The actor who plays Jojo is called Martin Luther McCoy. The reason I enjoy listening to this song more than the original is because this tribute to Dr. King clearly transcends the script, it's something he's probably dreamed of doing his whole life and the passion with which he sings shows that.
What's the point of comparing the versions? This movie is great and is a good way for people who may be put off by the 'sound' of the Beatles to get into these amazing songs. Elliot Goldenthal's arrangements throughout are pure class...
Jesus how dear to compare the original with this?? you know is not bad, but come on!! the mellow and the melancholy besides the awesome guitar is thousands of times better :/
The Beattles are legends and without them we wouldnt have these musical works of art. But sometimes there are those who take what we have done a step further and turns them into masterpieces. this is a great rendition!
@Alleycat806 Good comment Alleycat. I'm a Beatles nut but agree their songs are still open to better versions (as is all music) and this is a bloody good one. Much of the very early Blues has been adapted, changed a little and arguably improved but it doesn't for a second take away from the genius originals.
love the song but seeing how many people dont know shit about the movie makes me laugh. and for everyone that keeps saying Max represents Kurt Cobain, google when he was born. fucking stupid.
Max represents Brian Epstein's son, & for those of you who don't even know who Epstein is, he was The Beatles' manager until he died in '67.
I felt.. woah!! when I justo saw the paintings all over the floor and through the apartment.. the tears stream down in her face made me feel the romanticism
When Martin Luther McCoy starts singing, and Martin Luther King is giving his speech in the background ("I'm tired...!!!") it just makes this song more moving, inspiring, everything :)
theres nothing i can say except...long live the beattles, long live the beauty of this world and long live those few people who still see its beauty everyday.
I wish the Beatles and Clapton were able to see this (And I mean all of them, even George and John) I Miss John and George so much, and this song reminds me that they are in a better place now
Of course this version isn't as good as the original because it isn't the original. But for what it is, and how they turned this masterpiece into a stripped-bare blues tune while maintaining the beauty, while still displaying the power and emotion the original carried shows that this version is a masterpiece in itself.
It took out the idea of separation, with the idea of God out because of separation through religion. Hell, if we all prayed to one God, that would be one thing, but people have started wars against that idea alone.
Wow Profound statement... beautiful. I agree with the old man with obvious great insight.. brava.. This is one of the sadest songs ever written and it a dark and beautiful masterpiece. thanks george for sharing your beauty and pain with us all. John thank you for your beautiful soul which wrote the words to one of the most beautiful ethereal songs ever written and for your vision that you shared with the world that was your Dream John and through you love and passion it became our dream . Love
@Ritchina40 yeah, his voice was made for this song, nothing to feel guilty about...thier are songwriters and then there are song singers....I love the harmonizing ending...
I don't know why there's no reason to listen to this [..] if we can listen orginal version. This song can't be without Eric's guitar solo and Georges voice. By the way, one of the best versions is Clapton's version of Concert for George.

if Jude would've left the bar earlier he would have stopped Lucy from leaving!! but thats no fun, im sure i would have preferred singing this i guess!
if all the beatles could see this movie, and this scene in particular, they would be so goddamn proud. if only they couldve all been alive to truly see the impact they made on the world.
I'm sorry to everyone. I love this version the most, George Harrison is probably the best Beatle, if not Lennon, but I love Jimi Hendrix more and this version fuses them together into one beautiful composition, So much soul and all the good stuff. Just my opinion, sorry if i offended
@gibsonsgrich This is actually my favorite version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It's strikes me so much more than the original (which I love to begin with).
if ever one ever says that there is no story behind this movie it's because they aren't really looking at the movie at all... There is a story one must look at how each song affects the each individual scene because each scene focuses on each major aspect of the 60s and what happened during the time period. once one looks at each song, it is then that they can look at the movie as a whole and see that it does have a story(line) too it...
@caramon770 thats the point. jude is supposed 2 b paul, the black guy is hendrix, the blonde guy i think is supposed 2 b cobain every1 represents some1

@thegunslinger3k What an insult. Lennon did not believe in God and it went against his ideal of a perfect world as he imagined it. Replace God with love and there is a profound statement.
