Huxley was a Fabian, he knew what the agenda was. That agenda has quietly been unfolding, and now so close to full fruition that people can't help but see it. George Orwell was also a Fabian.
What a fantastic interview. This type of journalism no longer exists in America. Huxley's 1958 views on how politics are being influenced by large corporations and governments is spot on in the current political scene of 2012. This fascinating interview is a must see and take note on the measure of journalistic freedom demonstrated by Mike Wallace's interview style. 1958 was a better day in freedom for America.
Every week I see people work hard in there various fields, every weekend I see the drunken drugged up masses explode onto the streets. Politics Art Health are unconversations plus 2 bad, this depression we've just entered in 08 is already drawing out our petty predjudices, Blame the rich, the muslims, the chineese, but never blame the man in the mirror.
Huxley understood the road ahead, what an intellect. Great post

@nolbie Because we no longer read and write on a regular basis. And even if the spread of online reading and writing were to show otherwise, it cannot lead to anything other than a passing familiarity with words, because a majority of the reading is of 2-3 page articles--which are skimmed--at an 8th grade reading level. @murkmilk35 Wake up Murkmilk! It is not Obama, or Bush, or Clinton, or even the alternative hopeful Ron Paul. None of these individuals offer hope or oppression. If people choose to allow leaders to lead them blind rather than make them accountable by being informed and involved then the end result will always be where we are now. It is the message our forefathers warned us of. The problem is . . . US!
Huxley to Orwell: "Within the next generation I believe that the world's leaders will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience."

I don't knw why ANY1 wld blv that overpopulation is gng to do away w/us or the earth! Hello...doesn't anyone realize that many thousands, millions, maybe even billions die EVERY SINGLE DAY! The problem with the overpopulation myth is that it didn't take into account that people create opportunities/technology advances. The correlation of population growth with availability of resources contradicts overpopulation ideas. A smaller percentage of people in a world of 7 billion are starving than the world hundreds of years ago with 500 million. Also, the Catholic policy of "no birth control" is conditional. Also, populations are apparently self regulating.
@rochelle1088 , The world is currently increasing at a rate of 7%. That doesn't seem like much but that means the population will double in 14 years. That's a problem. I agree about the fact that people are resources; but if half the world is controlling the resources then the other half are slaves. Theirs more than enough for everyone, the problem is fear. People are afraid to do without so they hoard resources to survive. What saved us yesterday will destroy us tomorrow.

