  • "We played God...created life. When that life turned against us we convinced ourselves that it wasn't our fault. Not really. But the day comes when you can't hide from the thing that you've done." Commander William Adama.

  • I was a prince with power over millions!

  • what movie was the clip of those sacks the people were in geting sliced open from

  • I watch this every day just for the music XD

  • Music is better.

  • Scary stuff... and we are not far off either. When human existance is no longer sacred, we lose our souls and become mere raw material, to be exploited by those in authority over us. Humanity will destroy itself very shortly.

  • Rather than escape and conquest, augments could have been used as generals, the elite of our nations' military industrial complexes. with greater and greater war the military would become dominate over our civilian governments, and thus we would find ourselves the augments' slaves.

  • The "bad guy" Augments are a particular type of Eugenic modified human in the Star Trek Universe, but DNA sequencing is a common medical practice at that point, although usually to correct problems, not to create a super race.

  • Some of the DS9 episodes related that while the Star Trek future is a "Utopia" by current standards, there are still many social issues that make for "interesting times". It could be argued that in the eyes of Dark Ages Europe, even the police states of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were "Utopias".

Also, in the backstory for Tasha Yar, and the Star Trek V the Final frontier, we get the idea that various Federation/Earth colonies have numerous conflicts and social breakdowns.

  • Yes, I feel that even star fleet itself runs the risk of a certain amount of despotism, especially following the devastation of the Dominion war, as well as the constant borg threat.

I think though, that the overriding message is that earth itself had reach a planet wide state of peace and prosperity never seen before in its entire history, with the never end quest to expand peace and prosperity on a galactic scale.

  • exactly, look how many starfleet uniforms sit on the Federation Council in the movies. Reminds me of the freaking Politburo.

  • i read in the star trek encyclopaedia that the interesting thing about the eugenics wars was that if Khan was in his 30s at the end of the wars in 1996, then he would have been born before the original series aired! which suggests the genetic supermen were gestated during the cold war, perhaps rejected as a weapon once it became clear that an all out conflict would result in MAD.

    just a\ thought.

    cool vid.

  • Where are all these clips from? Or did you make them yourself?

I also read the two books, by Greg Cox. Very good series.

    Anyway, kudos!

  • The clips appear to be from "The Island" and something from the late 70s or early 80s judging by the lighting and quality of film.

  • I used clips from The Island, The Spy Who Loved Me (James Bond), Sixth Day, Deep Impact, Apollo 13 and Red Planet. Glad you liked it.

  • any chance you'll do part 3

  • Jc32810, which is the music at 1:36 and onward?

  • @jc32810 and independence Day.

  • They really should make this into a series on television. I read the two books about it and they kicked serious ass! They were alot better than most Star trek books are.

  • have you ever seen gattaca ? It fares better storyline in the DNA resequencing disaster.

  • No it doesn't since dystopias and utopias are impossible and a great heresy of science fiction. The Eugenics Wars are far superior because the scientists are not malevolent in there intent and the augments want to hurt humanity because humanity tried to hurt them first and hurt the scientists that created them.

  • nice editing.. 5stars on the start (part 1.) but what happened at the last 40 seconds or so... black screen????

  • I messed up editing when I rendered the video and haven't had the chance to fix it yet. Glad you like it.

  • Very impressed. Loved it!
