you are right not a very convincing performance - probably better in the theatre without the close up.

Trouble is most people have a very good idea of the line and phrasing from the film - you have either got to repeat or come up with your own line which sounds convincingly your own. Unfortunately she does not do either - but as someone else this might have been early days! I do tend to think she looks better than fisher - younger more naive

She hadn't had any rehearsals or direction as Maria when this was filmed. This was part of the hollyoaks show before she'd had any musical direction.

it is.... they need the theatre for the WORLD premiere of THE SISTER ACT THE MUSICAL but this show is not over, a united kingdom tour of the sound of music Featuring CONNIE FISHER ( the original Maria) is set to be stopping in more that 25 cities in England ( set to start late 2009)

I have been to see the sound of music with summer twice now and she is brillaint!! The best Maria I have ever seen!!! She was so kind to let me have a photo with her at the stage door. I hiope she stays in the part!!!

But Connie WASNT the original.100's of other girls have played Maria before Connie and will continue to play her after.. Connie's voice was incredible but she lacked warmth/comedy, she took the fun out of Maria for me. SUmmer brings it back. Im not trying to bring Connie down but just saying that people may look for different things from an actress.

well i mean she was the original for andrew loyd webber's new west end revival veersion.

i went on saturday july 12.i never saw connie live but i saw her on the M? show and videos and she reminded me of julie andrews summer was kind of stiff for the part and connie had better chemestry with the children. i went to london for a west end trip i saw 4 shows and i francly just don't think she does it whole heartedly.i didn't een know connie's run had ended but i went in with an open mind

Trust me, Summer loves the show and puts 100% into everything she does. See, that is exactly how I would describe Connie, stiff. She really is an incredible singer but for me, she just doesn't capture the raw essence of Maria. But I think maybe it might just come down to opinion?

Sorry, just doesn't work for me. Hasn't got Connie's sincerity and seems to lack enthusiasm. Connie lived the part, Summer's just visiting it.