Aldous Huxley's words echo with a haunting resonance in the world of today. I think he underestimated the power of TV in the US. Fantastic interview showing how far our freedoms have been eroded, and the population dumbed down. No TV station would have ever shown this in today's dialtone world.
Huxley's 1961 book of essays, Brave New World Revisited is more important than the 30's novel Brave New World, IMO, though of course both belong together. But the latter he called a fantasy, the former he said was as serious as life and death.
over-organization is the name of our government nowadays. And fuck if there isn't a shit load of propaganda all day every day on every american "news" network. All a bunch of bullshit. Take some lsd/mescalin and expand your consciousness, see through the bullshit, and make huxley proud.
Very deep interview. I watch this every few months and hear something new every time. He was a genius, and a visionary, and as much as some people want to vilify his message, it's undeniably, and eerily, pertinent.
Both novels: '1984' and 'Brave New World' presents to us the two extremes: scientific socialism and scientific ___! Through his novel he presented a new Political Economic system not yet enacted. These systems, the two extremes, are the return to pure materialistic ___. They both would eliminate ___ in practice(not in theory). Within Liberal Democracy there is Constitutional Socialism (with Market Foundationalism). Both of these systems deal with overpopulation. The solution is ___.
In every interview I've ever seen Mike Wallace give, it seems he has already made up his mind on an answer before asking any question. His cynical nature speaks to his concented ignorance.
@freecannabisplease well said, i believe its old school C.I.A yellow journalism training. Its a very obvious pattern in propaganda of this time period.
If Huxley was a Jew, you know they would of had it deleted long ago. Overtime, you would see copied versions of it appear from time to time with a message "this will be taken down soon!" And that's fact!
@nickgonewalkabout Huxley was all about freedom not domination, im sorry you can't understand his "ghastly intellect" go back to living your shallow and naive life. It's sad that one of your major reasons for hating him is him being "God-less" you definitely want a compassionate society.... oh wait your a hypocrite!
More or less tainted with the spirit of Rockefeller. Dispiriting, uninspiring, God-less and cynical. Huxley makes me want to chuck-my lunch. Few can deny however, the serpent-like, hypnotic quality of his ghastly intellect. Under Huxley though, we're ruled by pessimism. Glad real human-beings replaced this particularly nasty text-book for domination with something more beneficial to mankind, positive, healing, compassionate and harmonic with God's law.
@judgenutmeg1977 the most disturbing part of the interview is mike wallace who conducted himself as a interigator rather then having a conversation with someones whose perspective was very confrontational and educational and thought provoking
....U.S. citizens with the imaginary "war on terror". Here in Europe, especially in my own homeland, we now know beyond any doubt, that the interests of the major banks come before the interests of the nations peoples and govts are imposing draconian austerity measures on their people's in order to reach that end. In U.S., Bush the "born again Christian" with his "pre-emptive strikes" on innocent nations was a wolf in sheeps clothing. Infact, he may even be Alestair Crowley's grandson.
there were many clues along the way that U.S. admin were for the most part greedy and corrupt, ie JFK's fathers influence in politics and mob connections, Watergate, false-flag Gulf of Tonkin, supporting the Contras in Nicaragua, etc etc but then came the ultimate proof, 9-11. Clearly demonstrating that the U.S. admin are puppets on a string dancing to multi-national corps tune and awarding lucrative contracts at the expense of foreign people's lives and eroding the civil liberties of.....
is freedom necessary?? wtf type of question is that? dick head.. huxleys the man not involved with eugenics (thats the propaganda ) hallucinogens rule.. everything he said has come true.. nuff said
He was an insider. Communism/Socialism is Satanism at its core. Catholic church was compromised LONG ago. Zionist have the reigns of this country now. They take orders from Jesuit's. Rothschild are pick pockets compared to the real power that is behind NWO. Hitler was a puppet of Jesuit control. Britain is the money. USA the muscle. Rome the church. Unholy trinity. Wake up.
The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Brilliant. The solution is spiritual, a spiritual vigilance is needed also. Read the Vedic literatures and see...

