Comparing Reed to Troy is like comparing a wide reciever to a tight end. Both have specific jobs to do and the WR (Reed) is going to have alot better numbers than the TE (Troy), purely because of their position.
i was with you until the WR(reed), TE(troy) part. Polamalu is a STRONG SAFETY, the position that allows for nearly the most freedom on the entire field. He basically gets to be a linebacker AND a defensive back, gets sent in on so many more blitzes than Reed, covers zones with more traffic (Free safeties, by design, are usually in the deep zone) and gets to be more involved against the run. Polamalu SHOULD be able to produce better numbers, but Reed is on a different level

Im a Redskins fan, so no bias here..... Ed Reed > Troy Polamalu. Ed is in position every time because he reads the offense so well, so don't give me this bullshit that Ed Reed makes easy picks and lucky tips. It's easy because HE "REEDS" the offense, puts himself into position to make the play. Ball. Hawk. @MrJeckel Calm down, I was giving Ed all the props he deserved. I wasn't comparing Ed's interceptions to the all-time greats, just Troy. Polamalu only has a handful of "easy" picks. DPOYs aren't that big of a deal when we are talking about the here and now. Bring those up when looking back on their careers. And Harrison definately did deserve that DPOY. Troy has been in the running multiple years too.
I never even said anything outragous or unreasonable in my last post, so don't act like it.

Troy doesn't have as many touchdowns as Ed because his position is SS and Ed's is FS. Ed covers recievers, Troy covers everybody. Troy is faster and hits harder. Didn't Hines Ward level Ed's ugly ass and then he cried about it after he couldn't get up? Troy can play Ed's position, Ed cant play Troy's.

Offenses are straight up terrified of this guy, and while the fumbles can be frustrating sometimes, the risk/reward of his playmaking abilities overshadows it. i dont like comparing the two because one is a free safety and the other is a strong safety. but if u look at the stats of ed reed back when he was a strong safety he did play better then troy. even though ed played ss for only like 3 years u can still compare their stats when troy played for 6. so ed is a much better safety then troy to me. but troy is still one amazing player dont get me wrong

Ed Reed has had more INT than Troy in one season than Troy in 3 seasons. Ed Reed averages more TKLs a year than Troy. Ed Reed has a lot more records and is on a better path to make it to the H.o.F.. Ed Reed is a GREAT special teams player, also. Ed Reed has more ball-hawking skills, makes more tackles, more INTs, everything Reed does is better than Troy.
