  • Don't like the hornet nest grill in front

    but it looks overall better.

  • GM gave the Chevrolet a great and beautifull Opel designed and engineered Insignia and they put a Malibu name on it....

  • I don't think it made many improvements at all from the last one, the exterior looks more like a camry or something now, and the new interior is horrible compared to the old one...but I like the nav screen, projector headlights, and the tail lights though...

  • as the sonic << bad back

  • Horrible preview. Why watch a person drive and talk. Do a classic walkaround. Exterior walkaround, IP start-up and show 4 key selling points with visuals.

  • So refined from 08 to10 lol wow!

  • i agree the world wond end 2013 :)

  • Engine sucks though

  • @608sauce no not really....

  • Slick video, but put a polarizing filter on the hood cam so we can see through the windshield better. Chevy needs a super-mileage mid-size car, though. This car, at $26k, costs too much when compared to a Kia Optima with the DI engine.

  • Nice looking car. I'll stick to my 71 Malibu though. They really need to bring back the chevelle and make the camaro a little smaller.

  • I am liking it more then the cruze. I like GM cars. General Motors is the best. GM engines last longer compared to Japanese engines that will last you at least 10 years or more. I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire. The car has 67,000 miles and is still runing new.

  • @neithanvideos my 94 accord had about 200,000 or more on it, since its odometer broke in like 2000 with 176,000 on it, but it got totaled in an accident this year, mystery on how much it has. my current 98 accord has 146,000 miles on it. hell my cousins 93 acord has about 400,000 miles on it. hell did you hear about that honda that made 1,000,000 miles? GM makes lasting cars like the 2000 impala. but dude nothing lasts like a honda. but nothing lasts like a chevy truck.

  • you have me like, half a glance at the interior. Thanks

  • 3.5L 4 banger? OMG do a V6 or a I6!!!

  • @AlexKBK pretty sure he says 2.5 not 3.5. Though 3.5L I4 would give some serious torque for a non-turbo 4

  • @determinedskeptic Oh yeah, he did say 2.5l 4 banger. Thx for correction.

  • 38mpg on highway. not bad at all...

  • The back of it loos out of order like it dosent belong it makes the car look ugly.

  • HATE the tailights. Would NEVER buy a 4 cylinder (not because of power, but the buzzy sound most make when you are "pedal to the metal").

  • "that last elegant malibu" - ROFL.... and his next sentance he called is luxorious.

  • The 2013 Ford Fusion is much nicer and will have much better sales than this 2013 Malibu.(<When in the world were they considered "luxurious".....?!?!?!

  • What a ugly looking car in and out.

  • @ssj04 sure does look better than your mother...

  • @DMJR13 trust me that thing shouldn't even be consider a car, it should be consider a trash can.

  • @ssj04 wait, you just called your mother a trash can?! the fuck man?!

  • @DMJR13 don't try to act smart stupid, you're a dumbass who think he's smart but he's just a retard? chevrolet is a crap company producing crappy cars. only loser drive chevrolet

  • @ssj04 im a dumbass who think he's smart but he's just a retard? wat? you need to go back to school and learn some grammar kid. i cant understand a single godamned sentence.

  • @DMJR13 reading disability I see... LMAO still trying to act smart. pathetic

  • @ssj04 i know your still trying to act smart grow up dude.

  • @DMJR13 Forget that tool. It's an obvious child.LOL....

  • @DMJR13 Got to agree with @1quiktransam

  • And still no 2 door coupe.

  • This car makes camrys accords altimas look like shit chevy is outgoing themselves.

  • Mail-abu?

  • I like the outside but the inside isn't all that appealing to me. The inside is what got me to buy my current Malibu (2011). But the exterior is gorgeous.