Everything has a camera, a microphone and is able to be accessed via the internet and we freely use these devices to share personal information knowing that if someone wanted to they can trace your every movement in a vast array of ways.
The unfortunate truth of the debate over who will come up on top in the Orwell/Huxley debate is that there seems to be a tie.
Everything that we make now is convenience and the combination of these things enslaves us in a web of devices and media (propaganda) seeing the natural world as something nearly alien.
Unfortunately, I think we are living in the reality of a his book ``Brave New World`` to an extent. We are pacified and seduced by the media/entertainment industry.
Hmmmm in the future, perhaps 25 years, the candidates could be packaged and coached; not necessarily versed on issues.1958 + 22 =1980 just in time for Ronnie Reagan! "Ahead of his time". :)
@3kencloud you know i was watching ron paul videos....than got into aleister crowley videos.....than some black sabbath videos.....and now im at aldous huxley videos.....i feel as though im going on a strange cosmic journey....yah
to hfc619 it was absolutely his links to the eugenics movement which allowed him to prophetize personally I would like to think he saw what his brother specifically was doing and was trying to stop it, I dont know. But, the only place he was wrong in this video was where he says Soma will probably never exist.
@impala1977 nah man., i guess u think thats how he scratches his nose ehhh., wow., pull your head outta the sand., man, this fucker is a top tier eugenics supporter/ occult devil worshipper., i guess u like him ehh., well since he calls for over half of the population to be wiped out, lets start with you...
@MultiSr16 Sorry about that. I get irritated when people comment on issues maybe they themselves didnt research and regurgitate from some other source. The man had eyesight issues ,was held back in school, worked as a laborer for sometime, wrote about the benefits of psychedelic drugs. Wrote the DOORS OF PERCEPTION!
@MultiSr16 He also wrote new world order revisited which everyone should read. Just because he's objective about rampant population doesnt make him a eugenist. If people around the world were educated and not manipulated or distracted he wouldnt be having this conversation. If youre against control of population you better be a doctor and be on your way to haiti or calcutta to heal people or be an engineer with plans to clean water for those folks and fix their resource problems.
@MrSalimMilas You've got a lot of reading to do, although given your response I don't imagine that's much interest to you to begin with. Enjoy your freedom when oil hits $200 a barrel.
Huxley sounds kind of muddled here. Maybe he'd been taking to many mushrooms, but overpopulation is hardly a problem, and the communists failed spectacularly 30 years after this broadcast. - he underestimates the effect of propaganda, which we're suffused with right now. Nearly every statement from television is a total lie, especially from government. The French at this very year, had a philosophy, (situationism), that fully explains our current condition in work and media. Huxley= genius tho
@Firstclass...that "reporter" is the very, very famous Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes fame. It cracks me up seeing him lighting up one cigarette after another. Wallace is a major lib. How 'bout when he suggested to the amazingly brilliant Aldous Huxley ( who's quite hoy, IMHO) that maybe the US should have their worker drones, etc.? Sheeesh!
Huxley was a prophet in the truest sense of the word. A bit of a dodgy guy with too many links to the eugenics movement - granted - but still an insightful son of a bitch.
@TruthTube1111 He was a very dodgy guy in the eugenics movement. His brother Julian was even leading member and president of the Britisch Eugenics Society in the 50's (yes.... they still exist after WWII). In '89 they changed their name to the Galton Institute (after Charles Galton Darwin, leading Eugenics scientist and writher of The Next Million Years in which he favours abortion, eugenics, forcing infertility,... He even was a major force in Manhattan Project.... nice people
@bart252 Julian Huxley was also a major role player in the formation of UNESCO (UN) which, from what I've heard, has eugenics in their foundational values.
@hfc619 The reason what he says comes true is because he is part of the people trying to rule the world. The people he worked with are at least 50 years more advanced than the normal people, hello. In his first statement he says he doesn't think there are people trying to control the world, trying to deny the truth right off the bat, wake up and smell the roses.
@LGZEE Listen my friend. I'm sure your intentions are pure, but don't talk to me like I've just arrived on this planet. There is no hidden agenda behind the actions of the world's elite (who, by the way, aren't hidden themselves). The direction of history is driven by the powerful. Obviously. At the moment, the powerful are the mega-rich. Not the authors or politicians, newsreaders or athletes. The bankers and the corporations. None of this is secret. Governments follow them money, they have to.
@hfc619 Wow, you are more delusional than I thought. It is obvious that the elite of this planet have an agenda and use writers, politicians and any one else they can to get their agenda moving forward. I wasn't talking to you like you just arrived on the planet, I was simply pointing out your flawed idea of who someone is or was. You seem to have faith in the fact he was a prophet. This is nonsense. If I know the weather for the next day from maps and tell you, does that make me a prophet?
@LGZEE Take off the tinfoil hat for a second. Do you personally know any writers, politicians "and any one else" who is used by the "elite of this planet"? This isn't a pissing contest but I've been closely involved with a number of politicians, high-ranking academics and many journalists. I've seen the recruitment/selection process for these people (and other, more covert government agencies) firsthand and I know how it works. Good people go into these jobs and are corrupted along the way - ...
@LGZEE ... not by any mystical elite, no esoteric rewards. By money and the fact that they are kept in office (politicians), their research is funded (academics), and they are employed (journalists) only if they do what's in the monetary interests of the rich.
Listen - you call these people the 'elite' - I just see them as the rich. You and I are a lot alike, in the 0.1% of people who know the system sucks. I respect you for that. There's no1 behind the curtain, everyone is chasing the dollar.
We gobble anti depressants so we can keep slaving away at our jobs which our paycheck buys less and less each day, so we can come home and watch sports or dancing with stars....too exhausted to notice the elites have much more money and freedom than we could imagine.
@alycephoto...How true. One of the best things an individual can do is turn off the tv & read a good book. 7 companies own 'ALL' the so called news/news networks so going there for truth is like going to a bar to remain sober.
Huxley was a Fabian, he knew what the agenda was. That agenda has quietly been unfolding, and now so close to full fruition that people can't help but see it. George Orwell was also a Fabian.

