  • This is a stellar execution of a song that can as well be the ultimate rock anthem ! Wow, my eyes went out of my skull ! [-_-]

  • Maybe my favourite Thin Lizzy song.

  • I know Gary Moore is on guitar here, but doesn't he look like Johnny Ramone?

  • True legends. Not much else to say.

  • Dear Dimebag62: Thanks so much for posting this video...LOVE IT!!!!!!!

  • is phil wearing a sea-foam blue, emergency reflector blanket?

  • Mark Nauseef isn't doing too bad on the drums on this song as a fill-in - and this song was a drum tour-de-force and a way for the extremely underrated Brian Downey to show off his talents.

  • better than maiden. better than metallica.

  • @ezrhino100 i agree, cuz without Thin Lizzy; there woyldnt be any maiden or 'tallica, bands i love too btw. god bless thin lizzy!!!!

  • any bet Phil banged a fair few aussie chick's that night!

  • @LedZepGuitarman A black, Irish Gunslinger with a bad reputation, in town for one more night - look out Laydeez!!!

  • @LedZepGuitarman: of course he did, the whole band did...just look at that stage full of electricity and that crowd and those girls shaking their all!

  • Our band does a 3 piece version of this with a female vocalist if anyone is interested, search for "Night Of The Wolf Moon, Deep Blue dJinn" .

Phil had such a great sound. The good die young.

  • Awesome footage RIP Gary Moore

    R.I.P. Gary Moore.

  • @exterminater999

    dont forget about Phil too

    just as important

  • @MrHolynutsack69

yeah, very true, both Gary and Phil were masters of their instruments and songwriting

  • rip Gary Moore a total legend

  • 1 Bieber, Boy Bad fan has a BAD REP! This Song KICKS MAJOR ASS!

  • if there's a new Thin Lizzy album coming out, fuck yeah I'm buying it. though, it won't be the same with out Phil like Queen was with Freddie, but still I'll support that brilliant Irish band till the very end!

  • THE GOOD OLD DAYS

  • bog niggers rock!

  • The drummer sounds and plays like neal peart

  • grandissimo gruppo anche nei live!

  • Totally Awesome Hit Song & Concert Also, Even with Brian Downey taking a break THIN LIZZY's Live & Dangerous Tour Still was Rockin! Phil Lynott is Missed every single day .. but Scott Gorham, Brian Downey & Darren Wharton will be on Tour in England .. Jan. 2011, .. Keeping Phil's Music Alive .. Hell Yes!

  • WoW! Jus fuckin" wOw!

  • Awesome!

  • AWESOME DRUMMER

  • @ZanxGuitar I think thats Simon Phillips. Filled in for Brian Downey

  • @vntr2006 Drummer is Mark Nauseef, formerly of Ian Gillan Band. Downey was having touring break at the time due exhaustion.

  • @vntr2006 Drummer is Mark Nauseef, formerly of Ian Gillan Band. Downey was having touring break at the time due exhaustion.

  • another example of pure talent that could have blossomed for years to come that was taken from us by fucking dope....love and miss u phil!

  • guitars ahead to Maiden´s style

  • they were the Aslan of the 70's, hardest working and rocking band going.

  • I was there in 78 and they were so very good. I still get choked up when I think of the day I heard the news of Phils passing.

  • was that Brian Downey on drums?Didnt look like him.

  • You´re right; Downey wasn't in good health to perform here. His stand-in was Mark Nauseef, known from Ian Gillan Band.

  • @boelin what, that wasnt downey???!

  • man these dudes brought the goods

so cool to see the diff takes this

and the bad rep promo vid

this one a bit faster tempo

but gorham burns it up on both

never 've been able to dig this concert vid tho w/o downey there

but for sure the sub pounds it out

    just he aint brian

  • fucking orgasmic les pauls

i wonder where those particular guitars are now....

  • It sounds like they were in God's hands. GREAT STUFF!!!!

  • NOBODY rocked harder than Lizzy, even the makeshift version in this concert.

