Grew up in the 70s watching "This is the NFL" on Saturday afternoon- the current NFL Films music just doesn't do it for me- way too synthesized- Sam Spence's work, IMO, was just better...
@6400az I remember that SuperBowl V highlight show NFL Films produced. That Super Bowl I think was the best NFL Films put together even though it was probably the sloppiest Super Bowl game played. The way they combined the highlights, player's emotional highs and lows with all of the music made it like watching a high intensity drama flick.
Starting at 1:55. The narrator here, doe'snt try to immitate John Facenda. I believe his last name is Nelson and I always loved his narration. Did many Games Of The Week. His voice makes whatever he's describing sound extremely important.
@6400az I believe that's Ray Scott who was CBS lead football announcer until Summerall took over that role at some point in the '70's. Scott did some of the early work on the weekly NFL Films shows. If not Ray Scott, the other possibility is Al Metzger.
I'd like to get my hands on some just straight tracks of these songs - the old 60's and 70's NFL songs that were played in the background for NFL Films and had the narration of the incomparable John Facenda - I miss these songs and his voice
At 1:06. Although here, Facenda is narrating SB VII in reference to the Redskins. This track is just outright inspiring. It does'nt fit anywhere but as a backdrop for the Colts in SB V...............This one, and "Rainbows In the End Zone" are my particular favorites.
The second one got a lot of play on This Week in Pro Football. I'd like to know that one plus at least a half dozen others that got plenty of play on the highlight shows and were not on Autumn Thunder.
yeah I wish I had the titles to them!

@knight04061965 See Whitecastle's other posted video -- the 9 song compilation. I believe it's called Men of Steel if the order is correct.

@tchaser5858 Yeah and the disputed Duane Thomas fumble at the goal line which Cowboy fans say was recovered by Dave Manders

@tchaser5858 And Tom Landry turns around and says nothing where today's coaches would mutter some swear word
