NIce,suprised more people have not done this, i tried violin in the early 90's and lets just say mastering the guitar is hard enough, violin is for the masochist :D
nice use of effects with your playing.
i remember a guy Woods? from the early 90's who was the first known electric violin shredder
i think he was on shrapnel.
anyway nice playing man, hopew to hear more from you.
Great video! I bought your demo cd way back in early '07 when I saw you in Penn station, and I have to admit that I've been playing it regularly ever since. I didn't even know who Paganini was until I looked it up based upon your cd, which made everything even more cool. Keep on playing, I've seen you a whole bunch more since that one night, and you always gather a larger crowd!
Hey you´re great. Im from Panama, my congratulations, I have a boy of two years old and We watched together your videos, He likes this kind of music (also Enya), when he watched your videos he told me, Dad the piano!!!! I laughing a lot, because he´s learning to talk.
Congratulations my friend, We are waiting your cd!!!!!
As a guitar player, this is wonderful to listen to, such a guitar quality to your playing, yet still distinctly a violinist. Amazing my friend, a true virtuoso. 5 stars
omg that was one of the best display of voline playing i have ever seen and i was wrong of thinking that violine were for playing classical music. thanks for uploading hope to see more
What type of violin are you using there, I'm thinking about getting myself a "Ted Brewer Vivo2", but not sure, does it come with those flashing lights you have in them in other videos, or you fit them yourself.
You know what I was on about getting a violin because I wanted to learn how to play on my own, and do you know what, I'm going to start to play and if someone asks me why I'm going to say "Watch Michael Shulman, he is an ispiration to us all" serioulsy you have really made me want to play even more. Truly amazing and self taught, that is the way I'm going, I find I learn quicker on my own, maybe we can play together oneday when i'm that good lol
It have some ups and downs, and I would still recommend studying scales and arpeggios. There is no "wrong" or "right" way in the learning curve - that's up to the individual and the circumstances. There is definitely no shame in taking lessons or having a teacher especially when you begin.
If you don't mind me asking, whats between your E.Violin and Amp? I talked to another guy on youtube and he suggested a Boss ME50. Just curious what you're using or if you could make a suggestion. Although you might complain about your E.Violin here, It sounds really good, much better than a fishman pickup on a ridiculously expensive acoustic instrument.
As I've mentioned before, I am not going to advertise the specific company which equipment I use without them paying me. However, IMO any guitar "multi-effects" processor will do the job.
You can see "Me & Black Dragon" pictures in my project's Myspace page.
The maker's name is Eric Keebler..
My computer was broken for a month... finally I've got a new one yesterday!
There are tons of new videos ready to be edited and posted, but I am completely booked & in the process of recording a brand new album, so I guess Youtube will have to wait...
Most acoustic violin techniques will not work successfully on an el. violin because of the way they are built. With my new el. violin I'll be able to use more violin techniques that will work well in combination with distortion and effects. It's no use trying to achieve the genuine acoustic sound on electric violin, and that's not my intention.
Decent playing. Very nice Wah effect. Sound just like a guitar. Is the compositions name Paganini or you just like Paganini? If its called Paganini, add some tripple stops, some ricochete bowing, and turn the effects off. Then you'll have something. But this sounds good for an effect. I know other players that use effects to mask their inabilities too. Mark Woods is one of them.
no hard feelings on my side either. I didn't mean that he was masking because he can obviously play. I meant in general, I've heard many use effects to mask themselves. I fell victim to it when I was about 12 years old many years ago so I know from experience.
Words could be misunderstood very easily on the Internet... Just keep that in mind when creating posts. Like I previously said - as long as the criticism is constructive I'll accept it on my Video comments threads. Just no direct insults, please.
You will soon see many new videos from different angles, but ultimately don't forget that this is a live clip, filmed with just one camera on a tripod.
Fucking awesome!

I dunno dude. Hes playing some difficult stuff and on top of that alot of it is improvised.
I wouldnt compare it. They're difficult in their own ways

I understand,
and
I wouldnt compare if the video didnt have this title,

"P XXI C" is a project of my original music.
It's not a tribute to "Paganini the person."
Most acoustic violin techniques will not work successfully on an el. violin because of the way they are built. Why would you even say that it doesn't benefit anyone in anyway, unless you consider sounding like an arrogant pig beneficial to yourself.

You can't use effects to mask an inabily to play in tune (ok, there is the autotune, lol) or to be able to use a bow correctly.
