how you feel. I pray God gives us all clearity when searching His word. In addition I want to reference a comment about "not about the outward appearance" which can be misleading. The scriptures says:1 Timothy 2:9 ¶In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" God does care about appearance.
@cmwilla1011 Oh yes, I agree God does care about appearance. My only concern is that we not concentrate on appearance only, but on the total man. SO often, men and women come into the church-dressed up on the outside and looking all too well-but the inward man is corrupt and unjust. My prayer is that the inward part would be committed to the way of holiness before and/or along with the outer man. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

I think it is beautiful that more women are choosing to cover. But only suggest that one covers if she is convicted to do. There are hints in the Scriptures about women actually wearing a GARMENT over the head. Yes a women's hair is her beauty but this is what men find quite *alluring*. Read Gen24:65,Num5:18 Women wore head coverings outside of prayer also. When they were out amongst men especially. When I go out I get LOTS of respect at the store, mall, gas station etc. Shalom!
@SevenBranched I enjoyed reading your posts and really appreciate your thoughts and understand your love for doing so. I love it as well, and do NOW cover almost all the time.
Hello, I cover my hair every day..praying or not praying. I base it on ICorinth11. I am Natsari Hebrew(the Faith of the Apostles and believe in Messiah) and I am *not* married. I don't think itmakes you a bad person to note cover all the time but we all go through stages of conviction. It takes time for some, for me I jumped into it! I actually wear to muslim style covering which *for me* is easier and very beautiful and simple. The wind blows I am not constantly adjusting..lol.
Hello Sister, I appreciate that at least you are asking the questions. As I understand this topic, it is the woman's glory that is to be covered simply because God will not share glory with anyone.
@katbalu Hi I'm replying to your comment on the head covering video, to answer your question about do I myself cover, the same verse in Corinthians says if a man covers his head while he prays or prophesies then he dishonors his head...so anytime I pray, even if its just to say grace, I always remove my hat (if i'm wearing one).
@jcnicker89 oh, I'm sorry. I assumed you were a woman so I my question was directed to your choice. I agree with that scripture reference if you're a man.
You referenced that a woman's long heir is her covering, but how long is long? The bible doesn't specify a length for a woman's hair, so would it not be on the safe side to keep it covered anyway?
@jcnicker89 if I said a womans long hair is her covering then I may have said that in error. I haven't watched this vid in a while. What I think I was referencing was what Paul said in 1st Cor about a womans hair being her covering. I cover my head sometime...usually with one of my different wraps, but I don't feel out of order without a hat on...Do you cover?
@404momii Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to watch. Her name is lyfie09 and she is a very gifted woman of God. Check her out and sub her too:) Her link's on my channel. Godspeed~
@katako1 idk. I wasn't aware that pastor's wives were being called pastors. I've not heard that in my circle. However in my case_ I have and am in Bible college and am most definitely called, but do not refer to myself as a pastor. Minister yes, pastor no.
hi sister my the lord christ always be with you . i do cover my head ever time i pray or enter the house of the lord . yes just like you read its in the bible . at the church that i attend the ladys there do not cover there head at all . they see me with my covering and question me wrong . sister do pray to the lord he will show you the way . these days we all want to do what we want and what feels good and no what we need or must do . i have been covering my head for 9 years . amen
doing things to please people isn't pure. so it is good, as you said, that you are moving as HE s leading you. i wear jeans...i feel very much that it is where i am supposed to be , and i know if i changed just to please people i would get into a cycle where they would always come before GOD. sooooooo i really enjoyed how well you articulated your points and i think you look beautiful covered...shalom
so glad i came across this....and funny enough i just made a video simular a few days ago. i know that belivers in MESSIAH all come from different cultures but in HIM, HIS SPIRIT, SCRIPTURES we are one, as you put it. i believe people must be lead by the HOLY SPIRIT so that it is done in spirt and truth. that goes for alot of other things as well. i cover my head, not because i'm messianic jew or that is my cultural norm, but because HE told me to. we must seek what HIS will is alone....
Obviously I am not a pastor's wife. But I wanted to say I admire your sincerity and humbleness with which you approach the subject matter. Ive seen it both way. I grew up in an old Holiness church that believed the hair was the covering and therefore should not be cut. We also had similar groups who used hats. The Amish use coverings with regards to it being a prayer cloth. I think that if a person is humble enough , God honors it whether its the hair or a hat.
