Sometimes high school can be tantamount to a prison sentence. It is an environment where only the strong an fit survive and the weaker breed die out. If people see that you have the slightest difference, you're prone to be terrorized by your peers. I can almost imagine what it would be like for a person with AS being placed in a regular school and forced to adapt quickly to the taunts of their peers and the apathy of the teachers, administration, etc. especially in today's era where technology
High school, that was like my own personal hell. That's where you're trapped, with no way out whatsoever. Just the terror, the intimidation and bullying and the ostracization... Not to mention the hierarchy and the pecking order. All that social fascism crap.
Now, with a proper education and an interesting job, I can look back at that period and fully see how absurd and primordial this whole high school system is. There, conformity is enforced and autonomous thinking is met with oppression.
Kill the aspies! Drive them to the oceans, and drown their young! Impale them on fallen branches tipped with obsidian! Tie up their hands and feet, set fire to their faces, and let them slowly sink in quicksand! Smash their hands and feet, then lock them in a cage full of hungry, angry pigs! Create a huge beef grinder, then feed them through, slowly, feet-first! Shove thermite up their asses! Grease them up, and shove them down the throats of whales! Skin them alive then kill 'em all with fire!

hey, just because you read on the internet about asperger's syndrom doesn't mean you got it. Much of the information on the web is junk nowadays. As soon as we meet a person, we make judgements about him/her. The people that call others who have autism bullies are jerks themselves.
I have Asperger's and i still have a hard time understanding what it is, and people have to tell me things over and over and over again before i can understand them beacuse i learn very slowly.
The only friends i really have are online beacuse i can't seem to find anything in commen with the people i meet in my own town
true. same here, i have this condition and the constants seem to be trouble understanding certain things.....and if you think "i'm nothing like the kid in the video", of course, everyone is different, even within different conditions such as AS...
Hmm, I have AS and I was nothing like that kid at that age towards the beggining or in the video. I've actually always been vailed as a "normal" kid. Could it be that there is literally a spectrum of AS within the Autism spectrum?
i mean, my boy has made much progress and i'm so proud of him. he just lacks what it takes in the dating game, and he's expressed how badly he wants a wife. hell, he's had a beautiful woman before who basically threw herself onto him. i just need some advice on how my son can meet that right women. i told him you can't find her in a church, or in a club, they have to need you as badly as you need them.
i understand the frustrations and anguish of dealing with asperger's syndrome, as i have a son with asperger's syndrome, whose website i am writing on. he is so high functioning and has made so much progress and advancement in time it is amazing. he is a bodybuilder, a consummate piano player, he fairs pretty well in lumberjacking. my boy has gone from 255 to a slim mountain of muscle. i mean, his problem is dating women. he wants a wife when i die to take care of him and start a family.
whoa whoa , wait. more than 90% of the eight grade is signed up for the aspergers support group? what the hell is going on? NO ONE at my school had aspergers
The people that sign up for the support group aren't the ones with Aspergers, they are the ones supporting those who do have it, being their friend, etc.
The people that sign up for the support group aren't the ones with Aspergers, they are the ones supporting those who do have it, being their friend, etc.
@ligyro You most definitely had kids with AS in your school. When 1 in 110 children have an autism disorder, you had to have some kids in your school that had it unless you went to a school with fewer than 110 students. The school won't tell you another child's medical diagnosis, its against the law.
If anyone wants help with aspergers, sub to my channel and if I get enough subs, I can really help you and get the work going. So sub to me, it only benefits you!
I have high functioning autism as well- P.D.D-NOS. I admire my fellow slightly autistic brethren, for they put up with a lot more shit from people with normal cognitive abilities. I resent people with normal cognitive abilities who display any rudeness or hatred in their behavior. They understand people emotionally and socially, unlike a slightly autistic person, and what do they do, they mock others. Pathetic that people who have normal mental functions use their knowledge to aggitate others!
@matthias66 I have PDD-NOS Myself. In my experience I lived in Denver Colorado for 13 and half years, all my friends for 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th grade had disabilities. I never asked or specified what disability 2 of me friends had, but for the rest. One was my top best friend, who had a Very Bad case of PDD-NOS, we always talk to each other about what we like and just all conversations. And another friend were both twins, who were extreme Spasms.
Reply to @matthias66 part 2: And the twins would have these crazy over their head breakouts, and would sometimes pretend they are going SUPERNOVA or something, just very HYPER and causing trouble, but they were my friends. And I would help them calm down. When 5th grade came, I was transfered to a school called Cory elementry. I was still friends with my friend with PDD-NOS from me old school. But at Cory I met new friends. One had some ADHD, very interesting friend I made.
Reply to @matthias66 part 3: And another friend I made at Cory had heart problems, because he had 2 heart transplants. After 5th. we moved to Pennsylvania. and I was in middle school. My friend from Denver were me REAL friends, and inspiring. But when I came to Welsh Valley middle school. I meta friend who had Asperger Syndrome, but it seemed mild. He is now my only friend I hang out with in PA.
