Guitarist Ronnie Montrose is claiming that he’s found his beloved 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard that was stolen from a concert stage over 35 years ago, and he’s now suing the guitarist he claims has it – none other than legendary blues guitarist Gary Moore.Montrose, best remembered as a member of the Edgar Winter Group and writer of the songs “Free Ride” and “Frankenstein,” has long held that someone swiped his prized Gibson Les Paul in 1972
i bet gary moore and rory gallagher are jammin up in heaven right now... RIP to amazing musicans!! i hope my generation will eventually recononize these legends... until then ill try to do that
also what set rory apart from others was his manner.he had huge amounts of class, never a rude or unkind word, unpretentious and unassuming.the people will always warm to a person as down to earth as rory.i salute him
Rory, was the first irish Rock Star, U2 and others following the Gallagher example, unfortunately, Rory, never, the recognition, appreciation and respect, in his live, he played the blues, from emotion, not for the money, Rory, on stage, was more than 1000% pure blues and rock energy, in the all time guitars hero list, the top 100, you do not find him, it is really to be ashamed, that Rory lost the, attention and respect, Rory is my all time favorit guitars hero, Ralph, from germany,
Rory, was the real rock guitar player, the best white blues player, simply the best, his the guitar bending, the finger vibrato, the sound full of flageolett tone, the feedback between the Vox AC 30 and the 61 Stratocaster, Rory never need big Plexi Marchall stags, and 100 of effects, anyway, the Taste was the best Band, John Wilson, defently the best drummer, from Rory Gallagher,
Rory, was the real god, for blues and rock guitar, but even, Rory was the ultimate stage performer, Eric Clapton, forget it, he had the slow hand,
Stevie Ray Vaughan, you hear one song, it was allways the same,
Johnny Winter, and others of that time, did not have that power performence,
even, the new generation, of guitars players, like, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, did not have, that feeling and that power for the blues,
I meet him first, in 1969, the Star Club in Hamburg, later 1970, in the music hall in Hamburg, the impression, a mighty, earthquake, I never saw a guitars player, like him, again, Rory, was the reason, for my first electric guitar experiment,
I bought 1970, a fender stratmodell, a rangemaster booster, a vox ac 30 top boost amplifier, but, I did not had the guitar player talent, from Rory,
by the way, the Taste was the best Band, from Rory Gallagher,
I was lucky enough to see Rory Gallagher live in Melbourne in the mid seventies, and will never forget the energy and enthusiasm he had on stage along with the band behind him. Truly an incredible performer and innovative bluesman. Still listening to his music today, God bless you Rory.. you're a legend
ARRGGHH. I hate the way English people pronounce Gallagher - they say Gal-a-gur. It is an Irish name and should be pronounced Gal-ah-her. The secong "G" is silent. Listen to Gary Moore he prononunces it correctly (most of the time).
RORY 4ever ....... It's is enough for this legend when a reporter asked Hendrix : "How does it feel to be the greatest guitarist ?" and the Voodoo Child response was : "Ask Rory Gallagher" .
that didnt happen (unfortunately) its a rumor where hendrix replies i dont know ask (insert guitarist name).
there isnt much proof of hendrix or Rory ever chatting, but they were at live festivals where artists would jam onstage in big groups, there is a VERY high chance that hendrix and rory jammed together (awesome as taht is)
but as for that quote, its pretty much false.
although i wouldnt put it past hendrix saying something like that.
Whats up with garys accent I thought he was from Belfast there isnt a hint of it in there Emerald Isle my ballocks remember were your from Gary .Rory never lost his accent . Still your the man but Rory was and is the king.
not sure if understand all the technical on rorys amp and treble booster but thanks for sharing just a few great musicans talk about rory. One day at that great dining table, around will be others who shared these musicians love for Rory, and all his fans....you and me too.
what can i say but the journey here is just in the beginning when you have been so graced to have met him for only some short moments but forever imprinted on our minds.
Man, I`m glad I viewed this! It made me remember that I have a trebble booster, but I couldn`t remember where I`d put it. I just got off of the phone with my son, and he said he had it their with him, so I asked him to bring it over with him when he comes by next time, or else he`ll NEVER get to enjoy his old man playing just like Rory! lol
Yep, just about everybody who knew him says something like that. And as Jack Bruce said "He embodied honesty, in his playing, and in his life"! Have you ever noticed how people's voices change when they describe Rory? You can really hear the respect and admiration they had for him.
I think when rory was alive, he hasn't received all the recognition he deserved! He's on the top, together with the greatest rock/blues players of all time!
Hi Laffeylad, it was listening to your interview clips that reminded me about it. I should have the whole show somewhere, but it was a one hour show recorded for Rory's 10th anniversary, a mixture of music fading to little bits of conversation which might be difficult to edit into usable chunks. This part is a fair summary of the contributors and their feelings abvout Rory, but I'll go through it again when I get time and see what else I can come up with.
Did he ever play with Moore?