@davy75az I sincerely thank you for your compliment with regard to the question at hand and the way I approached it. I, like you, have seen it done both ways. I believe God honors the genuineness in the way we serve and our hearts dedication to HIM above all. The hats or covering are outward expressions and while I think it's fine to wear a hat, I also think it's ok if one doesn't. Thank you so much for sharing.
@davy75az Hi there and thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. Thank you also for the sincere compliments concerning my desire to simply want to know because I do, and have come full circle concerning this issue. It's been about a year now....I decided to cover for the most part, but am not condemned when I don't. Like you, I believe God honors the servant's heart, not the outer apparel.
Dear Sis. Katbalu: The covering of the head was a tradition and custom for the women in those times. I am a Preacher's wife, soon to be Pastor's wife because my husband has that Gift. I don't wear a hat and it doesn't make me any less saved. My husband is okay with me not wearing hats and his mother, who was also a Pastor's wife wore them all the time and still does today. To her the bigger the hat, the better. Some traditions are hard to break for some people. God bless you.
@chels1024 Okay...I don't feel less saved either not wearing a hat. I regret that I even mentioned that in the vid, because I definitely know that wearing one or not wearing one has no bearing on salvation. Laughing thinking about your mother in law....sounds like some of the mothers in my church. ..I appreciate your sharing chels. God bless you and your husband. Blessings.
In today's culture, we no longer view a woman's wearing of a head covering as a sign of submission. In most societies, hats are fashion accessories. A woman has the choice to wear a head covering if she views it as a sign of her submission to the authority of her husband. However, it is a personal choice and not something that should be used to judge spirituality. The real issue here is the heart attitude of obedience to God's authority and submission to His established order as to the LORD.
Concise Version: Paul is speaking about customs of a people, not that all who are saints of God (women) are to cover their head before praying or ministering the word of God.
hey, I'm not the wife of a pastor, nor am I married lol but I was reading the bible the other day and I came across this scripture. In Matthew chapter 7, Jesus talks about how some people hold their own traditions over the commandments of God (in this case the tradition was the hand washing, then eating food). It's what comes out of the persons heart that makes he or she "unclean", not the outer layer. Here's a verse in 1Samuel 16:7 that sums up the Lord looking at the heart. Many blessings!
Yes, good scripture reference and by the way, I asked all who desired to chime in to share. You need not be any of those particular's I called for. Ministers wife, pastor's wife, etc. I simply used those titles because for me and in my situation, there is so much attention given to 'the wife'; it's something else. In some circles, that's a ministry in it's own-the preacher's wives, so I referenced them because I thought they might have some things to share re: this matter. Your comment is good.
I personally believe that these are obstacles that the devil aggressively uses to knock our focus off of what really matters. Collecting souls for God
what I meant to say is that I agree with you. Satan uses so many tricks and employs so many tactics within the church and religion to deceive and blind the people of God.
Your scripture reference in I Cor 11 was written according to the culture/customs of that time. Paul also states in that scripture if head covering is going to bring division and contention then it is null and void. In other words it is not a set law. This tradition or custom is not any different from don't wear pants or makeup to church. None of that matters; what really matters is the motives of our hearts as ministers.
Yes, I commented via caption in the video that the text should be read in accordance with the timing, culture and customs of that day. I've never felt that this particular teaching was written in stone and that a woman was dishonoring if she did not adhere to it, but honestly, so many Christians hold this to be law and use it to condemn another. I just wanted to talk about it.
Covering your head when ministering the Word of God is not essential to salvation. I Peter 1:18 states that we should not get caught up with customs or traditions for they are created by man. The main focus here is that you obey God. If you have heard the voice of God instructing you to wrap your head obey Him.
You have answered well with me. In your words, if God is speaking to me concerning a thing, then I am to obey. Not because of man or tradition or any other factor, but because He is leading me to do so. Thank you sister for sharing.
Covering your head when ministering the Word of God is not essential to salvation. I Peter 1:18 states that we should not get caught up with customs or traditions for they are created by man.
I do not think that wearing or not wearing a hat has any bearing on whether we're good or bad christians. The main thing is having a relationship with Christ. Too many people are still caught up in the whole religion/tradition focus instead of on a relationship with Christ. I do not wear a hat to church and i know God knows me, and i Him. That being said, however, what does your husband/pastor of your church think about this? R u breaking any 'rules' at your church?
