I'm more a fan of the Space Marines, but it's impossible to deny the fiery tenacity of the IG.

Normal humans, no implants or anything beyond armour and las weapons. Yet still they bring the fight to the enemies of Man, wherever they are and whatever form they may take. This just furthers the point: Imperial Guard is undeniably BAD-ASS!

well i have to say the ig is only strong because it has more of an advantage with its vechiles and the soldier are (to me) consider meatsheilds while as space marines have an equal balance of both health in the soldiers andf the vechiles...so if saw them in a fight i wolud have to say that the space marines would win

Ya it's kinda weird cause If the blood ravens told the imperial guard to leave because their chapter master had higher authority, they would be wrong. Segmentum Commands orders overrides that of a chapter master.

@Norling99 the only way I see that happening is the odd rebelling regiment. Their is no real reason I could think of for them to start fighting other than rebellion. I don't think the army navy and air force would start killing each other if the world was 1 country. Imperial guard is the army and defense used because the space marines can't be everywhere at once.

I d say that 1 space marine is capable of defeating an entire company worth of tanks, choppers, and troops without the bolter and powerswords. The US would have a much better chance if it was them and the entire world vs 1 space marine. Then again according to the lore 1 space marine would still win lol.

I find it funny that people can call the Imperial Guard cowards. The Imperium practically sends them to die and just because they have a little common sense to retreat and regroup when the battle is obviously lost, they're labeled as cowards... yeah well, anybody that has almost no chance but stands up to the evils of the Warhammer universe is the bravest people I could ever think of.

I was cheering for the Imperial Guard throughout the video. Like the resemblence they have to real-life soldiers, unlike the Space Marines, that have been transformed to gen-modified bad-asses. Also, the Imperial Guard was one of the first armies I started collecting. :)

@Agathon31 Now tabletop wise, i got a couple veteran squads of Cadians that's never had a problem with Spacemarines or more importantly their sub-par heavy support. And fluff considered there are well over 100k Guardsman for every marine possibly even a million considering the are recruited from MILLIONS of worlds. Sure SM are the elites but if there was an intergalactic war (i may be shot for heresy X/) I believe the untold billions of the IG with there superior armor would crush the Astartes.
