I can answer that even though I've never been but I'm headed there in a few weeks. This was told to me by several friends who have been there to have their SRS/AM done. The reason your mum and dad won't let you ride one is those tuk tuk drivers are INSANE, well most of them are. This one seemed pretty tame but they usually wheel around without looking for other traffic and there is alot of speeding there as well. Most of them from what I've been told are crazy, insane drivers.