Oh and thanks for the video I have AS myself, I can sometimes be depressed like crazy because of the fact that very few people tolerate me and people aren't ever going to understand me that well. I highly encourage you to keep making videos like this, it's awesome!
Kids who bully have social issues if they didn't then why do they treat people like crap? Treating people like crap makes it easier for bullies to interact. Makes it appear they have no disability.
bullying yes to the point i felt imprisoned.. my whole life was about trying to be like other people to be normal yet i tried so hard even when i surpassed them i still questioned whether i was good enough - read about how I came to terms with my condition
Aspergers is a gift, it gives you a brilliant memory and many with Aspergers in the past have gone on to great things and become famous. This rubbish that Aspergers is "autistic" is stupid. I have Aspergers but I have never accepted that I have a disability or autistic disorder - just because they have poor social skills doesn't mean that their autistic so why are people with AS singled out and made to feel different?
That's right. If you have Asperger's Syndrome, don't consider it as a threat, but a great asset. There are no disabilities found in a person who has AS. Your giftedness is a great gift. You have the potential, use it wisely.
Because the world is full of ignorant F#$%tards thats why! Aspergers is just a LABEL like add adhd. bipoler what ever! We are all special in our own way it's what in your heart that counts!
There are many personalities out there and no one makes labels for them, so why make a label for this?
Also, people may think Aspergers have only one perticuler interest. Ah...NO!! BIG TIME NO!
It should not be called a disablity, because they have MANY inerests are VERY GOOD at them. Also, because Aspies are intelligent, they don't like to hang around with idiotic morons who don't do anything.Their smart.
I have it and i dnt regard that i have a disability either. hwever the main reason they label it such is so ppl with as arent discrimanated against for jobs and stuff as part as disability disacrimated act. its a probelm though coz most ppl i know only regard a disability as someone with a wheelchair/brain problems/damage
Human nature is what it is.Some time when poeple don't undrestand sometime or someone they(the people who don't understand)can and do act hostile ...even violent
I agree with you that human nature is a cause for resentment, misunderstanding, and judgement. However, is it fitting that humans with normal cognitive behaviors and social understanding mock and criticize people they don't understand? People with normal cognitive abilities have the blessing of understanding people socially and emotionally, a gift they take too much for granted. And yet they use that gift for self centered and petty reasons. Such a capacity for good, and yet so often wasted.
I have Aspergers. We are a child trapped in an adult body waiting to bloom. You just wait. If someone takes the time to teach us, we can learn. THere is a will, there is a way. If it wasnt for the services for adults with disabilities, I wouldnt know how to live on my own, I wouldnt cook or daily chores or budget, I wouldnt have a job. But guess what folks, I do. There are services that will help you. Sure I got times that I dont understand, but those who willing to help, will help you learn...
Actually, I suffer from Aspergers as well. Socially, people with Asbergers are disabled but they aren't because most people can teach them along the way when they making mistakes or not. Sad thing is, most people will never understand what autism is.
You are gifts to this world...Your spirits were born into these bodies for a purpose. You are Very Special souls, sent to teach the others understanding, compassion, and love...You are the lucky one's, for you already know what they have yet to learn...
I'm beginning to see something I didn't before about how normal types cling to the inside of that box, paying attention only to what fits in the box, and don't easily tolerate those who are different. My kid is a lot like someone with Aspergers. Maybe he has it. I didn't know because I'm not that normal myself! I'm going to keep learning what's the best way for him to make his way in the world.
yeah, sheps999. Socially, Aspergers people are disabled, in the most literal sense of the word. That is what people don't understand, because other than that they don't seem different at all, for the most part.
each person with asperger's chooses their own term for their condition, Personally, I think disabled is a very powerful word but has many negative connotations. I prefer to use the term impairment. Because most people I have met with Asperger's ARE able to communicate and interact but the process is impaired, ie it is harder and stressful to do it, but often not impossible. Also being a spectrum disorder the severity is different in each individual's case.
I have AS and as far as I am concerned it is a disability.
That doesn't mean that I can't have a fulfilling life it just means I struggle a lot because aspects of day tp day life affect me differently than most people.
Labelling it a disability itself is not a negative thing, it only becomes negative when people let it bog them down
Just because someone isn't sitting in a wheel chair doesn't mean they don't have difficulties. Since when is someone different a degenerate of society? What is wrong with being crippled? People don't suffer from disabilities, they suffer from the ignorance of others!
Thank you, We just have to help make it more publicly known that this condition exists and needs a little bit of specialized attention. Does everyone that you know understand this condition? Please pass this on so that other schools can take the same action that this one did.
I'm an aspie who used to live in Salt Lake City. I also had my graduation taken away from me despite having good grades. I was framed and denied being able to graduate until paying a massive fine at a time when my family was penniless.