Philip was the incarnation of cool, wasn't he? I miss that guy every damn day.

  • i agree 100% with everthing you've said :]

  • what other bands played at this show?

    this is great footage.

    5*'s

  • Other bands on the day were: Wakoo, The Sports and Jon English. The event was called Rocktober and sponsored by a Sydney radio station called 2SM. It was a free concert. I spoke with Jon English about this gig at a concert by The Who about a year ago. He said Thin Lizzy were a great band.

  • Here I am again!!! Could it have been an overload in the recording equipment? Well, I don't think so. This kind of 'release' would be an absurd setting on even the best compressors. FOH-Fail.

  • I took a listen again and @1:02 is NOT compression dude!

  • It's possible ... I'm a FOH man myself, like you said it could be a compression OD, but it sounds to me like there's some +3dB goin'on on the whole drumgroup. Anyways, I'm always in for a good discussion/conversation. Greetz.

  • The FOH guy shouldn't have put up the drum-group that way in the drum breaks. It's too obvious. Anyways, this is what hard-dope was invented for.

  • it's called compression. when the other music drops out the overall signal volume gets quieter so therefore the compressor backs off to regain volume. You hear it all the time on the radio these days because they compress the crap out of everything to make sure the signal doesnt ever peak.

  • Awesome!

  • I was at this gig and can see myself in this clip.

It was amazing-70,000 people on the opera house steps-biggest sydney concert crowd at that point in time.

Can you imagine the view they had-looking behind us at the crowd was amazing. Sydney at its best.

  • Thin Lizzy in its prime.

  • No way brian robertson and scott gorham with brian on drums was def the best lineup. I just taught my self the solo to this song and will be uploading it shortly, personally i dont think it sounds too bad. P.S. Scott gorham is my fav guitarist by far!!! Besides buck dharma....

  • Please could you tab the solo out? ive been trying to do it for years! Id really appreciate it. Amasing group, and amasing song thanx for the upload 5 stars!

  • I agree as well, Buck Dharma is my favorite. He can play anything!!!!

  • zadnej sciemy ino czad! ciarrry!

  • is as simple as saying amazing

  • awesome sound. thin lizzy rules.

lol nice moves at the beginning.

  • to chyba najlepszy sklad i to byl najlepszy czas dla lizzy.ech phill ajka szkoda ze...

  • loved when gary moore played with lizzy it sounded different more melodic and powerful compared to when robbo was in!!

  • I prefer gary's sound than sykes or robbo's sound, gary is amazing

  • I agree man! However I prefer the lizzy era gary to his present style. Altough his jazz playing is insane nowadays.....still, not as cool as lizzy though :)

  • I thought Gary was more of a blues player.

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!

  • Opera House? This was filmed at Sydney Harbour.

  • yep and if you check for a camera view looking from stage over the audience, what do we see in the back??? A Concrete Oyster ..LOL

  • that was so kickass. OMG new favorite band.

  • Shit HOT!

I love this line-up; Mark Nauseef was the perfect drummer to fill in for Brian Downey.

I'm so glad this show was preserved for all times.

  • Thats NOT Brian Downy on drums, it's Mark Nauseef who was filling in on last minute notice. Brian had to return home to his dad's funeral or something like that.

  • Gary Moore is king!!!!

    Love Thin Lizzy

  • Why Why, Did this guy Die??? Amazing Irish Icon!!!!!!!!!!!! Gary Moore Not bad either!!

  • ye he died cz of drugs... :(

  • actually he died of pneumonia

  • @steven09566 heroin and coke suck!!!

  • @steven09566 ,

    Too much Smack.

  • @steven09566 Phil Lynott defined rock from the day he was born to the day he died. NO ONE else can ever take his place. Probably not even Gary Moore. However, Gary is fantastic as a musician.

