  • thank goodness those days are over.

  • Holy crap you can mount that thing on an AK? Amazing how small things get over time.

  • cool video, kind of amazing to see where night vision started and where it is today!

have you guys ever seen or had experience with the PNV-57 Czech Night Vision Goggles?

  • @piehi2

I have not, but we are interested in all kind of NV

  • @GunWebsites I saw them on Centerfire systems.com the other day for something like 130 bucks, it would be kind of an interesting video but spendy at the same time lol

  • How much does it cost?

  • 1960's

  • how old is this beast?

  • still looking for that info

  • Its funny that the thing weights more than the gun itself. But if it wasnt for that we wouldnt have the amazing PSO style NV scopes that kalinka makes.

  • true.. it all starts big

  • Id love to see the looks at the gun club if I put this thing on my rifle.

  • The PPN-2 was not really made for the AK, actually it was designed for use on the Degtyaryov RP-46, Gorjunov SG-43 and SGM, and the B-10 recoilless rifle. All quite heavy, crew-served weapons mounted on tripods, bipods or even wheeled carriages. Even back then, the NV made for the AK was a little more ocmpact.

  • @avtomatsinaction

    Interesting username..

    Thanks for the info

  • Of course this was not the first Soviet military night vision device by any means, but the PPN-2 was developed and fielded by the Soviets in the late 1950's, and was replaced in the Red Army by the mid-1960's. It was still used by some East Bloc contries into the early 1970's. The unit in the video is actually a Polish version.

  • Sweet!!! Who is the proud owner? I bet this really changed the battlefield back then.

  • This one is for sale (at the time we took the video) from Omega Weapon Systems

  • Duhhh! I should have read before asking! Thanks!

  • @Derail07 first night vision site was made by the nazis called the vampire (vampier or something)

  • lol thts massive

  • Nice review, would bee fun to see it in action !

    5/5

    Thanks !

  • Wow thats something you don't run into everyday.