  • @randomusa100 they are doing just that ! an all new Impala is in the works, along with a 6th gen. Camaro, the Impala is scheduled to be an 2014 model year and the next gen Camaro to follow thereafter for a 2015 time-frame. it is rumored that the new platform could also be used for a return of the Chevelle. the next gen Camaro will shrink in size and weight so that the Chevelle could slot right in above it as the larger sporty 2 door coupe. we'll see. it's gonna be very interesting either way :)

  • Sick car, but 4 banger only? Hell no, PLEASE put the 3.6 6 speed in!!

  • Love it

  • The wood looks nice on the steering wheel.

  • That's just lame. America deserves better! We can build the best cars in the world. GM doesn't want to step up and do it. To all the GM workers; you are the best. To management; you insult me.

  • They should be redesigning the Impala! Its the yucky one!

  • @redneon06 well they are!, an all new Impala is already in the works, set for late 2013 early 2014. greetings

  • @CHUUMPASS Thank God they are redoing Impala. They haven't used a new body style since 2006. 2000 before that, but the Malibu has changed so many times! :)

  • I really liked the old Malibu....But this one is not as pretty as the old one! The front is too normal and uninspiring...and the rear is such a disappointment, I doesn't look sporty enough or smart enough, nor classy enough. Don't get me wrong it is still a good looking car, but the front old looking was just amazing. The interior is as good as ever. Hope it rides good as well...

  • That would have been a great car... for 2006.

  • @USA4July1776 Hey man whats your problem? YOU = Hater and loser

  • The rental companies are going to love it!

  • not something i havent seen before....the new ford taurus still gets my vote on the sexiness and performance

  • I want to see American car companies do lots of great technological innovations and blow the foreign competitors out of the market. This car looks great and I hope they sell millions of them, as we need all the good-paying jobs that we can get in this country.

  • GORGEOUS! JUST LIKE SONIC AND CRUZE

  • So now that it's 2012, isn't it time to release the 2014 Malibu...

  • Stunning car though the front end kinda reminds me of the Ford Taurus.

  • Stunning car!

  • @SuperSportSS "Stunning car!"

Let's not get carried away here... it's just a United Auto Workers produced car from that shit whole called Detroit with a horrible reputation when it comes to quality, resale value, aesthetics durability, or anything else that matters. As usual with US cars, its styling is faddish, and will go out of style fast.

  • @USA4July1776 Well, I live in Detroit. My parents and grandparents all worked for GM in some form or fashion. We all try to make a living just like you. We all drive GM cars and love them. Who cares if its a Union built car, its a hard honest living. GM is back on top in sales again, so GM must be doing something right. Oh, and you spelled "hole" wrong.

  • @SuperSportSS Oh so you built this car and have an agenda... so your praise is interested.

That's the problem, the unions are not making a "hard honest living," they're cheating and taking down America's industrial might.

So screw your socialist unions, and screw that over-priced piece of shit car.

    Government Motors is un-American.

  • @USA4July1776 My family is non-union salaried employees. We vote Republican, live in America and drive American cars. Its really quite simple. Its people like you that have to drag politics into everything that make me chuckle. You should chill out and stop being mad at the world. :)

  • @SuperSportSS I'm not mad, dude, I simply won't by your mediocre, low-quality, pieces of shit cars. That's all ;-) There's nothing "Republican" about tax-payer subsidized, socialist-union controlled Government Motors.

Enjoy Detroit. I hear the weather is beautiful in January.

  • @SuperSportSS Forget that idiot bro. Look at the user name, USA, 1776, bla, bla. I'll bet he drives a toyota with an American flag on it lol. People like that are the biggest enemy this country has. Like you, where I'm from we are American, drive American, and don't wave the American flag for novelty....

  • @1QuikTransAm Enjoy your bottom-of-the-barrel resale value... LOL!

  • 72 people work for Hyundai.

  • lol that dude is just way too laid back!

  • I want a 2 door version

  • Beautiful car, honestly. I like the newer one. The older malibus were a little ugly :3

  • This looks nice, but the new 2013 Ford Fusion is much nicer. Should actually have a larger interior and more MPG both city and hwy.

