While Paco and Manuelo are in the "cafe de Chinitas" Paco pretends to be the best "torero" to his brother (hermanos). He responds that on the same day, at 5.00 a "toro" will die. But it's the bad moment and at 5.00 is Paco who is dead! (But is not clear by whom!)
I understand what you mean.. That´s spanish folklore and he only owerwritten melodies and made arrangement. But it´s really wonderful! As Lorca, so Falla :) ...Maybe I more prefer this Lorca´s collection. I Love it!
I also don't speak spanish and i have lost(!) the livret of the LP. I know the greek translation, but i remember that it is a little different than the English translation existed in the livret. The greek version speek about a torero whose name is Paco
genial

En el "Café de Chinitas" dijo Paquiro a su hermano: Soy más valiente que tú, más torero y más gitano.
In the "Coffee of Chinitas" Paquiro said his brother: I'm braver than you, more torero (bullfighter) and more gipsy.

Ella ha dejado las mejores versiones de las canciones populares de Manuel de Falla y Garcia Lorca

The owners of the café are the family of tennis player Fernando Verdasco.

What she actually sings is
"In the Cafe de Chinitas Paquito's brother said to him:
I'm more courageous than you. A better bullfighter, and more gypsy.
In the Cafe de Chinitas Frascuelo said to Paquito:
I'm more courageous than you. A better bullfighter, and more gypsy.
Paquito took out his watch and said this way:
This bull is going to die before 4:30.
It became 4:00 in the street and they left the Cafe.
And there was Paquito in the street. A star bullfighter."

thank you very much. I understood your translation :)
Hmmm, really sad story!! Lorca written wonderful music to this story + that Teresa´s interpretation :-* :-* <3 <3 <3 <3 :-* :-* :-* BRAVA!!
BravaBerganza01 3 years ago
I think the music is not by Lorca! They are popular Spanish songs that Lorca and De Fallia
have selected.

@BravaBerganza01
These songs were not written by Lorca, He collected them and wrote them down so they would not be lost, much as Burns did in Scotland.
Also, the explaination of the story above, is not stricktly correct.
thirlestanelodge2 10 months ago
@BravaBerganza01 Paquiro, was a real person. He was a famous torero in the mid 19thcent. He did much to formalize the corrida as we know it today.

@Macbett0 Hi! Some corrections to you explanation:
The second brother is Frascuelo and not Manuelo.
Paquiro (Paco) says to be a better bullfighter than his brother and that he will kill his bull before 16.30.
At 16.00 he leaves the Cafe as an acclamated-succesfull torero (torero de cartel) to go kill the bull, so nobody dies.
You probably confused yourself with the poem " La cogida y la muerte" from "Llanto por Ignazio Sancez Mejias" were the torero dies at 5.00 p.m

@sifis76 No dear!, i didn't confuse it with the "Llanto por Ignazio Sancez Mejias".
I know this song also with greek(!!!) lyrics. I thought it was a translation ... but as i see from your explanation it isn't! Thank you!
