  • @geoffmackley, nice footage! Would love to capture some bar crossing action like that... well done

  • looks like greymouth new zealand to me

  • Americans don't have big enough nuts to do that, only Australians and New Zealanders.

  • gay music

  • "Hey captain, can I have a payrise"

    "Why's that"

"I need to buy myself some new undies after that!"

  • Very nice, looks like MY footage ..... please acknowledge the source or take it down, cheers Geoff Mackley.

  • @geoffmackley i acknowledge your source..... nice footage man

  • Yeah definitely New Zealand not State-side or where-ever!

  • These guys need to look into a job working in a tackle shop. Or McDonalds. They have no business at the helm of a boat. Theyll be dead soon.

  • if they were stuck they would have powered out of it. there playing around in it, if there fishing for years they would no the water better than themselves so they wouldn't have put themselves in that position to begin with.

  • there so stupid

  • did he die

  • Good cinematrography! He didn't wave the camera all around and miss the action. I liked the shot of the guy standing on the deck of the second vessel with seeming unconcern in all that motion.

  • @chuanist HAH! That's what I thought....just duck out for a quick pipe. "Sorry I'm late dear. Traffic was awful"

I agree about the camera work too.. This was one YT video that _didn't_ make me feel seasick :)

  • The perfect storm II, 'the pretty good storm'...

  • they could have got a helicopter out!!

  • oh my god! those poor lads! were they ok..? did noone try to help them..?!

  • It kind of looks like they are trying to cross on a very strong ebb... That's some gnarly stuff.

  • Its Greymouth for sure,I know I come from Blackball and I used to fish outa there. My Dad was a coal miner but I never liked underground. I prefered the sea.

  • Obviously fake

  • To all the fuckstains that think they are models or its fake?? At 0.27 you see a guy on the bow looks like he'd taking some footage too. What or is he a bacon and egg toasted sandwich?

How the fuck could ya fake that when you see the pressure waves coming up as it surfs the wave in. Then 5.00 you see the same guy with his camera out. How about all you wankers who think its bullshit how about you look on here under "Crossing the bar" this footage is one of many down on the Greymouth river bar

  • @Farkimi those claiming fake are just looking to pull someone's chain... they know it's not

  • that was freakin awesome..... captains certainly held there shit together and kept their boats heading in. some would've tried to turn out of it and head to sea. big mistake. looks like a river bar in NZ or Oz but there's plenty of notorious ones around the world. just depends on the weather and tides. with an outgoing tide and big seas these boats would seem underpowered but they would be going as hard as they could.

  • HAAHAA, dick squeezed. Thats rich! Iz like......PENIS WRINKLE. OR BUTT HAIR PLUCKER! Alright, I'm done. Pppphhhttt!

  • So while the origional boat was at sea, they repainted it,refitted it, renammed it and the sailed to Greymouth New Zealand?

Cant say im surprised a yank is trying to steel the balls of Kiwi fishermen!

  • All you need to do is go to the Columbia River Bar in Washington State and you can get all the excitement you want.....just like this.....only worse! You will crap yourself.

  • Wrong boats

  • the accent we hear sounds a NZ or AU mate..

  • Oh wait....upon reviewing that video again, I do see a live person moving about...Hmmmm...I stand corrected! Amazing video...How the hell was this shot?

  • This does look like is a couple of RC models, although really convincing at first. I say that because

    A. The camera person must have been on shore because it is so steady.

    B. You can see a figurine of the captain fixed very still, smoking his pipe. Just standing outside there calmly smoking your pipe and not moving around, would be the LAST thing a captain or crew member would be doing. LOL....

  • Um, You DO know that these are little RC models, right?

  • 5 feet forward 10 feet backwards. That would have been an awesome ride. No wonder fish costs so much doing that shit for a living.

  • Unbelieveble this cameraman has a verry steady hand ;-)

  • This is why we shouldn't complain about the cost of Fish.

  • 0o2qwaedv 21q3

  • the same footage is on another youtube clip, ....from the news, from New Zealand, to clear up the in correct comments about this being fake or from Oregon.