abbey, i've tried to reply to your comment twice and youtube is having technical difficulties because it won't post. This is a test, let's see if it works.
Neither do I. I personally don't feel that wearing or not wearing a hat means anything in terms of salvation and relationship with Christ. That principle alone isn't scriptural and I hope I haven't expressed that in this video because that wasn't my intention, nor is it what I believe. I merely wanted to hear from you all what your views were concerning this. My husband supports and encourages me in ministry and finds no fault with me re: this topic. Your comment is appreciated much:)
Hi Sis, I am not married YET;-) but I'm a woman in ministry. Can I chime in? I believe this passage in 1 Cor 11 was really relating to the culture of that time in regards to the women wearing physical head coverings. I do not believe this passage supports it being a scriptural COMMAND.
I also believe, regarding such matters as these, that it depends on the "house" (home, church, group, etc.) you are in and the point of KEEPING/BEING unified in peace.
For example, if this is the norm in the place I worship..in the spirit of keeping the peace and not brining the wrong point of focus and look of rebellion to the "rules", I submit to the "rules" of the house that I'm in. God looks at the heart but man looks on the outside...this issue is dealing with man and how things will be perceived. My concern would be what does my husband say and how will he/I be perceived among the people and will this hinder the message in anyway.
Sis, you already know hat or no hat, does not make you a good/bad Christian ;-)...I can wear a hat EVERY day and go to HELL. The bible says by our FRUIT we shall be known. In my opinion, while some traditions are not scriptural commands they are just good to follow because some keep us in good boundaries and help to protect us. Many traditions however, that have come to be have been out of a lack of understanding and manmade bondage that distracts from Christ.
Ladylovelylocs, I wish you wouldn't have removed the comment. It was fresh and honest and needed to be said. You are 100% correct in saying submission to the rules of the house keeps the peace.Nothing should be a stumbling block or cause dissension in God's House and I am certain this hasn't been the case in my assembly. I simply want to know how others who serve in this manner feel about it. Thank you for your input and for taking the time to share.
Hey Sis, That was earlier when I removed a duplicate of what I posted. I'm responding on my phone so I didn't think it posted until I saw the duplicate. Everything I said should still be in your comments. It was already long, no need for me to be repetitive...lol
With you spirit, I'm sure no dissensions or divisions have been caused by you. :-)
Thank you Lady...you weren't being repetitive at all. It just looks like your comments were spammed or removed and I didn't want that to be the case. What you've said is not just for me, but prayerfully, others may be blessed because of it.
Thank you for your chiming in Sister. I respect your views on this matter and am in agreement with you concerning the latter part re: the house and the customs of that house. I've kept this scripture in my spirit for some time now because this teaching has been ever before me. My church is somewhat traditional w/regard to women in hats for the most part and especially for minister's wives. There are many laypersons who do not adhere to this custom who also attend.
Indeed there is;one of which I discussed in the video, Is there something additional you were referring to? For the benefit of clarification with regard to the discussed passage, would you care to share your insight?
Hey Katbalu! I'm not a pastors wife or anything, but the way I was raised is that when a woman is speaking or ministering in the church she should remove her hat. I wasn't aware that there was a reasoning for pastors wives to wear hats. I know u didn't call for my help, but I just wanted to voice my opinion. Be blessed and continue to listen to what God has to say.
Hi Isici! Thank you for chiming in and being the first to do so. You need not be one of those to comment; I want to hear from all, but being a minister's wife, there are certain 'things' people and laymen label leaders and hold them to as if they're different or elevated in some form or fashion. I'm very non-traditional in that way. I'm just me and I don't dance to any one type of drum. But on the other hand, being on the row as a minister's wife, many elders expect my head to be covered.
Good for you sister it shows modesty and i wish we can all do it!

Sorry for the long comment sis...

Bless you.

Thank you for sharing...Be blessed,

Thank you for your chiming in Sister. I respect your views on this matter and am in agreement with you concerning the latter part re: the house and the customs of that house. I've kept this scripture in my spirit for some time now because this teaching has been ever before me. My church is somewhat traditional w/regard to women in hats for the most part and especially for minister's wives. There are many laypersons who do not adhere to this custom who also attend.
Thanks you for sharing.
