I just got an HP Mini 1000. What is the best way to get windows 7 on a computer without a USB CD/DVD drive. Please help! I need to figure out how to make a bootable USB drive that will let me install XP or Windows 7 from a thumb drive. How do i get the computer to load windows 7?

Just use an external CD/DVD drive.

go download something called daemon tools and mount the .iso image on your comp and install :)

Ok, but booting from BIOS? That's not gonna work. I just took an old external USB hard drive enclosure an put a desktop dvd burner in it.

Yeah, I know! I use PowerISO to mount virutal discs. But when you push the ESC button as your netbook is starting up, you need a USB Dvd Drive! Because Daemon tools and PowerISO both require windows in order for them to work.

i wouldnt recomment cuz i tried it and cuz the installation restarted my pc the app went out then it couldnt relocate the installation disc oh well

JKK, How does Windows 7 Handle Virtual Memory? Does WIN7 autoset it to none if using a SSD? Same question for Windows environment Values "TEMP Locations and usage." I have win7 installed on a Full Notebook with spindle type HD.. Still debating on Installing it onto my Netbooks. Also, WIN7 Needs how much Disk Storage for installation? Over 8GB? Thanks again.. With regard to IE tabs/Firefox tabs on the task bar... IE8 uses seperate processes for tabs so I think that must be why it works like that. I suspect it will also do that in Chrome, but I haven't installed Chrome in W7 yet... Hopefully the next version of Firefox will follow suit, and use seperate processes for it's tabs like IE8 and Chrome.

Netbooks, I can't say anything about it, my friend have 6953 on his netbook though.

I have used Windows 7 for about half a year, and I'm pleased with it.

It is faster, and smaller, and about the features, there aren't that many new ones, but it is much better than Vista.

all the computers he was showing windows 7 on were Netbooks, i have the HP Mini 1000, and had the eee pc, but yes its good. not that many new features but like Dojan said it is WAY better than Vista.