  • @steven09566: why oh why wasnt I there! good lord, they were beyond awesome. sick of indie tripe

  • Best Live Band Ever

  • SSSSSS rolisimaaa

this song is the best of the best of thin lizzy men

  • Even though I knew Thin Lizzy before, I'm so glad guitar hero 2 introduced me to this song.

    and this performance is amazing

  • It's a bit unfair that Gary Moore did the leads with Scott Gorham. Bad Reputation had always been Gorham's solo, Gorham's spotlight moment. It actually sounded cool, but that contributes with Scott Gorham being always known as "the other Thin Lizzy guitarist who is not Gary Moore, John Sykes or Brian Robertson".

  • Scott is doing all the leads

  • Gary Moore is doubling.

  • Brilliant song,,,,,,,,

  • Great!!! \m/

  • Nice jacket, Phil ;)

  • Phil L. just looks too fly...

  • They just blowed the stage to shreds. Would not want to be the band to have to go on after that.

  • Is that not brian downey on drums?

  • I was thinking the same thing, Little. Doesn't really look like him. I know he had a replacement from time to time while the band toured. I don't remember his hair ever being that curly.

  • i like how they dance in thwe 70's

  • this is a rockin video!

  • puts a smile on my face

  • fuckin SWEET

  • i think this gig was one o gorham's best moments. and is this the only full thin lizzy live gig available with gary moore?

  • I don't know as far as video goes...but I know there are several other audio bootlegs floating around of Thin Lizzy with Moore playing on them.

  • Try their gig at the "old grey whistle test". Gary moor plays phenomenal lead on his track "don't believe" me.

  • oh ye forgot about that one. thats more of a gary moore centered show though, which is still great and all!

  • Thin Lizzy merecia mais reconhecimento.Great band. They Rock.

  • yea gary moore kicked ass he had the best style on stage to out of all there guitarists

  • Gary Moore lacks feel...what??? Anyway, Lizzy is awesome and Gary Moore was the best guitarist they had.

  • God Damn., Lizzy at the top of their game.

  • lots of people give props to Phil.

  • What? You're kidding. He's one of the greatest ever. James Hetfield said that Phil Lynott is the most influential rocker on him personally, and Metallica covered Lizzy's version of "Whiskey in the Jar".

  • this song sounds like the start of '80s rock to me.

  • this is a rockin video! on GH2 tey didnt get the song close.

  • What a pioneering band. Not sure about Gary Moore, though. He lacks feel.

  • I agree Gray lacks feel where near Phil. Phil was always front man.

  • I wouldn't say Moore lacks feeling, at least not so overtly, but I do think the chemistry the band had with Robertson was much more appealing to me, despite any technical shortcomings he may have had.

  • Turn it upside down!!!

  • dimebag62, thank you so much man, you FUCKIN rule!

  • I was in that crowd. Phil was so sexy.

  • Gary Moore & Thin Lizzy?? FUCKIN'N A!

  • Was that Mark Nauseef filling in on drums? I love his 3 floor toms....

  • That´s Brian Downey. The one and only Lizzy drummer.

  • Brian Downey didn't go on this tour so he could get his life in order and spend some time with his son. He was pretty heavily into drink and drugs and wanted out.

Mark Nausiff (I may be wrong in the spelling) filled in for him on this tour.

  • Sorry. Thanks for letting me know.

  • No worries!

  • thats not brian downey he's not half as good dude!!

  • Brian Downey co-wrote this song no contest

  • Brian Downey is, by far, one of the greatest drummers ever. And by the seventies, there were few playing as good, accurately and powerfully as he did.

  • @VictorGuilherme shame brian wasn't at this gig though:/

  • @filmaker93 Yeah... But this guy is pretty good too.

  • my favourite Lizzy song

  • Very Special! With Gary Moore on lead guitar,.. there is absolutely no dropoff! Brian Robertson, broke his hand in a Bar room, Disagreement,.. & was replaced with Gary Moore. Great Show!

  • phil has fucking style i saw the whole dvd i'm affraid lizzy was a little before my time. they're still my favorit band though

  • fantastic drum beat on this song..great song.

  • hell yea!

  • i agree all the way!!!!

  • Awesome! Keep the Lizzy coming!!
