If you polled every rock band the consensus would be that TOOL are they best musicians in their genre. @FVDub Don't get me wrong. I'm a HUGE Chevelle fan. No, no, no, a monumental Chevelle fan, but nothing they do even remotely compares to Tool. Have you ever met anyone in Tool? They're some of the nicest, most humble guys. The only one who is remotely pretentious is Maynard, and that's due to his dislike of the spotlight. As far as a band goes, the content, quality, and just overall epic creativity of Tool isn't matched by anyone. Not even a band as good as Chevelle.

I think what T00L and Chevelle have in common (way more than their sound) is that you can put any of their albums in your car radio and not have to take it out until its over. You can't say that about many bands, especially today.

@Vazcular You see that's the thing. As opposed to other music which can just be listened to and enjoyed at first hearing, Tool is written more for the analytical mind. You have to really analyze and think about it to enjoy it fully. That's one of the things that I love so much about them and its what separates them from any other band. Despite how much I love chevelle, I must say that they don't achieve that aspect nearly as well as Tool.
