  • Orca369, what d'ya mean, "you can't believe NW is league w/ NS"? The two companies, Southern Railway and Norfolk & Western merged to BECOME Norfolk Southern way back in '82. Both were fine companies in their own right, and one of the last ones to remain standing without being gobbled up by mega-corporations and raiders! They were cash-rich, shrewd railroads who saw the merger as a block to such take-over! As NS it is still to be envied by its peers!

  • Wait a minute... Norfolk And Western isn't running anymore?! Her last run was on December 7th, 1994?! THAT'S BULLSHIT!!! I want her running again! I love that train! SO UNFAIR!!!

  • Hmmm. I've never seen a Norfolk Southern RS-11 before. And I still can't believe that Norfolk Sotuhern is in league with Norfolk And Western.

  • @Orca369 Norfolk Southern Railway has been around for quite some time. It was a regional carrier started in 1942. In 1982 Norfolk Southern Corp. used the Railway to buy out Southern and Norfolk & Western. Also those aren't RS-11 they are High Hood GP-38-2.

  • I saw 611 back in the mid 80s i think, in Fort Wayne IN. She was an awsom engin.

  • @willibill1 she still is

  • Not very often did #611 run without an auxillary tender.

  • Very nice video . im from germany and i like the j so much and the Y6 is a great machine. I have a 1/10 Scale model of this engine in 5"Gauge. I send you a video answer from the Y6. The N&W is the best RR. Best wishes from Germany...

  • @The3751FAN Her last run was almost exactly one day less than a month before I was born.

  • @SantaFe158 Wow thats cool!

  • @The3751FAN Well, I'd prefer she was still running, the Detroit Michigan Central depot closed on my birthday (a few years before I was born though)

  • Could somebody explain to me how far a steam locomotive can go on a tank of water. Let's say 500 gallons. Could never figure this out

  • @HaloCE14, the UP is running mainline steam. But the east, well, maybe a while. I guess, again, we'll just have to wait and see.

  • @HaloCE14, I really don't know. I think it is completely possible. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • @HaloCE14, I know the feeling. I never got to see her in operation either.

  • Awesome wheel slipage!!! And video too.

  • where is the extra water tender that company 611 on long runs?
