idk why you guys think the goal was in. even if it was there was still like 6 minutes left in the game and the bolts could have tied it and sent it into overtime any way. the flames still had overtime and the rest of the 3rd period. The bolts won the cup fair and square.
@MuppetPhuck but what if they didn't gain momentum and collapsed its all what ifs. I wasn't even directing it at you specifically so don't go off on me and call me an idiot.
@GoPensGo377 If your talking about crowfoot calgary, the holy shit. I left for the Mcdonalds at crowfoot after the game with some friends, and even at crowfoot, other side of the city, you could feel the emotion.
Have you ever noticed how every highlight is of tampa on the power play? That whole series was constant weak call after another for calgary and constant missed calls against tampa. Im not a calgary fan by any means but they realy got Jew'd in this series. Betman wants the game out of canada. their just isnt enough money in canada for betman.
I'm sorry friend, but that's just a bad excuse. I don't know anything about Bettman but you just don't win the Stanley Cup if you are a bad team... Unless it's the NJ Devils ; )
"THE TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING HAVE WON THE STAAAAANLEY CUP" :) ppl can debate about goals all they want the lightning won fair and square and their name is engraved on the cup not calgarys :)
lightning didnt win fair and square. r u kiddin me. the ref in that series even amittied he didnt like the flames. a 5 on 3 in the finals in a time where a penalty never happened. a complete joke. TB won only because of the officials.
Except for a few deluded calgary fans, this Gelinas goal "controversy" falls squarely in the "who gives a shit" category. Great teams bounce back from advesity; the flames weren't capable of doing that, though I would wager that far fewer of their players than fans hold on to some Gelinas shot that didn't go in during game 6.
I wish I could've appreciated the rest of these playoffs more since they were intense. However, I was so intensely following the Lightning, that I didn't get a chance to watch much of the early round stuff outside of most of the Flyers/Leafs series, and some of the Flames/Wings.
But I did get to see 23 games that I will never forget. I had been a fan since the first playoff run of 96, and to live through the down years, the corrupt ownership, and broken promises finally paid off.
great playoff year and one of the greatest SCF ever. what a dogfight! each team had a 4-1 win, then each team had a shutout. then each team had a 3-2 OT win. all it needed was a game 7 OT. it had everything else though. total goals: CAL 14 TB 13.
Sorry To say guyss oilers had a better playoff run, yess they won in game 6 but can u imagine losing mikka kipprusoff and still goin to game 7 in the finals?
Come cheack out my new hockey site. It is a proboards site and i am looking for admins and mods come cheack out and plz join. send me a message on youtube for the link or just look at the info for each video and the links there
you can suck my cock that was in if the flames had asked for a review they would have won they played soo many games that they ran out of steam in game 7 :(
Around the same the Flames have done since then...not much.
Calgary hasn't exactly been the 'Cup contender' everyone predicted they'd be after their playoff run in '04. They, much like Tampa Bay, haven't won a playoff series since. So the Flames really aren't much better off even though they've had better REGULAR SEASON records since. But that's about it.
Let's face it, the Flames still have not gotten over losing Game 7 in '04 & it may still be some time until they do.....
Hey, the 2008 playoffs have been pretty good so far as well...still, 2004 was AWESOME, even if the Leafs were eliminated by Philly in Round 2. Still watch the playoffs even when the Leafs aren't playing anyway......
Notice how most of the 1st-round matchups in 2004 had division rivals playing each other( Habs-Bruins, Leafs-Sens, Flyer-Devils, Flames-Canucks, Wings-Preds ), & even the rest of the matchups throughout the playoffs had history between the teams; then you had the conference finals & Cup Finals, all three series were long, intense, & classic playoff hockey. 2004 playoffs were fantastic for hockey fans everywhere:-D

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Calgary Flames is the best Stanley Cup final I have ever seen. Just fantastic.
And for those who says the puck was in, just get over it, for your own sake. Tampa Bay won and nothing will ever change that.
