While a lot of us have a soft spot for it as our first series, in retrospect it wasn't revolutionary in any way. At it's core it was a retelling of 0079 with a cast 5 teenage Gundam pilots (four of whom became irrelevant at the end)

It was more of a retelling of 0079 and Char's Counterattack put together than just 0079.

But why the hell was SEED in there, if it too was a simple, yet terrible retelling of 0079? Seriously, Wing was executed so much better.

I mean sure, SEED was revolutionary in Japan, but when you think about it, anything Gundam for them is revolutionary.

Then there's the fact that the Gundam Wing Model Kit line rather restored the Gundam line as a profitable franchise after G Gundam's Model Kits bored everyone in Japan to death. Seriously, the Japanese didn't like G Gundam's Model Kits at all.