IceChateau777 1 year ago
hey, just because you read on the internet about asperger's syndrom doesn't mean you got it.

Chibiicap 3 years ago
true. same here, i have this condition and the constants seem to be trouble understanding certain things.....and if you think "i'm nothing like the kid in the video", of course, everyone is different, even within different conditions such as AS...
Thecheckerchex 3 years ago

NO ONE at my school had aspergers
ligyro 3 years ago
The people that sign up for the support group aren't the ones with Aspergers, they are the ones supporting those who do have it, being their friend, etc.

@ligyro how do you know i did not know for 40 years..jeff
petchharrison 1 year ago
@ligyro You most definitely had kids with AS in your school. When 1 in 110 children have an autism disorder, you had to have some kids in your school that had it unless you went to a school with fewer than 110 students. The school won't tell you another child's medical diagnosis, its against the law.

And another friend were both twins, who were extreme Spasms.
mac19971 1 year ago
Reply to @matthias66 part 2: And the twins would have these crazy over their head breakouts, and would sometimes pretend they are going SUPERNOVA or something, just very HYPER and causing trouble, but they were my friends. And I would help them calm down. When 5th grade came, I was transfered to a school called Cory elementry. I was still friends with my friend with PDD-NOS from me old school. But at Cory I met new friends. One had some ADHD, very interesting friend I made.
mac19971 1 year ago

Aspergers is a gift, it gives you a brilliant memory and many with Aspergers in the past have gone on to great things and become famous. This rubbish that Aspergers is "autistic" is stupid. I have Aspergers but I have never accepted that I have a disability or autistic disorder - just because they have poor social skills doesn't mean that their autistic so why are people with AS singled out and made to feel different?
julianreggae 4 years ago 6
That's right. If you have Asperger's Syndrome, don't consider it as a threat, but a great asset. There are no disabilities found in a person who has AS. Your giftedness is a great gift. You have the potential, use it wisely.

bigbadbeast2007 4 years ago 4
I have to agree with you.
IT. IS. NOT. AN AUSISUM!
It's a.....PERSONALITY!
Zoisitetta 4 years ago
I have it and i dnt regard that i have a disability either. hwever the main reason they label it such is so ppl with as arent discrimanated against for jobs and stuff as part as disability disacrimated act. its a probelm though coz most ppl i know only regard a disability as someone with a wheelchair/brain problems/damage

Too right! What do Isaac Newton, Einstein, Michelangelo, van Gogh, Dirac and Bill Gates have common-they probably all had/have Asperger's.

Human nature is what it is.Some time when poeple don't undrestand sometime or someone they(the people who don't understand)can and do act hostile ...even violent
seeleunitone 4 years ago

Sure I got times that I dont understand, but those who willing to help, will help you learn...

asperger syndrome isnt bad!!!
y1434 4 years ago 4
Actually, I suffer from Aspergers as well. Socially, people with Asbergers are disabled but they aren't because most people can teach them along the way when they making mistakes or not. Sad thing is, most people will never understand what autism is.

Good informative video.
Just one problem: Aspergers is a disability now, is it?
That just makes it sound like people who have it are cripples, or degenerates of society.
Well they're not.
sheps999 4 years ago
yeah, sheps999. Socially, Aspergers people are disabled, in the most literal sense of the word. That is what people don't understand, because other than that they don't seem different at all, for the most part.
bfugal 4 years ago
each person with asperger's chooses their own term for their condition, Personally, I think disabled is a very powerful word but has many negative connotations. I prefer to use the term impairment. Because most people I have met with Asperger's ARE able to communicate and interact but the process is impaired, ie it is harder and stressful to do it, but often not impossible. Also being a spectrum disorder the severity is different in each individual's case.
NZtegmen 4 years ago
I have AS and as far as I am concerned it is a disability.
That doesn't mean that I can't have a fulfilling life it just means I struggle a lot because aspects of day tp day life affect me differently than most people.
Labelling it a disability itself is not a negative thing, it only becomes negative when people let it bog them down
frelledsenseless 4 years ago 5
Just because someone isn't sitting in a wheel chair doesn't mean they don't have difficulties. Since when is someone different a degenerate of society? What is wrong with being crippled? People don't suffer from disabilities, they suffer from the ignorance of others!