FlappyMcNips 3 months ago
More or less tainted with the spirit of Rockefeller. Dispiriting, uninspiring, God-less and cynical. Huxley makes me want to chuck-my lunch. Few can deny however, the serpent-like, hypnotic quality of his ghastly intellect. Under Huxley though, we're ruled by pessimism. Glad real human-beings replaced this particularly nasty text-book for domination with something more beneficial to mankind, positive, healing, compassionate and harmonic with God's law.

The unfortunate truth of the debate over who will come up on top in the Orwell/Huxley debate is that there seems to be a tie.
Everything that we make now is convenience and the combination of these things enslaves us in a web of devices and media (propaganda) seeing the natural world as something nearly alien.

@MultiSr16 Sorry about that. I get irritated when people comment on issues maybe they themselves didnt research and regurgitate from some other source. The man had eyesight issues ,was held back in school, worked as a laborer for sometime, wrote about the benefits of psychedelic drugs. Wrote the DOORS OF PERCEPTION!
impala1977 4 months ago
@MultiSr16 He also wrote new world order revisited which everyone should read. Just because he's objective about rampant population doesnt make him a eugenist. If people around the world were educated and not manipulated or distracted he wouldnt be having this conversation. If youre against control of population you better be a doctor and be on your way to haiti or calcutta to heal people or be an engineer with plans to clean water for those folks and fix their resource problems.

microsoftbighard 8 months ago
Huxley sounds kind of muddled here. Maybe he'd been taking to many mushrooms, but overpopulation is hardly a problem, and the communists failed spectacularly 30 years after this broadcast. - he underestimates the effect of propaganda, which we're suffused with right now. Nearly every statement from television is a total lie, especially from government. The French at this very year, had a philosophy, (situationism), that fully explains our current condition in work and media. Huxley= genius tho

He even was a major force in Manhattan Project.... nice people

LGZEE 3 months ago
@LGZEE Listen my friend. I'm sure your intentions are pure, but don't talk to me like I've just arrived on this planet. There is no hidden agenda behind the actions of the world's elite (who, by the way, aren't hidden themselves). The direction of history is driven by the powerful. Obviously. At the moment, the powerful are the mega-rich. Not the authors or politicians, newsreaders or athletes. The bankers and the corporations. None of this is secret. Governments follow them money, they have to.
hfc619 3 months ago
@hfc619 Wow, you are more delusional than I thought. It is obvious that the elite of this planet have an agenda and use writers, politicians and any one else they can to get their agenda moving forward. I wasn't talking to you like you just arrived on the planet, I was simply pointing out your flawed idea of who someone is or was. You seem to have faith in the fact he was a prophet. This is nonsense. If I know the weather for the next day from maps and tell you, does that make me a prophet?
LGZEE 3 months ago
@LGZEE Take off the tinfoil hat for a second. Do you personally know any writers, politicians "and any one else" who is used by the "elite of this planet"? This isn't a pissing contest but I've been closely involved with a number of politicians, high-ranking academics and many journalists. I've seen the recruitment/selection process for these people (and other, more covert government agencies) firsthand and I know how it works. Good people go into these jobs and are corrupted along the way - ...
hfc619 3 months ago
@LGZEE ... not by any mystical elite, no esoteric rewards.
There's no1 behind the curtain, everyone is chasing the dollar.
hfc619 3 months ago 2
We gobble anti depressants so we can keep slaving away at our jobs which our paycheck buys less and less each day, so we can come home and watch sports or dancing with stars....too exhausted to notice the elites have much more money and freedom than we could imagine.