...Anyway,... it's a hard, and dangerous job,... and these guys risk it, to catch us fresh seafood,.... good on them,.. and may they always come home safe !

  • ahh the wave pool in my hometown is better

  • two legend fishing boat captains......

  • looks absolutely terrifying! The sea could take you when ever it wants.

  • I was on the blue hulled boat. I was in the bow having a beer and some sausage.

  • What is the hull? Looks like a Novi but with a more rounded chin.

  • Crossing The bar

  • Where's the diesel exhaust?? Or any exhaust from engines????

  • this is footage from greymouth in new zealand except for the start when its dead flat, its never that flat in greymouth oregon fisherman obviosly have nothing on new zealand if your goin to steal footage and claim its from oregon, bloody americans

  • To all of u that think this is fake , all I have to say is u gays suck, I've done this fishery in Oregon , dungeness crabing and yea u go true this sand bar every time u want to go to town, this boats r about 46-50 feet long and its no fun been on the boat

  • The epic soundtrack captures the mood

  • @SleuthForTheTruth LOL! I reckon they should play the theme from Benny Hill.

  • These boats go through this every time they come back in.....

  • I know the guy that did this! Two models in a fish pond. Used a real boat motor to create waves!

  • @everthinka if the waves were that small, they'd be moving quite a bit faster...I'm guessing that based on your theory, those people in the wheelhouses of both boats are just moving plastic figurines then?

  • The idiots that coupled this video with the news story about the drowning on the Mckenzie River in Oregon obviously were not aware that the river runs into the Willamette River over 100 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Even the Willamette doesn't reach the sea. It joins the Columbia close to 60 miles from the sea. A fine video, too bad some fool tried to mess with it.

  • who idiot was making vedio

  • @taqweem100 who idiot wrote this comment lol

  • Comment removed

  • Credit must be given to the two Captains. That is some of the most impressive navigating I have seen in rough seas. How they kept the boats straight without broaching is truly amazing.

  • toys.

  • chill dude don't getyou panties in a bunch.

  • Amazing footage. I won't complain about the high cost of fish again!

  • look at the waves, they are breaking way too fast for their size, according to the scale of the boats. Its very well done but,i am pretty sure this is fake footage

  • @lyrykl1 you may be pretty sure it's fake but I am 100% certain that you suck dicks

  • @lyrykl1 Look at the people...

  • Nice model boats this is NOT real.

  • @timriv Yeah dumbass, those are little robots walking on the deck.

  • @timriv wrong homo been there, seen it. You're a douchebag

  • Comment removed

  • was this close to shore? How did you manage to film this?

  • Feck dat lol

  • My GOD where in Gods name is this hell on earth.

  • @ziadn27 Not at all. Outrigger(s) _can_ be used to stabilise a boat (trimaran) or outrigger canoe etc) but these are part of the fishing gear, to tow the net. Just looking at the video shows these have no stabilising function. Those are extremely stable boats (bloody nice actually) and do not need any more stability.

  • Nice boats doing what they are supposed to in bad conditions, this would be a good video for the builder to show off his boats durability.

  • @ziadn27 These poles are fishing gear and nothing to do with keeping the boats stable in video. Their hulls are not 'inherently unstable' but are in fact very stable and seaworthy otherwise they would have capsized in those seas. Incidentally, these boats were not caught in a 'massive current' so much as surf which was probably driven up over a bar of shingle at the mouth of a river. Impressive video footage made more so by the low angle it was shot at. But all in a day's work for those sailors.

  • @kage110 I agree about the surf and the bar, but you can see the water "dragging" up over the waves, so there is a very strong current. That will increase the apparent wave speed and steepen them.It will also slow the boats down.

I also agree with the low angle making it much more dramatic. They look set to be totally sunk on may occasions. Long lens will also make it look nastier.

  • @IAMOldNick I stand corrected about the current :). Mind you, as a former seafarer I tend to think in terms of 'current' being tidal rather than river but there is a significant amount of river running into the sea at this place.

