  • now.......im....pissed....YOU FUCKING SCIENTIST IM GOING TO RIP YOU TO SHREDS!!!!

  • Why don't atheists get possessed?

  • @TheMrGruff Demons don't care for people who are already on his side. Especially those who don't really seek God: the devil has already prepared a place for atheist.

  • If you have some evidence, I'm willing to listen. Otherwise, I must consider all gods an illusion.

  • @TheMrGruff Are morals an illusion?

  • @Creationcreed how do you know this? seriously, where do you get this kind of evidence?

  • @TheMrGruff

Demons, already have those souls in their pockets.. Why would they waste valuable resources... Atheists, are on their way to hell all on their lonesome.

  • I have experienced spirit possession and it is real. In fact much of what moves through the mind is not ours at all. The random nature of contact is what makes an act of scientific inquiry unapproachable. No two events are ever the same.

  • the white haired pastor in his end speech sounds exactly EXACTLY like the baptist pastor at the church i used to go to

    its insane

  • lol @6:35.... check the facials

  • I find it quite apropos that the show is on a science fiction channel key word here is FICTION.

  • All faith healers and exorcist use advanced psychological techniques to simulate miracles and divine healing. Since god doesn't exist (all of the gods in recorded history are myths nothing more ) it is obvious that demons don't therefore exorcists like preachers are scam artist and con men.

  • Joe needs delivered. CS Lewis? A catholic wizard

  • i would want joe to go with the reverend and witness a true exorcist

  • Thank God for people like Joe Nickell.

  • Oh science help me with my problems!!! Wow!!! Yep I see a rock but that rock ain't gonna help me!!! I think a living God would do better duh!!!

  • @suave1871 I don't know. I can do a lot more with a rock than I can do with some imaginary deity.

  • @CMRDIvan Yeah, like tying it to your leg, jumping off a peer, and ridding us of your lousy existence. Maybe, if you're lucky, your savior Joe Nickell will preach to you about how your meager existence was the product of 'mass hysteria'.

  • @TheRudeAmerican Hmm. I don't think a rock will be able to do much in that regard. But since your so into imaginary friends, you can have it as a pet. At least this way you can talk to something that actually exists.

  • @CMRDIvan Your response is not even relevant to my comment. I told you to take your tangible object (i.e. the rock from your analogy), tie it to your leg, and jump into a river so there would be no possible way for you to swim to the surface. Joe Nickell's method of debunking is laughable at best. Anyone with enough reasoning can see that Nickell uses flimsy tactics to debunk scenarios. (More)

  • @TheRudeAmerican I think our definitions of the term "rock" differ. See when I say "rock", I'm talking about something not much bigger than the size of ones hand. What you are talking about I define as a "stone". So like I said, a rock will do very little in terms of sinking me.

  • @CMRDIvan (Continued) For example: There's no way the Government could mistaken its own Project Mogul project as a flying Saucer and then recant it later as a 'mistake'. Anyone with 'reason' - as Joe Nickell would so brashly put it - can see that something else happened.

  • @TheRudeAmerican Because the US military is suddenly an ultra efficient entity and news sources don't fudge the truth for the sake of ratings. Last I checked the military defined Mogul as an Unidentified Flying Object initially, which the media then turned into "flying saucer alien invasion panic now!" Personally I'll stick with the idea that the military tends to lose track of expensive things and that the news tends to be hyped.

  • @CMRDIvan I want to be the fly on the wall when you eat these words and you will. I did.

  • @photopicker Unlikely, for the sole reason that my standard for what I consider evidence seems to be far higher than yours.

  • @CMRDIvan When the evidence unfolds in the middle of your head you will understand what I am talking about. Until then I completely agree with your statement.

  • Joe Nickell is an embarrassment.

  • LARSON WILL DELIVER ANYONE WHO THINKS THEY ARE POSESSED IF THEY HAVE A CREDIT CARD HANDY LARSON IS AN ASS THERE HAVE BEEN TRUE EXORCISMS AND THEY ARE VERY RARE MAYBE YOU DISAGREE WITH ME ON THAT, BUT WE CAN AT LEAST ADMIT THAT LARSON IS A BULLSHIT CHARLATAN jOE ADMITS HE'S SEEN POSESSED PEOPLE HE SORTS OUT THE BULL FROM THE REAL THING...HE'S RIGHT LARSONS EXORCISMS ARE A FRAUD !

  • Also the real ghost hunters called The Rocky Mountain Paranormal Investigation found in the Brook Inn found a chair moved by itself and unexplained noises and sounds that he can not explain and these hunters are the skeptic ghost hunters the real deal. So how do you explain that? Do exorcisms work on all religions? Good debate lets do a debate Rednecks versus normal people and fake yawns versus regular yawns. Exactly Joe we have to focus on aliens and UFOS. The problem Bob is exorcisim is fake

  • The singer from the band Possessed said he was possessed and starting talking like a demon while Bob Larson tried to do an exorcism. Glen Benton on the other hand I wasnt convinced he was possessed by the way he talked.

  • The singer from the band Possessed said he was possessed and starting talking like a demon while Bob Larson tried to do an exorcism.

  • Quit the drugs and alchohol to get rid of the demons!

  • Alright to solve this debate spend a week at Bobby Mackeys Music world the most haunted place in USA which there are said to be ghosts, possessions, and demons.

  • I didn't think I could lose MORE respect for The Sci-Fi Channel/Sci-Fi/Sy-Fy/pick a fucking name, would ya!!??

