When I want to start Task Scheduler comes a message that says Task Scheduler is not available. Verify that the service runs. when I press OK opens the Task Scheduler but I can not use it, it just writes data retrieval failed ...
d00d it works the first time i try it i delete the task the .dll the .set i reb00t and it works the first time then when i run gta sa again i get the same trouble again
oh.. never mind.. i see it now... one qeustion though... at the end of the process.. when i finally disable the thingy... it says running... it never sayas disabled... why?
that's intresting.. i have this problem too.. but when i click on "TextServices..." folder.. nothing comes up.. no MSCTFMonitor file... and i STILL have the black screen & mouse freeze.. any ideas?
Ok cool. What is that file actually used for? I am going to apply SP1 first and see if that fixes it..I don't want to touch any files unless I know what uses it lol.
SP1 ain't gonna fix it. I have it as well. You don't have to delete the file, just disable it from startup as shown in the video. The file won't even harm your computer and can be restored via Recycle Bin. There's even System Restore if anything "bad" should happen.
Tried. That isn't the actual fault at all lol. I sent an email to the support people for the game and they said that none of the default tasks in Vista are the reason as to why it has errors :|
If you don't, try multiple times (quit and relanch a server to get back to the main menu). Your mouse should eventually freeze and this means you didn't delete [.set] file, delete MSCTFMONITOR.DLL in C:\Windows\System 32, and then restarted your computer.
If it doesn't happen to you, then your San Andreas should be working fine now.
Hmm. Vice City had the same problems. And this was even after the restart. I think I will just run them on my crappy desktop machine (has XP so it will run them all good, but its got less ram than my laptop, so I will have to run GTA-SA on low/medium graphics).
An easier way is to just delete MsCtfMonitor.dll in "C:\Windows\System32" Don't delete it from recycle bin though. You can move the file to another location and that works as well. The only effect it has is that the language bar for your specific keyboard layout, won't show up in the taskbar no more.

You should just disable the task if you think it is causing issues, you should never delete a default windows task.

Ah, come on, that's a different problem.
TI2ophy 3 years ago
Is this 100% tested and confirmed to work? Also, these things that are being disabled, what do they do in Vista?
ZeF2007inc 3 years ago
What problem you have in Vice City and San Andreas? If you have random mouse freezes and main menu problems then this vidoe fixes it.

I tried this, and it only allowed for me to save and load. I still get random freezes and problems with it not detecting the mouse :(
I am going to wait for VMware to emulate DirectX 9.c 3D under Windows and then play it on that :)
ZeF2007inc 3 years ago
Did you even delete the MSCTFMONITOR.DLL file and store it in your Recycle Bin?
After doing that, delete [.set] file and restart your computer.

Try installing Vice City, and launch a Multi Theft Auto server. Do you get a mouse freeze at the main menu?

@ZeF2007inc I know you said that 2 years ago, but ram doesn't affect graphics performance.
vram would.
imalwayswatchingu00 1 year ago
@imalwayswatchingu00 That is correct.
I wrote ram instead of vram by mistake. I had a tiny 64MB vram at the time with only an on-board gpu that barely handled DirectX 9.
That's no longer the case now though :)
I always forget to write vram as my normal ram is always suffice, so its always my graphics card I am thinking of lol.
ZeF2007inc 1 year ago
@ZeF2007inc What graphics card do you have now?
Since you brought the subject up :)
I wasn't expecting you to reply, ever.
strange, haha.
imalwayswatchingu00 1 year ago
@imalwayswatchingu00 GTX 460 1GB vram :)
I get bored while working on things so I decided to reply haha.