  • I love Malibu's ..just bought a 2012 LT version before Christmas..I see where the 2013 is going but really liking the way mine looks better then this new one..the interior is pretty cool..but the read is not that appealing..just my opinion...

  • America is making the nicest cars in the world again.

  • Put it on RWD platform and its sold

  • Holy crap this is a nice car. My first car was a 2001 Malibu, current a 2006 Malibu. I think my next will be the 2013 Malibu! :DDD

  • This is so much more classy than the third generation Malibu. (If this IS the fourth gen.) I was thinking about buying a 2012 Malibu, but I think I'm gonna wait.

  • 72 people dislike this because love german cars.

But fuck german cars same design , and very ugly

  • One word: sexy

  • Looks very nice, I wonder why they spoiled it with those awful tail lights?

  • This looks way better than the 2013 ford fusion aka aston martin look a like

  • @MrOldeastdallas the 2013 malibu looks WAAAY better than the model it replaces, inside and out......but thats just my opinion...

  • lol @ the gm haters. Trying to sound like educated critics. You can easily tell they do not have a clue.

  • Who thinks the previous model before this on looks better, I think so. Thumbs up if y'all agree with me folks.

  • Too bad it's FWD. Don't care about it then.

  • Better looking than a Sonata, Fusion, Camry, etc. This car will get the attention it deserves.

  • once again, front of the car is beautifully designed, the rear is ugly as sin. I'm buying a ford fusion

  • GM has the most beautiful cars out here.....

  • @1QuikTransAm Only thing is their leather breaks down, their radio controls and steering wheels rub off... if only they'd use better interior materials among other things

  • WHEN COMES TO MEXICO MALIBU LTZ 2013?

  • the tail lights on this are uglyer then the old ones. the last one was way better then this all thay needed was to make a two daaor of the old one and call it the chevlle with a v8 and rear drive

  • So GM is making their budget sedan look like a camaro, This is really stupid because 6 months after it's released the malibu won't look like a camaro, the camaro will look like a malibu because you've seen malibu after malibu, now the camaro has completely lost the "Cool Factor" because they've effectively associated it with a Cheap-ass boring family car. Now all they need to do is make it out of chinese and mexican parts and sell it under 8 name plates and then hey guess what GMs bankrupt AGAIN

  • @bartmatton i don't really see the camaro in this other than a bit in the tail lights

  • pos

  • 2.5l 4 cylinder yes yes yes its the 350 4 cylinder

  • im going to buy this and when i do the first thing im going to do is switch out that radio

  • ford tourus Sho vs this beat

  • The announcer speaks in a monotone unenthused fashion....He would be more suitable as an announcer for a Golf tournament......and he needs to lose the 1950's style eyeglasses....

  • @dwi189 I thought the announcer did a good job and knew what he was talking about

  • @dwi189 He's not an "announcer" or some nobody trying to entertain you. He's the editor of Motor Trend Detroit test driving a preproduction Malibu.

  • @organictip Well, if this editor writes the way he talks,, I now have two solutions for insomnia.....reading the magazine....or watching a Motor Trend video with this editor talking.....If he were calling the 1986 Mets World Series Gme Six miracle win against the Red Sox, anyone watching on TV would have long fallen asleep by the 3rd inning....

  • :D

  • it looks like the cruze

  • This guy is so boring.......

  • This should outsell the new Camry, "Hope it does"

  • Rear looks like a Kia forte and front looks like a buick lacrosse

  • It needs a GDI Turbo option if they're adamant about sticking with the four. Loaded with luggage and people with the AC blasting in the middle of summer I don't foresee inspiring performance.

  • good reviewer!

  • much better car than the 2012 Camry !at least in terms of style ,one thing i am not pleased with is a v6 option for this new Malibu but either way i wouldn't buy one

  • I want

  • how do you rate a video your watching

  • ese coche en ecuadr seria un exito

  • Ayye, Chevy is taking the ass implants and stuff it in its Class Four Door Sedan just ike Dodge did with Charger and Challenger. I think thats an awesome idea very good image for the company!

