i believe you could get by playing this in front of a crowded bar. only those of us who play would actually think twice abouit it. I have done a few Stones covers over the years and worked up "good enough" standard tuning versions. it's not always convenient to have multiple axes on stage at small gigs. i agree, for purists, you have to tune open... but this would get you by. i'm sure.
sorry but it dont sound right it has to be open G your not getting the correct sound by playing in standard sorry just my opinion. that dont meen to say your not a good player cause you are
I dig the sound you got, man. Personally, I'm too lazy to tune to open G, so I play the C-major chord on the D, G, and B strings, which gives you a similar zing and you can get the high notes in almost the same...
Nice Guitar Bro! Gotta love the Tele's but Open G is a must.. It's the heart of the Stones. Wanna get real technical? completely take off the low E cause Keith doesn't use it! Doesn't even exist on his '52 Micawber. (Telecaster)
Quoting Keith.. "We play Rock N Roll... You want otherwise.. Go to the Orchestra!"
With that said.. Nice run at it with standard tuning!
You can't play Start me up right without open G. Same goes for Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women and a load of other Stnoes songs. Take the friggin string of ya guitah!
i just got a USA made tele that looks like that. ash body and maple fretboard. i really like mine. mine was used.......a 2009 model but in great shape. the lead player for mel tillis in branson had it and he bought it new.

Yes know all about open G tuning and capo on 4th or 5th.
It was just another way of pulling off the song, well it's not 100% but you can rock with it.

Nah, that ain't it. In standard tuning it works much better out of the "A" form C chord. this just sounds like mush.