  • It's funny how you don't actually *see* the demons, rather, you see people who are "speaking" for the demons.

  • I remember watching this on CNN. and LMAO @ Joe- you white people are some funny muthafuckas

  • it's sad that this passes for journalism these days. talk about real issues, not false exorcists and hoax demon possessions.

  • It's amazing that this kind of superstition still exists. Bible-believing Christards are so feeble.

  • Poorly disguised advertising. Not much more.

  • "If we would start burning witches again, things would get better." A bad idea of course but that is how some of these people think. Joe Nickell provides the truth concerning this charlatan.

  • emotionaly confused ppl taken advantage of by a guy makin lotsa money who shouldnt be given the time of day.

  • Joe is the Man. This carnival on TV should be exposed.

  • @nergvol Joe Nickell is an asshole. He answers everything with 'mass hysteria' or 'uneducated'. In one case, thousands of people (who were miles apart) witnessed a large, cylinder object flying in the sky. Joe's analysis? Mass hysteria. Sorry, Joe -- this isn't the 1950's anymore. As for the video here, who cares. It doesn't change who Joe is... and that's a major asshole with a pinhole perspective on reality.

  • @nergvol If I lived on Tuvalu and not Port Townsend, I would get involved. Ahhh hahahaha. I mean, lol:)

  • @SKORDY52 Need to move..boat is leaky though. Pooka Head

  • Possession=psychological hysteria, in every case.

  • Joe Nickell seems so smart, but in reality it's not hard to look like a badass when your arguing with a retard ...

  • I love the good old 'Well you've never come to MY,such and such. I invite you to come see". I get that all the time. I had a ghost hunter do that too me once and told me to come take his ghost hunting class,so i did and it was even worse and more lame than I imaginged it would be.

  • Crackpot faith-heads!

  • this is bull

seriously, I mean people have died and among other things these people ar emost likely just doing it fo rattention or have serious health problems

I also get scared about forced exorcisms which seem to be pretty dangerous

  • This aired the end of October 2008. I doubt it was a coincidence that this aired around Halloween.

  • When was this aired?

  • What a load of bullshit.

  • Joe, like any good skeptic asked intelligent questions and got nothing but psycho-babble from Larson.

Which is par for the course with him, he's nothing but a con man. His books have all been written for him (look up Bonnie Bell to find out) and he bilks his victims out of millions every year.

If there were any justice in the world, he'd be in jail next to Kent Hovind. Another fraud and con-man.

  • @Blacksmith1964 Clearly you are not well informed. If you were you wouldn't buy Joe's speech hook, line, and sinker but like most people you prefer to have a self made authority do the thinking for you. Beats having to put in the time to research it for yourself.

  • @Blacksmith1964 If there's ANY BABBLE at all, it's from the pseudo-scientific psychologist... Psychology CURES NOTHING, I dare ANYONE to prove me wrong on this.

  • the skeptic made weak arguments. for example: How can you have scientific evidence for it? If it were true, there would be no evidence.

  • The *skeptic* made weak arguments? All Bob Larson said over and over again is that he wasn't in personal attendance. Now, if personal attendance is what it takes to justify your belief in exorcism, first of all, why is this televised? He should invite every Christian who watches it to personally attend, so they can "see for themselves." And then the other pastor... "I've had a series of events where I just KNOW..." Unscientific, unreasonable, fallacious.

  • Furthermore, anyone who knows anything about the CFI knows that they, in combination and cooperation with the more prominent (in this realm) CSICOP, investigate claims *VERY* similar to this and debunk them *CONSTANTLY*. Carefully diagnosing all psychological problems would mean diagnosing ALL his 'clients' as probably schizophrenic, since the DSM recognizes that as a severe disconnection with reality. Let's face it, folks, in reality, there are better explanations.

  • The principle of Falsifiability - look it up.

  • This was just too great!

  • It's too bad that this segment only "skimmed the surface" of the topic. Another half hour of debate/analysis would have been very interesting.

  • I wonder what the Rev has to say about the fact that the demonic possessions (claims) have the same symptoms as many psychiatric illnesses.

And that many of the symptoms can be replicated by changing the brain chemistry of a healthy individual.

  • Joe Nickell just did a talk about the paranormal here at the Putnam Museum in Davenport, IA. It was really informative and entertaining. Awesome guy.

  • WOW did not think it was possible for people of faith to get any higher on the retard scale and then this dumb shit larsen rears his ugly head. Grow the fuck up and why are these idiots not taxed.

  • I think atheist should meet every sunday in a taxesless building and they can argue with each other about which of them are the most awesome.

  • We do that here in memphis in the public library.

  • Check out the convo with Bob Larson and Glen Benton!

  • Way to go Joe! He got the last word in. I found it amusing that the best "evidence" he had was that he has been doing this for 30+ years and Joe wasn't at the exorcism. Wow! That's it?

Joe was correct, these people are play acting, maybe for attention, maybe for gain, or hoping to arise an interest in God, or mental illness.

Joe said that he was embarrassed that in '08 we are still talking about this. I agree, this is something for historians to talk about not for current issues on CNN.

  • I am so glad that Dr. Nickell got in the point about evidence, because that's how we all should be thinking. Allow the evidence to get you closer to the truth. I am a big proponent of logice, evidence, and reason. Apparently this reverend asshole doesn't see things that way. He never really answered the woman's first question which was what was he best evidence.

  • Joe did a very good job, and got to make his points which I was frankly amazed by him getting to do so. Was it just me or did he talk almost as much as the other two? The liberal (?) christian in the middle didn't say much...