  • Interior is nice, but exterior in my opinion looks out of proportion. A bit cartoonish (1:40), looks like a kid drew it. But the interior looks fantastic and very solid.

  • Really would like a V6 option.

  • damn...that's a great looking car. and that interior looks nicer than anything the japanese cars have had.

  • bring back the Chevelle

  • eewww rebadge of the Opel Insignia

  • @RichKilla86ers You goof, it doesn't even look like an insignia.

  • @TheseSmithers007 no ur ignorant. Both Insignia & Malibu use GM Epsilon platform u fool.

  • @RichKilla86ers Jeeze, that's a bit harsh. Yeah They are both based on the same platform, along with the Pontiac G6, the Saturn Aura, the Buick LaCrosse and more, but that doesn't mean that the Malibu is a mere rebadge of the Insignia. It is different overall design. A true rebadge is like the Commodore and the G8.

  • @TheseSmithers007 haha my bad if it lil harsh to ya. So u meant different as in PHYSICAL design.

  • @RichKilla86ers Yah, like with those Pontiac imports all they did was flip the driving controls to the "American" side and put Pontiac badging on it.

  • @RichKilla86ers Buick Regal is the Opel Insignia with a different grille. No Opel's are offered in the Untied States so not a re-badge. The G6 Aura and current Malibu are on the Epsilon I. The new Malibu is on Epsilon II which is a all new platform. The regal is on the short based Epsilon II, new Malibu super Epsilon II.

  • WHOA those rear light scared the shit out of me

  • i was gonna get a camry, but then i realized it looks the same as it has for the last 15 years. if im gonna spend the money i atleast want a car that looks like it belongs in this decade so im thinking im going to get this

  • @MrAmix2010 i would get the AWD dodge charger! beautiful car!powerful Hemi or the fuel efficient v6? dodge makes very nice cars, trucks, and suv's

  • @MrAmix2010 I was thinking to buy the new Malibu, but they I realized so many people are well aware that CAmry is a better and more reliable car. That's why many consider to buy it such as yourself. So, instead of gambling with a GM car that company produces good looking but crappy cars, I would go with Camry and play safe.

  • @MrAmix2010 get a fusion the new ones look so sexy

  • everyone who is complaining about no v6, there will be a turbo 4 later on with most likely 270hp

  • 2012 Camry, here I come! Nice try Chevy.

  • But look at the car

  • Boo!! No V6?...come on

  • no v6???? wtf

  • almost looks like a ford taurus but still a chevy soo i will nevver buy one

  • My main gripe with the previous design was the tail lights so I'm glad they redesigned it. This car looks pretty awesome.

  • @staind687: "My main gripe with the previous design was the tail lights"... unfortunately that's mine with this current one. :-(

  • better than impala this will take on ford taures

  • may i knw the song on this video ?

  • God help us if the new C7 Corvette is going to have square rear lights like this Malibu. Keep Corvette rear lights round and 4 of them. Also keep round Instrumentation on the dash for the vette.

  • wow, looks like another great malibu. my 2005 malibu's 3.5l v6 got 37.6 mpg going 75 oneday

  • @stydel311 going downhill (or downmountain if you will) in neutral with the engine off?

  • @wantsanewvehicle dead serious haha

  • @stydel311 haha.. nice try, but no..

  • this will be my next demo...

  • Judging from these comments a lot of people don't know what they are talking about. This looks much better than the new and cheap looking 2012 Camry. The gas pedal is the correct size on the Chevy.

  • lol Malibu...does anyone care? Let's be real...the only people caring about this are the people who manage inventory at Hertz, Avis, Budget, and Alamo.

  • This new Malibu doesn't look as fresh as it needs to be in order to compete in this segment.

  • look like opel insignia...

  • I just can't take GM seriously anymore. It will most certainly be crap!!