  • @kage110 the current you're seeing here is about a 8 knot fresh water discharge from the Buller River combined with tidal action. These boats are entering the river mouth at about high water. If the tide had been dropping the current would have been far too strong to enter. There's actually a version of this video on youtube with some interesting comments form the captains.

  • Holly shit!!!! Thats scary shit right there. A hard way to get fish. No thanks I'll just get mine from a can.lol You have to have balls for that kind of job.

  • fuck yer rollercoasters i got my rolling boat

  • u mean massive wave and current

  • more horsepower isnt always the answer, but in this case...

  • I body surf waves bigger than that

  • FUCK THAT..

  • @ziadn27 I think in a case like this, these "outriggers" are worth their weight in gold! Both ships didn't capsize. I hope they both got out of there safely; that was scary to see. Thanks so much for the nautical term and explanation. I have learned something new today! ☺

  • trawlers can take anything. awesome!

  • @dariod2007

come on people these are just model boats playing at a beach somewhere......

Surely they are not for real!! nice try though!

  • @antarths01 Awww.... LOL

  • @dariod2007 sure aint no smoke coming out them pipes LOL

  • @antarths01 Smoke? Smoke? no way man! That's 100% pure adrenalin diahhhorrea! Haw haw LOL

  • @antarths01 Must be some big models for people to be able to walk on them.

  • @Gunner7121 Well spotted man, i must have missed the initial part of this clip. Its amazing how well these trawlers take on the sea, absolutely unbelievable........!!!!!!

  • They are doing great job though.

  • Great video work. Thanks.

  • Hey what's this rubbish about Oregon and some guy drowning?

This is footage of boats coming into Greymouth in New Zealand.

  • @jonnyzz139 Yeah I know it's freaky isn't it? I did not know where t was, but not Oregon (accents)

  • @jonnyzz139 YOUR RUBBISH IM FROM OREGON MATE

  • @thatkidsmokin why am I rubbish because you're from Oregon you cock?

The video is of boats crossing a bar in NZ - many thousands of miles away from Oregon.

    watch?v=ByGSMmenPDM&feature=related

  • @jonnyzz139 because you like to talk down to oregonians fuck off dick squeezer

  • @thatkidsmokin I didn't say anything about anyone from Oregon, I just pointed out that this video is shot in New Zealand and has nothing to do with Oregon so go pick a fight somewhere else you fool.

You're sure not doing Oregonian reputations any good running around with that huge chip on your shoulder.

  • @jonnyzz139 wahh shut up you baby

  • @thatkidsmokin hahahaaaa

  • @jonnyzz139 was thinking it looked heaps like greymouth ay!!!

  • @paulrmerson yip definitely greymouth, the bar coming into the grey river

  • Looks like they need bigger scuppers to keep the decks free(er) of water.

  • lol they like went under water at times

  • Like the music. Whats the song called?

  • The 2 Dislikes are from the 2 Boat Owners

  • The 2 Dislikes are from the 2 Boat Owners

  • The 2 Dislikes are from the 2 Boat Owners

  • The 2 Dislikes are from the 2 Boat Owners

  • amazing handling! Surf them babies!

  • good stability! it is r34?

  • Why don't they run off to calmer waters instead of holding at that position?

  • Good gracious I am queasy just watching those boats!!

  • LOL..COOL..2012 came sooner..

  • stupid music ruins it!

  • One needs to have one's wits about oneself on the Oregon coast. I used to go fishing on the Columbia Bar and down in Newport when I was a kid, but I can't really say I miss it.

Life jackets should ALWAYS be worn on boats both by children AND ADULTS. Fool around with mother nature and you lose every time.

  • They are the arms for the stabilizer birds that hang off them in the water to help cut down on rolling while fishing.

  • What are those two symmetrical poles? The ones that stick out at a forty-five degree angle on both sides of the fishing boat? Are they fishing rod holders? Net holders? Both boats have them.

  • @dustymiller65 They're called outriggers normally use them to spread out the baits or for spreading the nets out

  • song name ??

  • pretty rough

  • omg.