  • @Maniac5Mike like all toyotas

  • nice clean look but shut the door and it sounds like tin foil. I'll pass

  • Looks great for sure, the problem with Chevy is reliability and fake material. LTZ will cost in Canada 38k, Mercedes class c full equipped cost 42k. German engineering is a guaranteed value.

  • But it won't look the same.

  • You sound so boring

  • If I ever get this car rear wheels needs wider tires. This large car looks weird with thin tires (width).

  • This car is designed by Australians just like the Camaro.

  • looks like chevrolet epica in the front

  • This new model follows the platform of the 2010 Buick Regal, which is a very sleek and elegant lookin' car too!

  • looks like a GIANT cruze

  • Looks very much like the current Malibu!

  • THE MALIBU ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE A DAMN CAMRY!!!! ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A MUSCLE CAR!!!! HOW DO YOU GO FROM THE 71 MALIBU TO THIS!!!!!

  • @tylercjenkins12345 Have you not been paying attention to the auto industry?

  • @tylercjenkins12345 nobody wants 71 malibu's anymore. They sell nothing but muscle cars, and their going by the way of the dinosaurs. Theres a younger crowd now, and if I want a muscle car, im getting a CTS-V coupe.

  • @rehsa2194 First off, 71 malibu fully restored is now worth MORE than this junk here. which means YES! it is a desired car...its a classic...dodge was smart and redesigned theyre challenger after the classic...know why the 2011 challenger is one of the most successful cars that dodge has right now? because it looks how it should. just like the mustang looks like the 67 fast back right now. And you know nothing of the younger crowd because the majority of the young crowd drives sports cars...

  • @tylercjenkins12345 Now you listen to me dumbass, your idea of a sports car is becoming obselete, out of the 3 new muscle cars, the challenger is the heaviest, worst handling and least powerfull. No one gives a damn about a straight line only, gas guzzling, rubber burning muscle car with absolutely crap for brakes, no cornering and no top speed. Fuck your idea of how a "american car" is supposed to look like, catering to youre dying breed is what drove them to bankruptcy, Fuck off

  • @tylercjenkins12345 And since you bring up youre younger crowd BS being 22 I think I know a thing or two about how we think. Furthermore, the new regal gs hits the "I want something sportier" crowd. What? are all of their cars supposed to be sports cars only? Can you not comprehend that the younger senseable crowd wants a sports car for weekends and a 40 mpg dailly driver work a commute work car? Is that too much for youre senile brain? Go enroll in an old folks home and die, you're out dated.

  • @tylercjenkins12345 Theres a whole lot of us who could care less about performance in a daily driver, grocery getter, and road tripper. I want performance, im getting a corvette. Zo6 at least, and could care less about mpg. But for a daily driver? Most room good looks, and most mpg is where its at, it could take 10 secs to 60 for all I care. And im a performance nut.

  • it's very expensive here on saudi arabia and that is way people didn't bought it .. also Chevrolet need to improve there car cause the japanes cars is better than americans cars , japanes car can be alive for 10 years as minimum but american can be just for 6 years as maximum cause the weather here on saudi are very hot for american cars

  • @gasmanwag96 HA! thats funny your geeting half of the V-8 your getting a 4 banger! Why do they make it sportier yet downgrade the engine! They better put out a V-6 for this car or a that minimum put a turbo-charged 4 cylinder

  • I really like this new design. It looks like it'll stand out from other brands.

  • Does anyone find the music very creepy?

  • there better be an ss version with a v8

  • I will be buying one of these cars in the near future.

  • Can I rupture both my eardrums before I hear that turn signal? The new Camry and the Malibu are both mediocre. The slit head lamps with the squarish tail lamps is awkward. Billion dollars from the government and this is all GM could muster?

  • Looks hell of a lot better than that new 2012 Camry. I'd much rather be seen in one of these :)

  • @theiceman9081 You're right it does look better than the latest Camry installment, but I'm still not sold on American reliability. For my next car I'm going Asian.
